My granny lent me nowt for my wedding.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 19/07/2020 19:32

Thank you everyone.

Been busy sorting out stuff, it feels good! Got rid of some of exes stuff. Have a massive bag and a box to give to charity.

Why are kids so untidy? I don't really let mine have food and drink upstairs, but because it has been warm they have been taking water upstairs, when they had ran out of bottles, they then started taking glasses up! I don't have many glasses, but 12 glasses between them and they both have 2 water bottles each, so add those and my chilly bottle, little gits!
I was then very unpopular as I made them wash, dry and put them away. Some how it never occurred to them to just wash out their own bottles!

NSD today.

I think it is sea who wears the tiara.

I didn’t have a tiara. I had my granny’s pearls and they were woven in my hair (other granny who passed way before I got married).

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/07/2020 20:03

She wears it While bathing dd if I recall.
I had a tiara. Nothing like princess Bs though Grin

Wolfcub · 19/07/2020 20:11

Unescorted I also had to
Look it up that's an impressive trip.

I thought the wedding looked lovely. I sort of wonder whether she breathed a sigh of relief and enjoyed the lack of fuss

Very exciting Love things are moving along nicely for you

Curvy nice to hVe you back here as well as the other thread

Unescorted are you all prepped and ready for Wednesday? Is it in person or by Skype?

Advice needed! I've listed a pair of shoes on eBay and within the first hour have had an offer of £10 which lasts for 24 hours. My instinct is to wait & see how many watchers I get before accepting the offer. What do you think?

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 19/07/2020 21:29

Thanks Wolf Smile

North, how much would you like for them? If the person really wants them, they will bid.
I would wait and if no interest from others than accept the tenner.

northender · 19/07/2020 21:40

Thanks Curvy that was my thought so I'll wait & see. I was hoping for £15, but we'll see. It's encouraging anyway.

ememem84 · 19/07/2020 21:48

Wait and see north then submit a counter offer for 15. I think you get three tries.

OP posts:
CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 19/07/2020 21:52

North, it is encouraging, what kind of shoes (nosey!)

Unescorted, sounds like your boys will have their work cut out for them, all of that uphill!
I've never been, and couldn't do it anyway! One of my old colleagues parents live in Inverness and he said that when he was younger, him, his dad and sister would do that trek, it took them about 12 hours!
It is very beautiful but not sure I could live there! Only one family lives there!

Unescorted · 19/07/2020 22:13

wolf it is a Teams meeting. I am not sure I am prepped yet - but I am getting there.

The boys are used to riding long distances. It just seems weird that they are pootling out the gate as if on a day ride and going on quite an adventure. I am looking forward to having my summer, but at the same time I will miss them.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 19/07/2020 22:34

Aww Unescorted, of course you will.
Do they stay at hotels or do wild camping?
But I guess they can only carry so much.
What an adventure!

ChristmasSeacow · 19/07/2020 22:34

Hello! It is me that wears my wedding tiara, to bath the Dc. Not every night but usually on our anniversary. Well remembered! Sadly it’s not real diamonds Wink. I actually wore it last week when I had to make a video birthday greeting for a friend who now lives in the US (her husband was making an effort to organise stuff as it was a milestone one, so he made a video montage. I thought I’d dress up my t-shirt Grin). First time in ages as I forgot this year on our anniversary.

Sorry about your cousin Curvy, you do have a
lot going on.

Unescorted I also had to look up Cape Wrath. That’s quite a trip... but at least when they get there there’s a cafe Grin

Lonely fingers crossed for Monday. I also
remember when you got that job, it was such a help. Is DP still unable to work? I seem to remember he has awful issues (was it his back?)

The seaside yesterday was a bit of a strain. First the traffic was awful and we crawled along the A12 (WORST ROAD IN THE UK), the kids were good but not enjoyable. Then the beach /weather were good but there were a lot of dogs around and DS is absolutely terrified of dogs. So in spite of being really very excited when we arrived he was asking to go home after an hour Sad. We stayed for a few hours but he was on alert and very anxious the whole time. Hey ho. We’ve been there before a few times and I don’t remember seeing dogs but I might not have noticed if it was before DS’s phobia took hold. We’ll need to find a dog-free beach next time.

Other than that I’ve been cooking a lot. I’ve made 3 batches of jam and PB cookies and a huge triple batch of meatballs and pepper sauce. And I’ve sorted the home insurance. Renewal quote was £785, got it it for £403. Quite happy with that!

My shopping has been very expensive - I’ve done some batch cooking and topped up the baking stuff with naice ingredients like nuts, dried raspberries etc, so it’s been a big one this week, over £200 Blush.

3 weeks till our holiday, yay!

ChristmasSeacow · 19/07/2020 22:38

That should say ‘the kids were good but not enjoying it’ (autocorrect)

xmummy2princesx · 19/07/2020 23:35

SnugglySnerd · 20/07/2020 06:18

Good to see you Curvy but sorry to hear your news.
Fingers crossed for you today Lonely.
My granny's engagement ring was my "something old" at my.wedding. my aunt gave it to me after she died and I always wear it now. My grandparents were married for about 65 years so I hope it brings us luck!

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/07/2020 07:35

Get prepping unescorted.
Microsoft teams is ok to use.

Good news on the sofa.

I also had to google cape wrath. It's all uphill to Scotland ... Grin
Tickles me every time that line from the railway children.

Sorry the beach wasn't great. Don't they have a no dog bit? Shame if they don't.

Bornlazy · 20/07/2020 08:50

Curvy sorry you've been having such a tough time Flowers

Sea ds1 was terrified of dogs when he was younger. Everywhere we went I had to be in the lookout for rogue ones that were off the lead. It could spoil the nicest of places.

Mummy good news on selling the sofa

Keeping everything crossed for you today Lonely

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 20/07/2020 08:52

Thank you all. I really appreciate the kind words.

Sea, I'm sorry your beach visit wasn't great.
mummy, that was a good result on the sofa.

Today me and dd2 will be going out to get some bits for our holiday and some food shopping.
Best get ready!

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/07/2020 09:01

Hope it's good news for you today lonely

Taytocrisps · 20/07/2020 09:08

Morning everyone. It's a beautiful, sunny day here. Must put some washing on shortly. I've ordered a large picnic basket and a smaller cooler bag/ice packs from Mountain Warehouse, so I can't wait for them to arrive. I saved €50 in the sale.

I was admiring cushions in a homewares shop on Saturday but they were €50 each (albeit there was 20% off). When did cushions gets so expensive? Obviously I walked away.

Busy week ahead.

I'm back to the counsellor tomorrow. I haven't seen her since January so I've lots to talk about. It must be a difficult job, listening to people's problems all day. You'd have to be a very resilient person.

On Thursday I've to bring DCat1 for a dental extraction.

On Friday I'm calling to a friend's house. It's been over a year since I saw her, so I'm really looking forward to it. I'm taking DD too because DD is good friends with her eldest DD. They used to live locally but they moved away.

On Saturday I'm meeting a friend for lunch.

I haven't been this busy in months!

I'll come back later to catch up on your news.

Wolfcub · 20/07/2020 10:03

Fingers crossed for you Lonely

Mrsmadevans · 20/07/2020 10:26

Morning everyone 😀

TkMaxx is Beckoning 😃
Will hopefully have pics ltr have a lovely day everyone 😀

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 20/07/2020 11:31

So we won't be going out today. Dd is feeling a bit poorly and tired, she didn't sleep very well and I don't really want to take a grumpy child out.
Will pop to the little sainsbury's round the corner to get a few bits for today and go to town tomorrow.
