Matched Betting newbies, anyone else?

So, credit crunch is biting, am single parent in a very pricey part of the country albeit with what is statistically a good salary (except I am on less in real terms now than I was 10 years ago and I was in a dual earner household then...

Anyway, I've bitten the bullet and started matched betting. It seems like a no brainer to me.

Has anyone else just started out with this?

Am very wary of getting gubbed because I am such a rule-abider and hate being told off 😁 but then in the grand scheme of things, I guess it doesn't really matter as I would never actually bet in the normal sense of the term, and if I make a few quids it's free money right?

I started about 18 months ago, so not a newbie. Doing ok, i just wish i had more time to spend on it. I've been gubbed by 3 bookies & yes it does feel like being told off 😄Some gub quite quickly, others rarely, there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to it. Lack of time means i've not really got into more complicated stuff like extra places.....for speed i started doing casino offers a few months ago & doing pretty well. It has the advantage of being doable at any time whereas MB isn't quite as flexible. Overall i really enjoy it. Good luck OP

How does it work though? I'm so bad at maths and I can never get my head around all the odds and stuff

You use offers from bookies such as free bets & price boosts to make a guaranteed profit by placing a bet using the free bet at the bookies, then laying the same bet at an exchange. That means you 'win' either way as you're covering both outcomes. I use a site called Profit Accumulator which has all the 'how to' guides, plus calculators & links to all the offers available.

I’d love to get into this, I did look into it ages ago but never carried on

Goawayangryman · 07/08/2022 18:07

I would recommend based on my short experience so far. I'm a week in and I've made £150 profit. Still doing the signups and have zero betting history, so that helps massively. Pus I can't vouch for how it will work after gubbings, and when signups are done with. Also, I started with a healthy float so didn't have to wait around for bets to settle. I can imagine a much slower start if I had - sometimes you need a considerable balance at the exchange to maximise profits on free introductory bets. Like £100+.

All said though, a positive experience for me so far and I'm carrying on.

Having never managed to understand traditional odds, decimal odds were a complete revelation to me. Much clearer and less mysterious. Matched betting uses fractional odds.

Gah no! Matched betting uses decimal odds. Apologies. It's been a hectic day.

Reach out to who. Your post doesn’t make much sense.

And definitely recommend to others not clicking on random links that people post re gambling/casino.

By all means, check out (independently) Team Profit, TeamCasino etc. Plus OddsMonkey and PA. But don’t click on embedded links.
