Muppet chctostmas Carol is my fave!!! I read somewhere that michael Caine said he would only do it if he played it non muppetty so serious etc. Like he was in the rsc.

Dhs back is locking up again so that’ll be the next thing. He’s moping about.

My wisdom tooth is hurting. Luckily I’ve managed to get an appointment on Christmas Eve. Dh not happy about my appointment - we’re meant to be spending the day together with the kids and not doing appointments. Hmm

northender · 22/12/2020 07:19

Quick post before work. Did food/drink shop yesterday. Ridiculously expensive & definitely not frugal, but nothing will be wasted.
Dc did me proud & baked for the Devon parcel, so that is now ready to go off to the PO today, another tick and a relief.
Dh has a walk before work & will take Xmas cards, ds will drive me round with the rest later. That'll be another tick and relief. Have written more cards this year as not seeing people.

ememem84 · 22/12/2020 07:20

Eugh can’t get a food delivery. Checkout opened at 7. And is now closed. So I’m going to have to go to the shop myself.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/12/2020 07:58

Great news mrs

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/12/2020 08:11

Arthur Christmas is a lovely movie

Aldi today for bits run out of already. Need to amend big Sainsbury's shop tonight for collection tomorrow.

Boo em on no slots. Don't blame you for holding on to see DM and getting your tooth done.

Yeah to festive preparation and non frugality. This is why we are tight the rest of the year. I blew £70 of nectar points towards my shop. Which eases it a bit

Unescorted · 22/12/2020 08:21

em just give yourself plenty of time. It was really noticeable yesterday the difference between those who had mentally prepared and those who were getting into a tizz because it was busy. Plug yourself into an audio book...

For anyone who is not feeling Christmassy - I can send you a DD. She loves wrapping presents. I suspect if she had no money she would wrap empty boxes. She has made the most beautiful mantle piece decoration - it includes a ceramic skull she made to remember all those who have died this year. Which sounds really morbid but it is beautiful. Flowers done, table decorations done....This morning she is drafting up my embroidery templates so I can get stitching. I just need to make some Christmas biscuits so that we get the smell of all spice, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and citrus..... I might cheat and nuke a dollop of mincemeat in the microwave.

Great news Mrs hope he keeps on the up and up

Girlie in those circumstances the overdraft is essential, hope work is not too mad for you before Christmas

Arthur Christmas is a fab movie, I also love the Santa Clause for child friendly films. There are a lot more slightly grown up ones I love too

Ocado shop coming close to midnight, not sure how I will stay awake but it was the nearest one to Xmas when I booked in October. Then I have a booths order to collect for me and dm tomorrow. Not sure there is any real food in any of my shops basically I will be living in cheese, wine, charcuterie and sausage rolls for weeks. Which reminds me I need to fit sausage roll making in tomorrow.

Cleaning today, work is done bar two days on call. Waiting for df's car to get from the port to here so he can collect it.

Unescorted your festive decorating sounds fabulous

I’m going to brave it at lunchtime. I’ll be on foot so will just grab what I can and then can always send dh this evening again.

It’s mostly fruit etc we need. But will pick up the usual bits anyway.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/12/2020 09:40

Sounds like the perfect menu wolf.
Yy em list and elbows you will be fine

ememem84 · 22/12/2020 10:52

life oh im not taking a list... will be going off liste for this one. apparently things are running out... so will just grab what i can. absolutely elbows out though and glarey face on.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/12/2020 12:05

Run and grab is equally effective

ememem84 · 22/12/2020 12:12

ran grabbed and am back. i left at 1130. ish. and got back about 10 mins ago. went to iceland instead of coop. my sister told me the queue was going round the carpark so i took my chances with iceland. no queue straight in hardly anyone in there (because they're all at coop or m&S which are closer). £39 on the essential bits and dh can go coop later if he thinks we need to.

Wolfcub · 22/12/2020 12:53

Well done Em

House cleaned from top to bottom, ironing done, laundry put away and two loads washed. The only things left to do are wash the doormat when the towels finish, wash the kitchen floor when the doormat is in the machine and take the bottles to the bottle bank, oh and take the painting stuff back to the cellar. Phew!

