Letter through the post this morning, VM services are going up by a few quid in March. Having just renegotiated my broadband deal down to £29 a month this was somewhat unwelcome news.

So simply phone them up 0800 052 2001 (it's free) preferably with a phone registered to VM (I'm with Tesco Mobile but the number is registered with them as my contact).

Navigate the automated menu (change my services) which allows you to access a second menu where you can select 'thinking of leaving us'. There you'll hit a recording asking you to confirm your postcode (if recognises the number your calling from). You'll then be offered a discount for 6 months comparable to the price rise you've just been informed of. No need to speak anyone, no change to your services, took literally a minute.

For me it was only a few quid a month however a saving is a saving. And for anyone who subscribes to multiple services this amount may be more significant.

Feel a slight fraud here as I'm male but I do enjoy reading these forums. Comfort to be had knowing everyone else has relatable day to day problems.

Hope that saves a few of you some hard earned money.

Didn't work for me. Left on hold waiting for someone to answer.

Worked for me, they notified me my monthly service was increasing by £9 from March. Did as above and its now £8.50 p/m less than I was paying.
Thanks for the tip x

I probably shouldn’t do this but if you are NOT a current customer then I can’t get it half price for you for a year. I’m so sorry I can’t help people who are already customers. I get an allocated number of ‘mates rates’ every year and I never give them out - have worked there for years and they always go to waste. If anyone does want one of them let me know and I’ll help.

Genuinely sorry I can’t help with discounts for leaving customers or current ones. My role is nothing to do with customer services so I don’t have any contacts in that area sadly. Sad

I had the message for a short while but the forum posts suggest it is not quite so generous as they would have us think!

have had real trouble trying to leave them. Hours of my life and it is still not resolved for certain. I think they are absolutely awful for it and I plan to never return. They have had lots of leavers, I do understand. I will probably take out a rolling contract until hyperoptic is fully up and running in my area which will be in a matter of months. Price and speed wise, I'm sure it will be an improvement and i'd rather not lock myself in to another long contract.

Thanks! I had to speak to a person but mine is sorted now

@Poisonata thanks for the tip. Spoke to them this morning and have now gone from £29/month (plus £3.30 rise) for broadband and free SIM to £35/month for broadband, free SIM plus TV. Very happy with that.

Thank you! Just did it and got a £5.75 discount for 6 months. It all helps Smile
