I feel bad telling porkies I made an excuse about needing to go to an appointment with dm for yesterday’s assessment luckily they didn’t press it any further but no idea what excuse to use for Monday even drs appointments they require text proof

Lovemaltesers · 11/02/2022 11:07

What would happen if you told them the truth alfie? I wouldn’t be too impressed if I found out a potential employee had lied to their current employer to attend.

Alfiemoon1 · 11/02/2022 11:44

I don’t know I’ve never been in this position before I’ve always managed to fit interviews around my work hours do they have to give you time off for interviews. My lovely team manager has walked out so everything has to go via the centre manager and she gives me anxiety lol probably just because I have heard how awful she so when she put me on the spot regarding my annual leave request being short notice I got all flustered tongue tied and that was the first thing that came out of my mouth

8stone13 · 11/02/2022 14:26

@Wolfcub My daughter used to have nosebleeds, you just don't need the drama!

Busy day today, been up to Scotland & back & am heading to London later this evening! Spend so far today £9.30 on a train ticket, it was £34.30 but I used one of my remaining £25 vouchers.

The gf & I are away for a weekend, leaving tonight - petrol, hotel & breakfasts are budgeted for, so I just need to fund other meals.

NB by way of an update, all the old doors have now gone & the chap who collected a few of them left a tenner to buy some sweets for my kids which was lovely of him 😊 New doors all installed & they apparently approve of the temperature, their view etc 😀

Wolfcub · 11/02/2022 17:19

Service and mot £280. Don't think that was bad especially as Ned brake pads needed so I think we might grab some fish and chips for tea. Ds is feeling rubbish but I'm mean and made him go to school

Alfiemoon1 · 11/02/2022 18:11

Dh car had its mot today passed phew being serviced tomorrow so that will be just over £200 not sure on the exact amount yet

AdoraBell · 11/02/2022 20:08

Top up shop this morning, £18, included a T-shirt from Sainabury’s. I need T-shirts, all of mine have worn out. Only 1 in my size.

ememem84 · 11/02/2022 20:38

I think I’m done. Packed up everything for 6 weeks for myself into two backpacks and a suitcase.

The dc have been packed into a laundry bag a suitcase and a trunki.

I’ve a box of bathroom/toiletries to be moved.

Sports things. Swimming stuff etc.

Tomorrow we move all of that plus the kitchen stuff we’re keeping and will need (coffee machine!!! Special cups etc!)

Then on Sunday DH and I come back here and dump the rest of the kitchen stuff we don’t need or want to replace. And then move all the furniture upstairs that we’re keeping.

marthasmum · 11/02/2022 22:05

Sounds like a lot of work em but hopefully worth it!
alfie good luck with the interview. I can understand getting flustered. I’m not good at being assertive but they are obliged to give you interview time.
unescorted hope the baking goes well!
mrs I just saw something advertised on tv…the valley murders?
I am indulging my guilty pleasure and watching 22 kids and counting. In another life I could have been one of those women who just kept having babies.
Felt a bit bad today because DS1 told me I’m often distracted and don’t pay attention when he’s trying to tell me important things ☹️ He said it very nicely and said he knows I’m busy which is more ☹️ . I have been working so many evenings and while I am always busy I could have better boundaries, some of it is anxiety driven:

Alfiemoon1 · 11/02/2022 22:55

I feel ridiculous I am in my 40s and for some reason she turns me into a jibbering wreck and I’ve only met her a few times not spoken to her much and not had any runs ins with her but it’s the general opinion in the office she’s not approachable and when I was in the office someone was either not passing their probation or being sacked he did leave that day so everyone was gossiping about it and her. Never needed to have anything to do with her until my manager walked out a few weeks ago

Good luck em hope the move goes well

ememem84 · 12/02/2022 07:27

Thanks martha and afternoon. It’s odd knowing we’re only moving temporarily but not allowed to come back. Not quite a holiday. But not a orrmenant move.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2022 07:37

You sound very well prepped em. Hope you have some help too as that’s a lot of shifting around.
No advice on the interview it’s tricky though.
Yeah to cars passing mots and services

£15 yesterday on tea with friends. I drove so they bought my pop
Supermarket and admin day. Have some bills to pay

SingToTheSky · 12/02/2022 08:04

Marthas I haven’t watched the latest shows, I have enough difficulty with three kids 😂 sorry you feel guilty, it’s hard balancing everything 💐

Exciting times em I am another impressed by your organisation!

