Patching inside leg of jeans?

Has anyone done this ? Have any tips?

Where they get worn between your legs?

I do this on DH's jeans.
The best way I have found is to put the patch on the inside of the jeans instead of the outside.

It reduces the damage done by friction when walking.

Kitkat151 · 30/01/2022 12:02

I just bin mine🙄

Savingpeoplehuntingthings · 30/01/2022 12:05

I do this. I put a big patch on the inside so it covers both legs at the top.

TowandaForever · 30/01/2022 13:46

Do you guys mean a sticky patch you iron or a different fabric?

OP posts:
Gardengates · 30/01/2022 13:49

I wouldn't use the sticky patches as they tend to be quite stiff, lift at the corners and can be quite rough. Not what you want rubbing on the inner thigh.

My best advice is patches cut from a really old, soft pair of jeans. I have 2 old pairs in blue and grey which I take patches from when I need to.

A seamstress machine darned mine for £8 (both legs).

What have you had done there? Hard to tell from your photo?

You put the patch on the inside then sew back and forward all over it in a matching thread to add strength. It's really easy, but the bit by the crotch is hard to get to with a machine so can be awkward.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 30/01/2022 17:26

@TowandaForever, can you see in the red circle, she sewed lots of of lines of stitching backwards and forwards across watts patch where they’d worn thin.

I don't see a red circle in that picture?

But I do understand now. Thankyou.

I bought iron on patches, haven’t done anything yet🤦‍♀️ Really need to.

NigellaAwesome · 03/02/2022 19:51

I've just been thinking about doing this to my favourite pair of jeans. They are wearing very thin.

I was going to do this but read that they come off and feel rough.

I took mine to be patched. Paid £10. Haven't collected them yet.
