Oh fab! The one I have is mostly black with pinky bits. It ended up costing more than the lockets as I got those on sale 😱 but worth it I think.

Taytocrisps · 25/07/2020 15:30

Met a friend for lunch and was greeted by a very foul stench when I got home. Poor DCat1 had either been sick or had diarrhea but there was a pool of brown liquid on the floor (sorry TMI). They warned me the antibiotic might cause that, so I guess I'll have to stop giving it to him until he has his check up on Monday. The surgery only opens for a half-day on Saturday so I can't ring them until they open again on Monday morning.

My washing machine has been playing up since our trip to the beach the other day. I don't think it was too happy with the sandy towels and clothes we brought home. It keeps stopping mid-cycle and flashing a warning light about cleaning the filter. If it happens again, I'll have to bite the bullet and phone a washing machine repair guy. Fingers crossed......

Wolf sorry work have been messing you around regarding your pay. We had an issue years ago when Ex had to travel around Ireland for his job. He was expected to book into a hotel, pay the hotel bill and claim the money back. He was paid monthly and if the trip was scheduled for the end of the month when funds were low, there was no guarantee we'd be in a position to pay out that money and wait for it to be refunded. It wasn't so much of an issue if the trip was at the start of the month. Eventually he had to sit down with his boss and explain that this was causing financial hardship for us and ask if there was another way of paying for the hotel. His boss was female so it wasn't a case of male privilege - just something that hadn't occurred to her because she earned a very high salary herself and would always have reserves for something like this. She was very nice about it and I think shortly after that conversation they introduced a company credit card to cover that sort of expenditure. But Ex was very embarrassed having to raise it with her.

Taytocrisps · 25/07/2020 15:45

Oh crap, the washing machine warning light has just come on again Sad. I forgot to say that I know how to remove and clean the filter and I've done that already, so the problem must be something else. Looks like I'll have to take a second day off work next week. I'm already taking Monday off to bring DCat1 to the vet.

Unescorted · 25/07/2020 16:51

Tayto that is not good news for either.

I have had to have the expenses discussion with a previous employer. My current one has centralised train and hotel booking which is useful when we are travelling about.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 25/07/2020 17:44

Hi everyone.
Hope you are all doing ok.

Mummy, that is a lovely colour in your bathroom. I need to redecorate my whole flat. I've been single for over a year and still have some of exes furniture to go and can then start. But your pictures have given me some ideas and I can definitely get the bathroom done soon. Thank you.

Duchess, lovely to see you again and so glad you got to spend time with your mum, sounds like you had a lovely day.

North, wow, I didn't know that you had a brain haemorrhage, so glad you have no ill effects from it and glad you celebrated.

Lonely, I love those pouches and I'm with Sea, a gusseted a5 one would be good or one that could hold a diary and an a5 notebook with pen inserts?
And your masks sound brilliant!

Unescorted, that type of laptop bag would be fantastic.
Glad to hear your mum is ok, but the sexism!

Sea, how did the haircut go?

Snuggly, hope you have fun trying on the new clothes.

Tayto, aww poor cat, hope he recovers soon. Good luck with your washing machine, hope it is an easy fix.

Yesterday was spendy.
£4, Tesco, on a travel plug and some pens.
£32.99, Tk maxx, on a handbag for holiday and new sunglasses.
£6, Superdrug on eye base makeup.
£7.59 Boots on a couple of eye makeup brushes and a drink.
£11.50 Primark, but have to return something, so will get £4 back.
£33.39, Asda, but will get £5 back for a bra as it doesn't fit.
£5 Costa, on a coffee and a cookie.

Today is a NSD though.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 25/07/2020 17:57

Oh and £19.50 in m and s on a pair of jeans.

ememem84 · 25/07/2020 18:41

£35 riding - jump position canter (standing up) first time I’ve done that....!

£3.45 M&S on sweeties to get change for riding.

Dh bought petrol and popadums for curry dinner. Probably around £40.

Struggling the last few days. My arms and neck are so so sore. Poas not the best idea to ride but I needed to get out.

Accupuncture booked for 10 Aug and osteo for 12th. Dh has loaned me his posture corrector things and tens machine.

I picked up my hired number 1 cake pan on Thursday. Dd will be 1 on Wednesday and I’m making a “1” cake but turning it into a giraffe.

Em you will need the 2 tin if it is still doing the rounds.

Curvy I am going for the if I have to wear a mask I am not wearing a bra

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/07/2020 19:11

You could wear 2 face masks unescorted strategically placed. Do face masks have to be worn on the face........ ? Grin

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 25/07/2020 19:16

Haha, Unescorted and life!

I binged watched Mrs America after some of you recommend it, it was really good, my jaw definitely hit the floor a few times!

Wolfcub · 25/07/2020 19:17

Tayto poor dcat hope he recovers soon

ememem84 · 25/07/2020 19:18

life 😂😂

I’m not wearing a mask unless I have no other option. It’s not mandatory here yet only on the bus and I rarely get the bus.

