MusicMagpie

I have boxes of DVDs (and CDs) that I doubt we will ever use .

Is Music Magpie legit? Any drawbacks - other than painstakingly typing in each barcode?

In the past I have used local facebook selling sites to get rid of items but am fed up of the timewasters and hagglers..

thanks

I tried it to sell lots of old classical CDs, and they didn't have a record (no pun intended) of a single one of mine. If they don't have it listed, they won't take it. I gave up in the end.

Ah - that's no good to you is it.

I have inputted a couple of barcodes for fun to see what the offer price is.. one was 16p - the other - a box set was 90p.

I don't mind selling them this way as it is convenient - just want to know if I;m likely to end up having to have things returned to me at my own cost or any other slipperiness on their part.

I used it a few years ago for several hundred CDs. It worked really well for me. Printed off the packaging label and the courier collected the boxes from the porch. There’s a weight limit to each box so I think I had 3 collections. I think I did some hardbacked books as well, like cookery books.

If you download the app you can scan the barcodes so no need to type them in.

I made about £85. It was labour intensive but I just did a little at a time.

I did have a couple of items rejected but not many. So say I was expecting to receive £35 according to the app, I’d get £33.25.

I might get them all out later and list them.

I have two storage boxes of DVDs - no DVD player currently plugged in anywhere so we clearly don't use them.

Same for CDs but most belong to DH and he's a hoarder Grin

I downloaded the app and scanned 4 boxes of DVDs. They would only accept 1/2 a box and we would have got under a tenner. OH is refusing to part with the DVDs now.

You can download an app and this will scan the bar code, and tell you what you would get for it. much faster than the original site where you did have to type in barcodes! I've used them several times over the years to incentivise clearouts (and keen to do it again). They've always worked for me - just check the dvds/cds/games are actually in the box.