No word from car man yet so I suspect it'll be between Xmas and new year now. I pity them as df is not a patient man and I bet he's on the phone to them every day

Mrsmadevans · 22/12/2020 13:48

isawthatt · 22/12/2020 14:51

Hiya, I’ve got back into flying!. The DC have been okay today, we did some jigsaws this morning. Then DS1 served us our lunch from his cafe. They’ve planned an activity for DS2, later they can help plan tea and help me make it. They played hide and seek earlier and had such a funny hiding place, pic attached. We’re off for a walk to DM’s now, just to chat in the garden, but the DC love seeing her. Then we’ll pop to the park to tire them out!.

mrs I’m misty eyed at everything too, it got even worse after the DC😂. It really is great news, hopefully he can have a lovely Christmas!❤️. A very spendy day for you😂

em keep staying safe! That reporting is awful!. I hope you can spend Christmas with your DM and that she has a good one!. Sorry about the wisdom tooth pain!.

snuggly I really need to get wrapping, went to do some last night but didn’t have any sellotape! That’s reminded me to get some!

I’m not a fan of national lampoons either sing, I don’t seem to get it.

We love Arthur Christmas here too life

Your DD sounds lovely unescorted

The Santa Clause is brilliant wolf, we watched the 1st one the other day on Disney plus, I might see if we can watch the 2nd one tonight. Wel done on all the cleaning!

NSD so far, but will have to go to the local shop and see if they have any sellotape, might grap the DC a magazine or something to keep them occupied. Will be back later with my spends!.

SingToTheSky · 22/12/2020 15:06

£12.27 on a game. It’s Christmassy but rare in the U.K. so wasn’t expecting it to arrive by Christmas anyway. Might cheer me up after Christmas is over😳

Don’t feel very festive atm as trying and failing to focus on my assignment. Did paint some gift tags with the DCs earlier though.

Getting absolutely pissed off with lack of running hot water. Heating came on for a bit yesterday and is now not working again. They are coming to fix the boiler tomorrow at last, four hour job apparently. 😑

SingToTheSky · 22/12/2020 15:07

Arthur Christmas is one of our “must watch every December without fail” films! ❤️🎄

ememem84 · 22/12/2020 16:43

SnugglySnerd · 22/12/2020 18:24

More presents wrapped today - for friends/family members. Will do doorstep drops tomorrow. More wrapping tonight for our dcs. I already feel like I have overdone the Baileys, chocolates and xmas films.

Is anyone else desperate for some alone time because of all the time at home this year? I have mostly appreciated the extra family time this year while the dcs are still small, but with teaching most of the week, dcs the rest of the week and dh here all the time I am starting to want my space. Dh works from home so on the days I'm at work and the dts are at nursery he has a quiet house. I feel like I am just asked a stream of constant questions and requests all day every day. I might have just had a bit of a strop at being flowed around the house and I have shut myself in the bedroom for 5 mins!

ememem84 · 22/12/2020 21:39

Ate food far too quickly. Regret. I have a few. But also it was delish.

Taytocrisps · 22/12/2020 22:52

Tucking into a mince pie before bed.

I've to hit the supermarket tomorrow for the big Christmas shop. Also need to pick up cat litter and turf. I've made my list (and checked it twice Xmas Smile). Lots of nice things to eat.

I've wrapped and delivered most of my presents - I just need to wrap DD's presents. I'll do that tomorrow when she's with her Dad. Hoping I've enough bits to fill her stocking. I cba to look for anything else for it at this stage.

I've a recycling mountain in my utility room. Unfortunately, my recycling bin isn't due to be collected until Christmas Day (so that won't happen obviously) and it's already fairly full. I might store some stuff in the shed as a temporary measure.

Our Covid cases have been increasing rapidly (970 today) so we're going back to Level 5 restrictions (highest level of restrictions). It's going to be a very quiet Christmas and New Year. We weren't planning any crazy parties or anything, but we've scaled back our plans even further. I picked up a few books over the weekend and I've more coming from Santa (hopefully) so I plan to do lots of reading and eat lots of cheese and maybe the odd glass of wine or a Baileys coffee. Our night away in early January won't happen now.

Better head to bed because I want to be up early to nab the postman. I've a parcel for him (chocolates and a gift voucher).

Hope to catch up on your news at some stage tomorrow.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 22/12/2020 23:01

Quick late sign on, I've been really busy with work but have now stopped for a few days which is amazing!!

I'm going against the grain to say out of all the Christmas films I really don't like Arthur Christmas 😬 I find him and all his family very annoying!! I do love a Muppets Christmas Carol and Elf though! My absolute favourite it Its a Wonderful Life and I have to watch that every year.

Only spent £5 today on a few bits.
