Alternatives to SKY

Hi,
We have been customers of Sky since we moved into our current house 11 years ago and they’re forever increasing the price! We have tv (no extra channels), phone and broadband with them. We ended up with them as we live off of a shared driveway and neither ourselves or neighbours wanted the driveway lifting for other providers to fit cables. Considering we hardly watch tv and never use the phone (we use our mobiles) can anyone suggest any cheaper alternatives that wouldn’t rely on the drive being dug up? We are paying £86.99 for the basic package.
We don’t have an aerial btw - only the Sky dish outside on the wall.

This is why I dumped them. Should have done it years ago. They now send me very low deals with long sign up dates.
We do have now tv (through a phone deal) and it’s not great but good for sky specific series. Mostly we watch Netflix/prime or catch up apps.
You can just swop your broadband surely with existing set up and no digging required. We’ve moved to vodaphone and it’s way better than sky.

DH reckons we pay about £25/month for hi speed broadband (non cable) and line rental with Plusnet. We did have an inclusive call package, but seem to do Zoom/Teams/Skype these days so scrapped that.

We ditched SKY about 12 years ago and plugged a HUMAX Freesat recorder into the satellite dish. Freesat recorders seem to be about £200 now.

We have an Amazon Prime account (£8/month) so have an Amazon Fire TV stick plugged into the TV. This gives us the option to watch free and £ Amazon stuff as well as accessing iPlayer/All4/Youtube etc. Invariably these are on special offer, but I think they are usually about £20-£60. Our TV is quite old; more modern ones might be able to do a lot of this without an extra bit of kit.

So that's £33/month

We oh £40 a month for the Virgin TV + broadband.
It's absolutely fantastic

That’s terrible OP! We have basic channels sky, broadband unlimited and line rental for £31 a month all in

You just need to ring them and tell them you want to quit. Hold your nerve, keep going through all the layers of “are you sure?” “Are you sure”? And then you’ll get out through to the canx team who will magically offer you 50% to stay.

And if you REALLY want to test your nerve, say no to that, go ahead and cancel (it takes 2 weeks to disconnect) and about 3-5 days before it cuts off they’ll contact you with an even higher discount.

We moved to talk talk, half the price for faster unlimited internet and it never dips in the middle of the day (as Sky was prone to doing).
