Did loves her period pants, such a great idea.
Love all your party ideas life but glad I'm past all that!
Stressful day yesterday as dad had a fall & spent the day in A&E waiting to have his dislocated shoulder put back in. He looks suddenly old & unsteady but I'd stubborn & grumpy too!
Managed not to resort to takeaway though for tea & got free parking at the hospital as I was there less than 30 mins when picking up.

Unescorted · 25/08/2021 07:39

North I hope your DDad makes a quick recovery and his confidence doesn't take a dip too.

I was thinking what we said to DD and then remembered that we didn't because she was (one of) the last to start. All her friends had had them for years.

Happier fingers crossed on the child care for you.

I need distractions today - DD is going in for her long awaited tooth surgery. It is a case of 3rd time lucky. She has just let me know that it hasn't been cancelled and she is first up. It seems odd to drop her off at the door.

Sorry to hear about your dads fall north

Hope it goes well for your DD unescorted

Trying to get back into frugal mindset here. Did some batch cooking in the last few days so six meals in the freezer… realised the last time we did this was before the first lockdown Blush

We’ve got a broken part in the bathroom, contacted plumber but they are too busy. So DH has taken sink apart using YouTube and ordered parts. We’ll see how that goes! Bathroom is in pieces at present.

DH has been selling loads of old treasure from the loft on eBay rather profitably.

We went for a lovely walk in the forest yesterday with no spends except petrol, and heading to the beach hopefully later. Will be parking and probably chips. We only live 20 minutes from the beach but only properly go about once a year Blush as we struggle with heat but don’t don’t enjoy it being 18 degrees either. Love a wrapped up in coats/boots walk at the beach though.

I’m after a new mobile though, money is saved for it. It just needs to drop in price first though Grin

Lovemaltesers · 25/08/2021 12:16

DH has collected the part and fitted it. It’s a DIY miracle! normally takes months for DIY jobs to be done here

Gensola · 25/08/2021 15:11

£13.92 top up shop in Lidl. IVF scan went well - 12 eggs visible and she thinks more there she couldn’t see because my bladder was full Blush

HumbugWhale · 25/08/2021 15:23

That's promising news Gen. I hope it all goes well for you.

I have also been topping up in Lidl, £20. Spendy day as I also had to buy 3 x school shoes and water bottles, parking in town and a birthday present.

Hope your dad recovers quickly North.

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/08/2021 18:28

Sounds very promising gen
Have about 200 caps left but my tracking is only about 75% accurate. Hungry today
8800 steps but need to dog walk

Mrsmadevans · 25/08/2021 18:48

Hope your poor dad recovers quickly North Flowers
12 eggs OMG Gen that sounds excellent everything crossed for you Flowers
Humbug the price on the shoes is enough to make you cry , l can well remember having to get the Dds new shoes for every term because they grew so much. Dd1 is a size 8 and DD2 is a 10, both 6 foot tall, I am a 7 and their father is a 12 so they had no hope of being a petite young lady Grin
Love that sounds a great win well done to your Dh! YAY!
Unescorted hope your Dd is ok after the surgery bless her Flowers
Been to Aldi only 10 for me today Smile

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/08/2021 06:52

God yes school shoes. We have that joy on Monday

Hope dad is recovering ok north
Yeah for you tube love

MeadowHay · 26/08/2021 08:20

North Hope your DF is ok Flowers.I love my period pants, I have Modibodis and think they're fab. Thinking I can use them post-partum too once the initial super heavy bleeding calms down.

Hope it goes well Gen.

Yesterday spends were £31 on some online pregnancy exercise classes. I got 5 classes for that, although I had £4 credit to use from a refund from a class that was cancelled due to instructor illness ages ago.

DD seems to be slowly settling into the new room at nursery. She was apparently better on Tuesday PM and she was awful at drop off again yesterday but they said she had a much better day yesterday and calmed down quickly and actually had her breakfast yesterday. Then this morning she didn't seem so worried and was saying "I will be happy at X room today mummy" so it sounds like she's starting to feel more comfy. DH is dropping her today so be interested to hear how that goes.

Today may be an NSD I reckon. Am starting my CBT-influenced guided self-help sessions this morning too for my anxiety so hopefully that will be helpful.

Mrsmadevans · 26/08/2021 16:50

Meadow that is brilliant that your Dd is settling into nursery bless her and you 😊🤗
Excellent stuff re your CBT for the anxiety it's a great help l found it helped me no end when l had anxiety after a terrible delivery on Dd2 💐

marthasmum · 26/08/2021 18:15

gen wow that’s fab news, all the very best
north hope your dad is ok
love hope the bathroom is back together 😂
meadow good luck with the CBT. It’s painful leaving them at nursery when they’re not happy, I hope DD is getting used to it
mrs my DD also has size 10 feet! She is tall (with lovely long legs) and long toes Smile luckily she only likes wearing trainers but has to buy men’s.
Just on train back from Manchester after Oxford trip to see my old friends. Lovely time, we have known each other for 30 years and met in the first week of uni. £150 ish spends but worth it. Includes a nice print for DPs birthday which I think he will be pleased with.

Mrsmadevans · 26/08/2021 18:44

Martha sounds like you had a great day 🤗
My Dd's have long toes too . It's a running joke here that if they had to transplant their toes to use as fingers then no one would notice the difference 🤣🤣🤣

marthasmum · 26/08/2021 19:30

Yes, when all of them were born I checked their toes straight away to see if they had my feet or DPs long toes. They all have his toes so we think it must be a survival strategy 😂

MeadowHay · 26/08/2021 20:08

That's so interesting, DH has very long toes, we call them "finger toes" because they are so dextrous with their length Grin mine are not at all and DD has my short, stubby, slightly rounded toes haha.

Mrsmadevans · 26/08/2021 20:41

Martha & Meadow GrinGrin

HumbugWhale · 26/08/2021 20:50

Anyone watching SWFL? I'm enjoying it and I like the couple but it has made me worry about the generation who are putting themselves under so much pressure with their appearances online. Sp pleased I didn't have that in my teens/twenties.

Mrsmadevans · 26/08/2021 21:20

Yes we watched it Humbug , l liked them too they were lovely boys Smile
I am glad l didn't have this pressure too tbh Shock

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/08/2021 06:47

Was at Zumba so will watch on catch up swfl
lsd yesterday kid’s wanted kfc and dh got our dinner from Aldi
Need to plan a food shop as stocks are low. It’s that balance of having enough in but not stocked up

Wolfcub · 27/08/2021 07:21

I had the same thought as you Humbug

Wolfcub · 27/08/2021 09:24

I really need to stay off the Christmas thread. I've spent a fortune. On the plus side one of my beiges is done for birthday and Christmas gifts. I'm nearly done for ds for birthday and Christmas gifts and I've got stocking fillers for other people.

Gensola · 27/08/2021 12:37

Payday came and I put all money for planned spends plus food and petrol aside and the rest went off debt. Scary but it’s the only way we will get anywhere I think.
Food this week has cost £50, usually we spend twice that, so am pleased.
If we keep to the budget I have set the credit cards should be gone by November pay, then we can start saving.

HumbugWhale · 27/08/2021 16:42

Pay day here too, thank goodness! August has been a very spendy month with extra school holiday treats and so on.

Mrsmadevans · 27/08/2021 20:45

Great frugal wins Gen well done! Smile
Only spent 13 in Waitrose while l was picking up my meds, our Waitrose has a pharmacy in it too so its very convenient Smile
Wolf sounds like you have done a lot toward Christmas already , l look at the Christmas threads too , they are excellent bargains , think l will pop over there now Smile

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/08/2021 21:06
