collie there is a joules outlet on eBay and there is always a discount kicking about, might ease it a bit

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/09/2022 14:58

Good luck for tomorrow in case I forget

AdoraBell · 01/09/2022 15:17

CurlsandCurves hope DS enjoys Canada. Which perfume are you looking for? I’m just being nosy, my favourite is Givenchy 111. It’s bloody expensive only available in Harrods 🤦‍♀️

Gen how’s MIL?

Jewishmum 🤣 at the pink castle and good frugaleering on the water bottle and cup.

I bought a flask today , I make a jug of coffee in the morning and by lunchtime/early afternoon it needs zapping in the microwave. Not anymore 😁 £9.99, down from £17.99, in Mountain Warehouse

£11.50 donated to DEC for their latest appeal, relief for flood victims in Pakistan.

AdoraBell · 01/09/2022 15:39

Not Mountain Warehouse, Trespass 🤦‍♀️

ThisisCollie2022 · 01/09/2022 16:13

Thanks Life! I'll have a look on the ebay store too :)

Does anyone remember when my bank went down last week? I complained at the time and they've given me £36 as an apology. Quite pleased with that.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/09/2022 16:17

Also the outdoor stores do joules, and often have offers, I just checked milbury bill but sold out,

it’s all adding up collue

that flask sounds great adora, does the swearing thread still run? I needed it today with stuff breaking and costing me money,
i texted my friends instead and vented there. 😂

AdoraBell · 01/09/2022 17:25

Oh yes, still got the swearing thread. Not as busy now but I still need it. It’s moved from Chat to 90 Days Only as it was never meant to be in the archives.

needastrongoneagain · 01/09/2022 17:25

Don't discount Vinted and specialist label Facebook sites for clothes, most have a group selling say Sea Salt, or Joules etc. I don't think I've bought new for 6 months now, albeit the stuff I've bought is actually new with tags, just not worn. I've saved a fortune. Especially with the prices of Hush.

Good luck tomorrow collie.

Collected lots of baking apples folk in our village have left out for free. Will forage blackberries and make crumble.

LSD - few bits for DH, about a fiver.

Bornlazy · 01/09/2022 19:44

Yesterdays spends were £53 in garage on fuel and bread and milk. I've taken my dm away for a couple of days to our caravan and weather is lovely. She has very simple tastes and despairs of my spending so having her here is saving me money. We popped into some charity shops and I got some lovely champagne glasses that were only 87p for six of them! I'm ashamed to say that's the first time I've ever bought anything in a charity shop, but definitely won't be the last.

Half I can imagine as a manager you must get a lot of grief . It's really difficult for some staff to think of the bigger picture when they are so burnt out but we are all in this together so they shouldn't take it out on you.

I too am nosey about the perfume

marthasmum · 01/09/2022 20:07

Spends £2.35 today on a coffee, much needed! Full on day at work tomorrow and then will be ready to flop.
useful to have your total for a monthly basics shop wolf. I was thinking £200ish for us and as there are 5 of us that sounds about right. Hope Wolf DS is doing better.

kessiebird · 01/09/2022 20:50

Hope your MIL is okay Gen.
Good luck Collie

I'm not keeping up very well but still find it sooo useful.

I bought a summer bundle on ebay this year for £7. Some of it straight in charity bag but there was a lovely flattering dress, a Joules 3/4 sleeves stripy top and a vintage Superdry tee shirt which is always admired. I have some Fatface vouchers to spend next week when back in the office, may try their jeans although Next seem to fit me well and last longer.

Frugal fail on the Lidl Plus app. I needed to spend another £7.50 to earn the £10 voucher and I didn't pop in before the 31st! Likely credit to my much better planning and careful spending but still so annoying! Even more so that the app is changing this month 🤦‍♀️

£50 fuel, already accounted for in weekly spends.
£34 provisional licence for DS.
£5.85 for small shop at Coop.

AdoraBell · 01/09/2022 21:05

Gen hope you enjoy your visit to NI and hope MIL is comfortable and improves.

Good luck for tomorrow Collie

I used to make banana flapjacks.

Alfiemoon1 · 01/09/2022 21:46

Good luck for tomorrow collie

Wolfcub · 01/09/2022 21:59

@ThisisCollie2022 good luck

Decafflatteplease · 01/09/2022 23:07

Catch up with the thread....

Good luck Collie thats come around fast!

Re Lidl has anyone heard they are changing the Lidl plus app now from September it's not going to be as good. You have to get to £250 for 10percent off. Definitely not as good as the £10 voucher.

Re clothes, I'm trying to forge a bit of a new style. I think I need to dress for the body I have and accept it for what it is. Lockdown and various associated stress saw me put on a few stone which I would like to shift but it's not a huge priority.

I usually shop at m and s, Sainsbury's, seasalt, fat Face and frugi. Mainly Preloved. my "winter uniform" is dress chunky boots tights and scarfs. Summer uniform is harem trousers, long cardigans and a vest top. Occasionally jeans and a jumper. I cover shoulders to knees for personal modesty.

Hope everyone ok.

mustbefunny · 02/09/2022 06:53

I've recently been buying clothes in the charity shop... definitely some bargains but also finding styles/cuts/colours that suit me rather than some of the hideous fashion on offer atm!!

NSD yesterday. Trying to stretch out good shopping - amazing what can be found lurking in the cupboard and freezer! Kids are loving the array of freezer tapas and daily jelly!

HTruffle · 02/09/2022 07:20

Good morning all, I’m joining again having taken part once before, but we’re trying to be exceptionally careful with money just now. My motivation is holidays, not necessarily big expensive ones, but will have to save hard if I want us to be able to afford going away next year.

small wins so far include picking around 1/2 kilo of wild blackberries yesterday which are so sweet I won’t need to buy other snacky fruit to go on top of our cereal for a while. I also made a game of collecting them with my two DC so that was really enjoyable instead of spending £15 on tenpin bowling that I’d originally considered (+ fuel). I’ve also listed around 20 things on vinted and some have sold already; it’s only £2/£3 here and there but if it adds up to £30 or so that will be a small weekly shop (or a contribution to my holiday fund!)

Unescorted · 02/09/2022 07:41

Morning!

@ThisisCollie2022 Good luck.

@HTruffle welcome back. Blackberries are really good this year.

@Gensola Hope your MIL is making a recovery. It is hard when parents start needing care. We had about a year when the kids were almost self sufficient before my parents started needing care.

We have found a really good money saving / weight loss plan.... send the kids into the supermarket to pick up dinner.

Visit to the Dr - diet changes & exercise has brought my body back under control without meds. It is £30 per month in the gym (plus petrol to get there) so more expensive than the prescriptions but it is one of those times I think it is worth it.

ThisisCollie2022 · 02/09/2022 07:47

Awww thanks everyone! I'm really nervous. Especially as the last interview I had was so awful.

After my interview, we're off to settle the huge unexpected bill.

So today is all kinds of mega stress! One takes 30 mins and the other will be 10 mins of shock or relief!

NSD though

Unescorted · 02/09/2022 07:52

Collie - when I interview people I disregard nerves. Most interviewers are willing you to do well because they want the person who cares about the job. Just be you - and good luck again.

ThisisCollie2022 · 02/09/2022 07:57

Thanks @Unescorted, I know the industry & clients SO well, I doubt the other applicants have any industry experience at all.

But the role maybe a little senior for me. And when I say a little I mean just the tiniest tiniest bit!

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/09/2022 08:03

I always make allowances for nerves to collie,
Meh a bit senior is nothing, everyone starts somewhere and has bits of rolls to learn

good luck
