He’s an absolute genius isn’t he @CurlsandCurves :o 17 years ago may be around when I first saw him too - once in London then a year or two later in Brighton. He made a joke of his tangents last night and was saying it’s even worse now because he’s not been able to do shows for two years and in his words “all the bullshit has built up in my head” :o

Absolutely must make the effort to do that sort of thing more - we don’t have readily available childcare but DSD is happy to babysit now and again.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2022 13:16

Ah wolf that’s bloody annoying. Gws all

Taytocrisps · 12/02/2022 15:24

Well, DD has booked her holiday. They're going to Albufeira for a week. Their flights and accommodation (youth hostel) worked out at €588 per person which is very reasonable for a week. The hostel has very good reviews. The girls were all so excited Smile. DD is paying for it all herself with her savings but I'll help her out a bit with spending money. It will be a nice reward for all of their hard work this year.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2022 18:31

Sounds lovely tayto

Few more spends in town on sundries
£85 ds skate pass and £60 trainers. Decided against walking trainers as will just down grade current gym trainers saving £50

AdoraBell · 12/02/2022 19:03

Tayto Sorry you have been stressed out in work Flowers.
That's a lovely break for your Dd bless her for saving for it too that is an achievement to be proud of ! Smile I see Colin Morgan (Merlin) is in Belfast , we really like him & follow his career . May go to see this one .
Martha The Valley Murders is excellent we have seen it but thank you for the heads up , Have watched The Invisible Man film today which was ok. My Mum watches Katie Price and 22 kids and counting , she is glued to it Grin
Alfie she sounds like a horrible person , no wonder your Manager walked out!
Wolf Hope your Ds feels better soon bless him Flowers
Happier that is such a gorgeous puss cat no wonder you kept it Smile
Em hope the move has gone well Flowers

northender · 13/02/2022 07:43

I thought Belfast was a really good film, but a tough watch at times. Went with dd to see Death on the Nile last night which was fab. It's great to be back at the cinema again. We go a local independent place which is more expensive than multiplex alternatives, but have the comfiest armchairs & sofas and we had ice creams last night which were really reasonable (£3 for huge amount in a waffle cone) so £30 for the 2 of us.
Took mum shopping earlier in the day. I did a food shop & spent £9 on fabrics for my next quilt project. Mum paid for lunch out & it was lovely to spend some time with her.
Ds has made a bit of a last minute decision to try to find a sandwich year industrial placement so today will be testing my CV writing skills! I really want him to get something as I think it would do him the world of good to get away & do something different for a year. He's had such a challenging & crap few years I really hope he hasn't left it too late for this.

Is that a play park In the garden em? Looks lovely

Wolfcub · 13/02/2022 09:45

Looks
Lovely Em

CurlsandCurves · 13/02/2022 10:08

Wow nice place, @ememem84 !

Off to work in a mo, it’s chucking it down here so no doubt the town will be dead and so will we. Myself and co worker can keep busy with cleaning, pottering, stuff that no one has time for during the week. Might see if I can tidy one of the stock rooms up a bit more, there’s one that’s up 2 flights of stairs that always gets missed.

DH is out tonight so I’m looking forward to doing a bit of a pamper evening, got a turkey chilli and garlic bread out the freezer. Can’t wait for a quiet, chilled out evening.

ememem84 · 13/02/2022 10:31

@lifelongfrugaleer

Is that a play park In the garden em? Looks lovely
Yep. The kids were so excited!

£29 golf club breakfast. It was delish. I’m not usually a full English person but today it’s going to be busy and DH and I might not get lunch. So made the right choice. It was huge. And yum. And £9. Really good quality food too. Kids had pancakes and fruit. Yummmm.

Unescorted · 13/02/2022 10:57

Morning...

Em nice view!

Alfie good luck with the Monday interview. I hear what you are saying - some people just do that to me.

North I am glad Death on The Nile is good. We re planning on seeing it today. I need the distraction.

DDad did not have a Hollywood death. I need something to block that out. My mum did an emotional blackmail and made me sleep in the same room as her & my Ddad's body. They forgot to turn the sodding bed off so every 15 minutes I was woken up by what I thought was my dead dad trying to get out of bed as it tried to stop him getting bedsores. It is one of those things that I am going to have to laugh about it or it will give me nightmares.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/02/2022 11:04

Fucking hell unescorted . Sorry to hear about you dad and the black mail from mum.
The not turning the bed off is a bit funny but I imagine freaky at the time. I’d have been shitting my self tbh at the time

Oh and have a huge ((((hug))))

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/02/2022 11:05

That possibly tells you too much about my warped sense of humour Hmm

Wolfcub · 13/02/2022 11:17

I think Life and I might share the same sense of humour. So sorry Unescorted and your mum is really taking the whole packet of biscuits at the moment

Unescorted · 13/02/2022 11:49

Thanks.

It is quite funny.... I didn't dare get out of bed to try to turn it off in the dark and didn't want to turn the light on in case it woke my mum and I had to sit through the Queen Victoria act in the wee hours of the morning.

OP posts:
lifelongfrugaleer · 13/02/2022 13:05

Probably the best course of action and the last thing to press the wrong button In the dark and dad sits up.
Hope you get some rest today

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/02/2022 13:05

Last thing you needed that should say

Mrsmadevans · 13/02/2022 14:40

Hi everyone, can I join quietly please? I'm currently tracking every penny spent in a notebook and I'm doing four savings challenges so far - 52 week challenge for Christmas, skint Dad's 1p challenge for Summer holiday, £5 save as you get them challenge and a birthday fund for the children. Hopefully I've found my people but if not I'll slink off again quietly and you won't even notice I was here .. Wink
