My fault, I didn't send in readings, thought someone else would, and it's only because I've spent most of the day trying to work out current usage and predicted increases from 1 October that I discovered this. This being £1900 owed on gas and electricity.
Because apparently, it was necessary to keep the central heating on in the cellar and one other room 24 hours a day for several months.
And anyway, it's my fault because I always have the upstairs windows open.
And this makes the house cold downstairs.
And because all the radiators are connected and bedrooms are heated upstairs, the downstairs boiler uses excess gas. 🙄
Despite the fact that we have 2 separate boilers and 2 separate billing arrangements.
Give me strength.😠

Does someone else live downstairs? That's a big bill, but at least you discovered it before the price increase! Can you do more to insulate downstairs?

No, can't afford to! We live in the whole house, which still has 2 separate boiler systems, so less than ideal, especially with standing charge, 1 set of bills by post, the remainder by prepayment meters 😯
