Taytocrisps · 29/03/2022 19:48

I checked my prize. It's a few things grouped together - the book Nora (about Nora Joyce), tickets to the Museum of Literature Ireland and a family pass for EPIC (the Irish Emigration Museum). I mainly entered the competition 'cos of the EPIC pass. EPIC is supposed to be really good - it's won loads of tourist awards. And it's €16.50 entry for adults so I've saved a few bob. Now I just need to convince DD that she really wants to visit some museums over the summer and not Tayto Park (theme park).

Hoping I get lucky with my other competition entry - free petrol for a year.

Unescorted · 29/03/2022 20:49

Nice one happier.

Feels smug about hard floors. Manky carpets are grim. The vac does the rugs in case people were wondering.

My new larger washing line arrived... All the better to take advantage of the 3 sunny days we average each summer.

I bought a Shark and I’m wondering if there’s something up with it because I’m really not loving it! It just doesn’t seem to have enough power. I can’t even use it on hard floors as it just does not pick up at all.

Have had it about 8months.

Going back to work on Thursday and wow did I need that time off for the dreaded Covid. It’s been horrible. But I’m out the other side now. Pay packet this month has taken a bit of a battering as a result but touch wood I’ll still be able to save what I need to.

I’m not sure what I’ll be going back into as staffing has changed since I was last in which might affect me long term. Sorry for being vague but it’s just boring and I’m worried about how they’re going to be able to give me the hours. No pint worrying over what’s not happened yet tho.

ememem84 · 29/03/2022 21:16

Off to Ireland this weekend. Although annoyingly instead of being able to fly direct to dublin there’s some issues with the airlines licences and we have to fly to Belfast instead and bus to dublin. Sigh. But still. Weekend away. Yay. And DH is staying home with the kids. Yay

Happierwithouthim · 29/03/2022 22:28

Enjoy hen weekend em prepare for shock of temple bar prices 💰💰💰

I broke my NSD a guy I follow on Instagram gave this book 9.3/10 said it's the best book he's ever read, I figured that was high praise so ordered it, €10 for free delivery from easons so bought triangular pencils for ds, total spend €11.48.

My df has Covid, my childminders dm has it too, so no childminder for another week, I'll just have to start 30 mins later & put them on bus myself.

Taytocrisps · 29/03/2022 22:47

Have a good time at the weekend em. Annoying about having to fly via Belfast though. I forget if it's for work or a hen weekend? Anyway, I'd steer well clear of Temple Bar unless you want to pay exorbitant prices.

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/03/2022 06:25

Sounds a chew em but will be worth it
Definitely not right curls. Get onto shark
Hope your hours are not badly affected

Blooming Covid happier but that doesn’t sound too bad for work

The park entrance sounds good tayto, fingers crossed for fuel win

Weren’t those 3 days last week unescorted. >

ememem84 · 30/03/2022 06:26

Hen weekend! And I’ve been warned about temple bar prices. Akin to central London I believe.

It’s frustrating that the flights have moved but nothing much can be done about it.

Although have seen on the WhatsApp group that the majority of the people going have now changed their flights so instead of coming back Sunday they’re all coming back Monday now. Can I do that? No. Booo.

Happierwithouthim · 30/03/2022 07:23

Yes em and they go up even more after midnight

Life Grin** its damp here this morning after being out in a T-shirt yesterday and the last few days Wink
It'll be ok for work and I'll get to know how it affects me money wise & see if it would be an option for next school year Wink

Got my refund from a bar that I got charged twice for my round on 5th March, they said they replied to me and it must have gone to spam, I'll check on pc because it's definitely not showing up on my phone.

Bornlazy · 30/03/2022 09:46

Need a nsd badly. Hoping today is the day.

We have been spending a lot of money on our house lately. We had our drive mono blocked and now we've had new soffits and guttering done, which was so badly needed, but still, £2600 🙈

Weather has been lovely here but is much colder today and a bit damp. I couldn't even put a washing out the last few days because of roof work going on. The amount of washing I have to do in this house is shocking! Obviously the washing is the easy part it's the drying it and putting it away that is soul destroying. I have given up on the ironing as things were coming out of drawers and cupboards creased anyway.

There is plenty of scope in this house to cut back on energy usage. I said to ds2 this morning that showers are getting restricted to 10 mins and he just looked at me like I was mad.

