Wotsits - they are now half Wotsit in my view.

Soreen malt loaf - picked up one in Tescos for £1, put it next to the ones I already had from Lidl in the freezer - nearly half the size.

I know I’m late to the party but any others leaping out at people?

Most Cadbury's chocolate bars like double decker and crunchie - selection boxes at Christmas are bloody laughable - it's basically miniature heroes in there.

Cadbury popping jelly candy chocolate, big bar. It's shrunk about 30g in size ( I can't confirm exact amount as I've eaten it). Soon enough the sharing size won't be for sharing anymore!

The sharing size was never for sharing 🐷

LetitiaLeghorn · 30/06/2022 18:38

Not recent but Wagon Wheels are a sorry shadow of their former selves

Didn't they used to be the size of an actual wagon's wheel? That's how I remember them anyway! 🤔

LetitiaLeghorn · 30/06/2022 18:41

The sharing size was never for sharing 🐷

🤭 Agreed.

Georgyporky · 30/06/2022 18:44

It's noticeable that a lot of these reported shrinkages are not about basic foods etc, but sweets & crisps.

listsandbudgets · 30/06/2022 18:49

I'm sure the jars of coffee I buy (Dowe Egberts) used to be 200g and now they appear to be 190g - a very subtle shrinkage but wouldn't take long for them to make quite a saving - price didn't go down of course!

Also DP noticed that the tiny little packs of lurpack butter you get in pubs etc. seem to have shrunk from 10g to 8g

I don't buy jaffacakes except for myself any more. We have 4 people in our family 12 divided up nicely to 3 each. Ten is a silly number :(

rubydoobydoo · 30/06/2022 18:49

Peperamis! They used to be twice as long, they're not much bigger than cocktail sausages now! The price didn't go down with the size though.

I used to love them but refuse to buy them any more as there just isn't enough of them and I can't justify buying two!

caringcarer · 30/06/2022 18:49

Twirls.

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 30/06/2022 18:50

Cadbury brunch bars. Used to be a decent snack, now they're tiny, in smaller packets in smaller boxes. Same price if not more.

MrsGamgee · 30/06/2022 18:50

🤭 Agreed.

Have you tried the white chocolate version? Not as many jelly sweets but still so good 🤤

thenightsky · 30/06/2022 18:51

Tins of tuna. I remember being able to buy 400g tins. They disappeared and you could only get the 200g tins. Then they went to 150g and now 110g.

thenightsky · 30/06/2022 18:52

ah... now that explains why there's never enough to cover both sides of a cheese scone anymore...

RudsyFarmer · 30/06/2022 18:55

Find us crispy pancakes. I stupidly bought these a while back and I’ve never been so disappointed in my life.

Closedlips · 30/06/2022 18:55

I only had 20 in my chocolate fingers' box the other day, and in 2015 they moved it from 24 to 22 apparently!

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 30/06/2022 18:56

All confectionery seems to have shrunk even further than the last round of shrinkflation a few years ago. I’ve just picked up a Cadbury’s Boost to pop into my diabetes kit, 48.5g when I’m sure the last one I bought was 60g last year(ish). And it was 75 ruddy pence!

greenbirdsong · 30/06/2022 18:59

All multipack chocolate bars like twix's are tiny these days!

Pleiades2020 · 30/06/2022 19:02

Yorkie's (though admittedly a long time ago). Used to be 6 chunks now 5.

On the other hand the cardboard tubes inside loo rolls seem to be getting bigger.

DottyLittleRainbow · 30/06/2022 19:02

Shrinkflation is everywhere. Pringles spring to mind as never buy them but treated us to a tube and was like “where’s the rest?!” But it’s basically everything really isn’t it.

stringbean · 30/06/2022 19:32

Agree with the brunch bars - used to get 6 in a box and now it's 5 and they're a lot smaller. Also breakfast cereal - things like Shreddies - buy the Tesco version but sometimes get a substitute - and the packs are all smaller (price is the same though).

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 30/06/2022 19:39

transformandriseup · 30/06/2022 16:50

Also baby wipes

Could it be because babies are getting smaller now?

(can't post the link, my phone has a mind of its own!)

soundsofthesixties · 30/06/2022 19:46

I swear Wagon Wheels were the size of my head when I was a child Grin

LetitiaLeghorn · 30/06/2022 19:51

@MrsGamgee If its got sugar and fat in it, I can guarantee you, I've tried it and liked it....and never shared it! 😉

Stevie6 · 30/06/2022 19:51

Asda frozen pork sausages have gone from 20 to 16, Seabrooks crisps 6 down to 5

Georgyporky · 30/06/2022 19:52

Crap shrinks, so stop buying crap.

catsmother · 30/06/2022 19:53

Chilled fruit juice - the standard used to be 1 litre. Now they're 950 to 850mls depending on the brand. Crunchy Nut cornflakes - the biggest box used to be a kilo, now it's 850g I think.

And countless other examples not only of volume decreasing but also quality. Ready made sandwich fillers for example may as well be called 'tuna slop' or 'egg mayo slush' because they've become far more (watery) mayo heavy to save on the protein costs. Similarly, pies with barely any meat in them. Pizzas with barely any of the toppings advertised once you open the box - small wonder the packaging obscures most of the product. I swear that the layer of custard in Tesco's custard slice has been halved. More space between the triangles in a Toblerone. There used to be 15 sweets in a Toffifee box, now there's 12. I'm pretty sure you used to get 44 pouches of cat food in the jumbo boxes but now it's 40, and whilst most brands weighed in at 100g a pouch, increasingly they're now 85 or even 80g. So called jacket potatoes in packs of 4 are tiny. Salmon portions were 140g, now 130g. Etc., etc., etc.

As a pp pointed out these shrunken goods are inevitably labelled as 'new' to draw your eye to them like that's an exciting positive thing when in fact what really pees me off is retailers treating their customers like we're so thick we don't notice the decreased value and/or effective price rise. And if a manufacturer is ever challenged to comment on this approach they usually come out with some mealy mouthed claptrap about the smaller size allowing consumers to 'continue to enjoy' whatever it is at 'a price they can afford' totally missing the bloody point that whole portions in some cases have vanished. The bottom line of course is that unless you can afford to make up the lost weight/volume/portion you will be either going without or probably filling up on less nutritious foods like bread or pasta.... but neither the supermarkets or manufacturers ever seem to acknowledge this basic truth.

Meanwhile, I see Tesco are currently offering 25% off 6 bottles of wine. That's all very well if you're planning a party but FFS isn't it far more important right now that they concentrate their discounts on actual food?
