I've just ordered myself another cheapy oodie type thing. I'm swealtering in the one I've got so I need to wear these more when it's cold and stop putting the heating on

But so much luckier than people on benefits. Ex is actually having his gas capped off because he can't afford the cost increase. £15 a month increase on the standing charge alone. For someone on basic benefits that's a big deal

marthasmum · 02/03/2022 21:44

wolf I feel you on the price hike, that's rubbish
/em hope it stays mild
unescorted I'd say go for it...Could you frame it as it's a present specifically to him because you have a mutual interest in art and want to encourage him? Then it's specific to him iyswim and there's no reason why it should involve the LB.
We are being quite strict with our new heating controls , it's made me realise we had it on more than I thought.

We’ve finally had our pay rise for April 21 agreed in the last couple of days (local gov). Back pay should come this month. Hoping it covers the increase in NI in April Hmm as I’ll never have had a normal months proper pay this year.

I keep turning lights off now, and need to turn more stuff off standby. Trying to eek out washing and dish washer loads a bit more. And washing when it can go out especially things like sheets. We can manage the increase unless it goes really bonkers, but I’d rather reduce consumption where we can.

I’m worried about interest rate rises, our fixed rate ends early Jan 23 so must sort that when eligible.

ememem84 · 03/03/2022 16:42

I stopped work about an hour ago. Exhausted doesn’t cut it. On couch watching greys anatomy.

I’ve spent….nothing this week.

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/03/2022 18:18

Rest up em
Good plan love. Reducing consumption with new habits is a good idea
Remember you can bag a fixed rate mortgage 3 month i think in advance with lots of lenders

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/03/2022 18:23

Nsd though my ikea delivery arrived at 0705: bonus no waiting in

Have just used my M&S vouchers to buy this dress for my Mum's 90th birthday party beginning of May, it's not too young for me is it ? www.marksandspencer.com/linen-rich-animal-print-midi-shirt-dress/p/clp60525323#&gid=1&pid=2

Waves to everyone Smile

ememem84 · 03/03/2022 20:54

Oooh mrs I love that dress. What are you wearing it with? Personally I’d go a black biker jacket and a wedge.

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/03/2022 20:56

It’s a lovely dress . Don’t know how old you are and frankly shouldn’t matter but I’m 46 3/4 and I would wear it

We have frogspawn in our pond. Love the plants and animals popping up we didn’t know we had. Explains why the dog has been obsessed with the pond - froggies

mrs not too old at all it looks cool and classy!

ememem84 · 03/03/2022 21:43

I’d wear it. I’m 37 and am a sucker for a bit of animal print!!!

I’d also go big hair. Huge. Massive.

Startagaintoday · 04/03/2022 06:08

@Mrsmadevans love it. NSD yesterday

CurlsandCurves · 04/03/2022 08:14

@Mrsmadevans that dress is gorgeous, love it!

@ememem84 hope you’re feeling rested this morning.

Still no word from BG re energy price increase. Every time I login I get ‘your Bill is being reviewed’ or something like that. I just want to know what we are up against!

Just bread and milk needed today.

ememem84 · 04/03/2022 08:34

DH now has covid. Sigh. So much for my restful day.

Lovemaltesers · 04/03/2022 11:05

Oh no em. Hope you are feeling a bit better today?

Went for my smear test earlier 😬 urgh, but a necessity and done.

£39 Tesco. Food. Not a lot.
£31 on slightly less than half a tank of petrol. 😱 Thought I’d fill up before price rises again.

Will walk to the pharmacy in a bit. It’s at the bottom of a steep hill, and probably 2 miles there and back. I’d normally drive.

Froze my fingers off hanging out the washing today. Two loads drying. But it will then still need to be hung up again indoors as it won’t be completely dry.

A lot of money savings things do seem to take a lot of time. I’m bad at valuing my time more than the money saved 🤔

Lovemaltesers · 04/03/2022 11:06

I also stacked the dishwasher so well, so it’s the first time it’s been on in two days.

ememem84 · 04/03/2022 11:18

I’m spending the day on the couch watching greys anatomy.

DH is working from home. He’s ok. Just a positive lft.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/03/2022 13:46

Yes there are times I’m time poor so throw money at it,
Oh no em. Hopefully he will be ok and you are on the mend.
I have a £130 sainsburys shop coming tomorrow. Some is for mil but sheesh. Not really meals either but am making a cake and full roast for fil birthday. Would be cheaper from Aldi with a sainsburys add on but , time poor

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/03/2022 13:47

This cake for those who will ask www.nigella.com/recipes/ginger-and-walnut-carrot-cake

AdoraBell · 04/03/2022 14:05

Spend day, £15 on 3 T-shirts in Sainsbury’s, £14-ish on top up shop. £34 on a replacement cable from Dyson. One of the dogs stood on the cable while DH was vacuuming. At least we didn’t have to buy another hoover, so I’m claiming it as a frugal win.

DH fixed our electric for 1 year, if he’d done it last month it would have been fixed for 2 years 🤦‍♀️