Alfie plenty of adults can feel intimidated by particular people, it’s not your fault 💐

Had our first night out in years last night - DSD looked after the Caglets while we went to see Ross Noble, which had been cancelled twice due to covid. Laughed so much my face hurt 😆

Taytocrisps · 12/02/2022 09:06

Morning everyone. So glad it's the weekend. Work has been crazy busy this past month or so. One of my staff has been off sick since before Christmas and we're all feeling the pressure.

Anyway, I've a nice weekend planned. DD is hoping to go on a sun holiday with her friends during the summer, so I'm meeting some of the other parents this afternoon, to discuss it all. Then I'm watching the rugby match this evening.

Tomorrow we're going to the cinema, to see 'Belfast', and we're going to have lunch or dinner out.

Need to fit in a walk or two also, as I'm doing a sponsored walk this month.

Going to try out a new dish today - prawn satay.

Hope you're all keeping well. I'll catch up on your news one of these days.

Happierwithouthim · 12/02/2022 09:28

Sounds yum tayto
Did they figure out the 18 year old necessity part of the holiday?

Em how come ye can't go back into your own house?

8 great news about the doors Grin

CurlsandCurves · 12/02/2022 09:40

Morning!

Having a lazy start before tackling the housework.

@ememem84 sounds like you’re ready to go! Hope it all goes smoothly.

@Alfiemoon1 good luck with the interview. Just remember she’s just another human being like you at the end of the day.

@SingToTheSky I remember going to see Ross Noble almost 17 years ago, I was ready to pop with DS1. He’s awesome, how he keeps all the threads of what he’s talking about in his head, and be so damn hilarious as well, I don’t know!

@Taytocrisps we went to see Belfast the other week, loved it, hope you enjoy it too.

Taytocrisps · 12/02/2022 09:43

They're considering a youth hostel Happier. There doesn't seem to be an age requirement. And they could get a room for four - two sets of bunk beds. But anyway, I'll see what the other parents think.

Great idea
lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2022 11:23

Ooo you’ve adopted it after all happier, how’s cat settling with dog?

Ross noble is from around here and I’ve been to a few of his practice gigs. Brilliant

£95 in sainsburys fml. Lots is mil though

Wolfcub · 12/02/2022 11:48

So Ds is absolutely packed with a rotten cold
, sore throat, temp and chesty cough. He's been up all night so we're both knackered and it feels like it's starting on my chest too. Lat flows negative but will do again tomorrow
Thing I had planned this morning called off after I'd driven an hour to get there so not best chuffed. Called at Aldi on the way home to buy sweets to cheer ds up, pasta that doesn't cost £1 a bag, toothpaste, stock pots and flowers to cheer me up. A pie maker accidentally fell in my basket. £32
Going to curl up and watch the rugby before the next dog walk. Windows all open though so it's freezing

Alfiemoon1 · 12/02/2022 12:31

Morning all dh picked his car up £296 for mot and service
Wet and windy here again so doing housework got to take ds to work later and me and dh might have tea there as we are both working Valentine’s Day any excuse to use ds staff discount
Need to do a food shop but may do that tomorrow

Happierwithouthim · 12/02/2022 12:45

Life the whole reason for taking him on was rodent control, not one present yet and he has been here over a month Grin
Dc adore him so he's staying

Wolf that's so frustrating you expect things like that when they're small but not now.
