Moving house - gas and electricity supplier?

We are in the process of buying our first house and hope to be in by Easter. Gas and electricity are currently supplied to the property by Eon.

Should I just sign up with them? I'm embarrassingly clueless about this as have previously always rented and have not had gas. I suspect I'm in a reasonably poor position due to the timings but we don't really have a choice.

Any advice (using small words Wink ) would be greatly appreciated Smile

Just make sure they don't tie you into a hugely expensive fixed rate and that you can go on the standard variable rate which is covered by the price cap on price per kWh. There are no cheap fixed rates so they are all much of a muchness now

I'm utterly hopeless at this, and I would consider myself a fairly well functioning adult Confused

I tried to do a price comparison but it asked me for my current usage. I currently don't have an electric account and have never previously had a gas supply. I actually hate being an adult at times Grin

You will need to sign up with them anyways to start with as they would need to process your change of supply if you wanted to change. I would bother changing at the moment as there's not much difference with the way things are.

*wouldn't bother