But supermarket I can avoid (dh does that) shops I can avoid (can buy online if I need to).

OP posts:
Bornlazy · 25/07/2020 21:24

Its amazing how quickly you get used to the masks. I had one on for 11 hours today and it was bearable. The weird thing is it feels like you've still got it on when you take it off - like a phantom mask. I still cant wait to not need to wear them right enough.

I can't understand why some of our dms are so sexist. You would think you'd want your dd to embrace opportunities that were not available to them but its almost like they think we're getting above our station in life.

Tayto hope your cat is better soon.

ememem84 · 25/07/2020 21:42

I blame my grandma for mine. This is what my therapist has established.

Dm is jealous because I’m relatively “free” and have things she didn’t. And dgrandma is the same.

I want Dd to grow up knowing she can do whatever if she works hard enough. But also that as a woman she will need to work hard. But she is good enough. And strong etc.

OP posts:
ChristmasSeacow · 25/07/2020 21:51

I’m watching Mrs America right now! Finding the sound a bit muffled though - my hearing isn’t too sharp and I keep having to ask DH to repeat things Hmm.

Having to pay big work expenses and reclaim, or any slow pay, is just disrespectful and presumptuous.

I’ve just looked on the LLL website - rather tempted as I need some exercise gear for Pilates and I only own one pair of leggings. But I can’t see the offer on - does it require a code? (Also agree about long tops - why are they not easier to find?!)

I’ve been manic today - batch cooking pasta sauces for the DC, cutting DS’s hair (Stressful! But can’t find a home hairdresser who can come in the next couple of weeks), 4 loads of laundry and making masks. I’m aiming to make 20 this weekend. Plus a couple of batches of strawberry jam tomorrow. And some cookies. I was going to make the Anzac biscuits but DH found some ripe brambles poking over our fence so I’m making some cookies with those, and toffee chunks too 😋.

Right, tv episode has finished so back to the masks... my kitchen is a production line today!

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 25/07/2020 21:52

See my ex is quite sexist but kind of in a traditional way, or at least that's what he thinks.

Anyway one day when dd2 was about 6, they went round to the shop and she saw a nice car, think it was a Porsche and she said to her dad, "I want a car like that when I'm older".
He replied, "Well if you marry a rich man, maybe he will buy you one"
Dd2 said, "No I will just make my own money and buy one and who said I want to get married anyway!"
A proud mummy moment!

Dd2 is now 10 and still brings it up at times.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 25/07/2020 22:02

@CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces, thank you! It was grand to see her again and she’s coming for a proper visit soon.

@Taytocrisps, I do hope puss is feeling better.

I have work tomorow in the morning and then planning a Costco run.

Curvy I love that attitude in my DD too. It gives me hope. Born In my mum's case it is because she thinks she is special because she thinks she navigated the patriarchy on her own. Feminism was about tearing those systems down and she saw it as a personal attack on her professional status. Me & most others having a job post children and in a male dominated sector is seen as a direct challenge to her as it dilutes her version of her truth. Every success I have she has to give an example of when she feels she did better. It is very wearing so I no longer tell her what I do.

I sound really whiney sorry.

SnugglySnerd · 26/07/2020 06:20

Your dd sounds brilliant Curvy! I hope my girls will be like that.
Dds are both up very early today but we have found last year's Strictly on iplayer so we are watching that.

ememem84 · 26/07/2020 07:22

curvy amazing Dd!!!

Up early here but because babies weren’t awake we had tea in bed. Such a luxury at 530am

Elderly neighbours tv has been blasting through my house for hours you can literally hear every word in every room. I am literally doomed to never get more than four or five hours sleep

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 26/07/2020 09:41

Morning all.

Unescorted, I don't think you are whiney, it must be demoralising to keep explaining.
Glad your dd has that attitude too, it certainly gives me hope too.

Thanks guys, she has a very good role model in her big sister and me I guess! Her two big brothers are pretty good too and call out sexism to their mates, which at times have been a bit tough, I'm proud of them too!
We have lots of discussions around feminism, sex, gender, politics etc.

lifelongfrugaleer · 26/07/2020 18:55

God I hate the men first, they know everything. My DM is great and raised me single handed but still defers to her dh. Unfortunately she raised an opinionated, independent daughter who hold no truck with that sort of stuff Grin

£15 NT on treats. Lovely day. Sorry to any one at the site when we took over twice with a rounders game

ememem84 · 26/07/2020 22:23

Spendy today £153 in coop (no booze this time though but £38 on a digital thermometer) and £43 Iceland.

I bought loads of fruit and veg (frozen and fresh) loads of tins and flour etc for dds birthday cake.

Should last us a couple of weeks though.

Emptied laundry basket and have basically managed to get everything done today.

Tidied out the “food” cupboard in the kitchen hoovered the shelves cleaned them and sort of ordered the food. Also folded all of dh’S Tshirts and shorts. And organised the freezer.