Happier I am always disappointed in vacuum cleaners. They start off great but quickly lose their edge in my opinion. I have a shark, a dyson and a G-tech cordless. I think my long hair doesn't help as the brushes get tangled quickly. Maybe I just don't maintain them properly.

Curls glad you're feeling better. Hope your hours are safe.

em enjoy Dublin.

Mrs you have a gift I just don't possess, being able to go into bargain shops like Home Bargains and spending under £10 is truly amazing 😉

Happierwithouthim · 30/03/2022 11:23

Born weather great here too but obviously farmers taking advantage too so there's slurry out Grin here with heating on trying to dry out sitting room carpet

AdoraBell · 30/03/2022 12:31

Most of my days are NSD but today I’ve splurged on coffee and cake, plus bus fare. £7.80 return ticket, £5.60 ish in coffee shop. On the plus side I thought about my jewellery, gold that I bought in the 80’s/90’s, haven’t worn for ages. So I sold, £600 into savings 😁

Wolfcub · 30/03/2022 19:18

Parents evening. Need gin. How can I have a kid who is part genius yet making a bollox of the basics because he's a lazy sod. Ffs.

AdoraBell · 30/03/2022 19:27

🍸🍸 here you go Wolf

ememem84 · 30/03/2022 21:54

Apartment here is a mess. I’ve half packed for the weekend. Half packed to move out.

We annoyingly have to move out of the apartment and into a small cottage this weekend for our final week here (but cottage comes with hot tub so not all bad…)

But it means DH is doing the move by himself as I’m away. So to help out I’ve packed my stuff for dublin in small suitcase and have mostly packed my stuff up into another one. Will do the remains tomorrow and then shove the kids outfits into bags. DH is a classic “I forgot stuff” guy so I’m making it easy for him by packing my things.

But man. It’s hard.

Frugal not frugal win. Because my flight out to dublin has to go via Belfast (then bus into dublin) the airline have issued everyone a 100% off voucher for a free return flight jersey dublin between now and end of October. So whilst it’s a win I’ll end up spending because I’m going with dsis again sometime. Yay.

Took my panther pictures to be framed yesterday. Pick these up next week £98. Pay on collection. Spendy but they are nice pieces and will be on the wall for a while. So wanted them done properly.

Taking things back to shops tomorrow. Bought a couple of dresses in new look today. One doesn’t do up (bigger size would be too big) and the other is far too short on the sides. Front and back it’s mini length but scoops up. So it’s a no. Also taking back some high waisted black satin shorts (not sure why I thought these would be a good idea) and a blue shirt.

Mrsmadevans · 30/03/2022 22:27

Oh wolf, little bugger
Managed to get some LFT tests yesterday for free

CurlsandCurves · 31/03/2022 09:34

Have a fab time away @ememem84 and best of luck to your DH for the move.

Payday today and I’ve transferred what I’d planned to over to my savings in spite of the low pay packet. I’m sure I’ll manage and if not I can move it back again. Only £200 away from my goal now.

Taking meter readings in a bit ready for the energy price hike.

Work later, worried bout what I’ll be walking into.

Weigh in tonight, worried about that too, after a week of Covid, not wanting to cook and going in on the toast and butter instead!

Timetoswitch · 31/03/2022 15:35

I normally do loads of laundry on Friday, so I’ve done it all a day early this week 😂 We have a smart meter so don’t need to take the readings today.

ememem84 · 31/03/2022 15:44

Eugh laundry. Need to do loads tonight.

Mrsmadevans · 31/03/2022 18:55

NSD for me yay! Have not joined the washing everything today brigade because l wouldn't be able to dry it on the line , snowing and hailing and freezing here Hmm
I am thinking about the old fashioned twin tub with a spinner on the side am sure they would be much cheaper to run you know Grin

Wolfcub · 31/03/2022 19:28

Payday paid myself first and nearly cried at losing half my hard earned bonus to tax
£4 card for a colleague (has to be virtual so they hold you to ransom)
5.75 farm shop pie

ememem84 · 31/03/2022 20:28

Airline emailed. Flying back from Belfast too. But in my own. Because everyone else was sensible and booked Monday off work. So they can stay the extra day.

Whatever. Nice coach nap from dublin to belfast. Then airport chill. Then plane nap.
