SSP when self employed

Can I get this? When I Google I keep getting directed to employee benefits…

I’ve been off sick for a few months … Realistically I won’t be back to even part time work until April/May.

You would have to claim some other benefit as you don't qualify for SSP if self employed

Maybe ESA or Universal Credit would be available to you

You have to claim ESA.
My husband took ill. He was self employed. We didn’t claim for a wee while as we thought he would be back at work soon but he didn’t. So we then claimed it took about 8 weeks before we got a payment. It was backdated to when we claimed from but the first week of the claim is ignored. So you must apply now. We are now on a years assessment period but in my husbands case he will probably not work again.
