I assume a seamstress can take a dress out too? Worried I should have gone a size bigger. Also, seen another one I like a size bigger on eBay... this could become a rather expensive habit!

Oooh your dress looked lovely life

Wolfcub · 05/07/2020 08:55

If they haven't already been altered two much Love there should be generous seams on either side to take it in or out. Just be careful though if there's beading or embroidery running across the side seam. I had to have mine taken in quite a bit round the top a few weeks before the wedding so by all means consult a seamstress now for what is possible but I wouldn't get it altered until nearer the time

SnugglySnerd · 05/07/2020 09:07

Windy here today too! Just got 2 loads of washing out and might do a third.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 05/07/2020 09:42

Yeah windy here but dry for now.

My washing machine made a God awful noise Ystd and when I pulled the washing out I found some underwire from a bra that lost its wire about a year ago!! Hopefully it's not buggered up the inside too much 😬

Going to a friends house later this morning to see their new rescue dog, he's a giant poodle and looks amazing!

Leaving dd at my mums this afternoon so I can do some assignment work 😕 will be so glad when it's done.

Gintime74 · 05/07/2020 11:13

Loving the wedding dresses!
I’ve been up early and meal prepped for the week. 4 meals mon - thurs, Friday will be takeaway. I’ve also ordered a veg box from Riverford to be delivered next weekend as I want to include more veggie meals in our diet and I was better at this when we used to get a veg box. Not really cost effective but convenient.
Weather lousy here which has scuppered my plan for a long walk and picnic.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/07/2020 11:44

Love I forget where you are in the world but there is a fabulous wedding warehouse in Northallerton North Yorkshire. Maybe something similar near you?

Yes a good seamstress should be able to alter both ways. Or offer options.

Thanks I might get it from the attic and see if it so fits. Should really sell it.

Windy and sunny so 2 loads of washing out and another in the machine.

£70 between b&m and fuel. Should get some more of the garden finished thought

Wolfcub · 05/07/2020 12:26

One load of washing out one in the machine. It's a three peg per item and a lot of Hope day!

I've also taken all the clothes out of the holiday drawer and put them in general circulation Sad

xmummy2princesx · 05/07/2020 13:47

Thats a beautiful dress love

Lovemaltesers · 05/07/2020 17:32

Not so frugal today, ordered a couple of strapless bras to try as I don’t own one and some shoes.

I’m south coast life

Not done much today. Feel a bit sick, I only had one drink last night at home but head really hurts!

I will update on the dress once it comes but not due to arrive until Saturday.

LonelyOversharer · 05/07/2020 18:25

Still not done the shopping sums, but it came out about normal I think. Did spend £30 in the Range... Not all of it was necessary.

Dp is poorly again. Blinding headache (possibly migraine but he's on a lot of pain meds so hard to tell) then he's not himself for a day, then sleeps for a day. Back to the Gp tomorrow I think.

Took the girls to hobbycraft this morning, I had a £30 voucher they sent me, so only spent £6 or so. I made dd1 pay for her own, but she does get £10/week and has more cash in her account than me!

£13 getting 4 of us a Costa. First in over 3 months.

I have bought more fabric, but I used PayPal, so not from current account.

Loving the wedding dress pics! Not married so I am no help here!

It was blowing a gale in the night, at 3am I caught the kitten two seconds before he went out of the bedroom window, it had blown open (latch broken) and his front paws were up and he was scrabbling to get a back foot up 😮. I fixed the latch by shoving a ball of yarn behind it. 3am quick fix.

Just realised it's half past six and haven't even thought about tea yet!

xmummy2princesx · 05/07/2020 22:27

sea I’d spend any money when it comes to baubles or any christmas decs. Love it😂.

I shop in ASDA but there’s an ALDI right next door and I might switch 2 that since prices have gone up. I haven’t actually gone shopping for months now cuz of the shielding but will be nice to properly look around a shop again.

I do have a notebook I use 2 budget but I think I need 2 cut down on a few things tbh to save sum money.

I’m sorry about the mean woman north

mrs I had 2 give up on the app a while ago. It’s been slow 4 me B4 2 so maybe not just ur WiFi!.

I spent £20 on maccies 2day 4 dinner. Couldn’t b bothered 2 cook. Need 2 stop getting takeaway tho and get sum self control!. I’m starting to wean my youngest tmo 2 so hoping that goes well!

ememem84 · 05/07/2020 22:38

I love a Christmas Dec!!! Cannot wait for this year. I got a wreath in the sale in jan. To go on our new front door.

I like spending (apprently). Since lockdown started I’ve bought - toys for the kids (some new some second hand from eBay), things for the house and things for me. Mostly amazon and eBay.

I’m only going to try and buy undies and shoes new now. And shop sales where I can. I don’t need anything though. So should be ok.

£30 to riding instructor today as owed for last week. £3.12 on biscuits.

No other spends.

I love xmas decs! I often buy a little bauble from the gift shop when we go somewhere - museums seem to have exhibit-related ones year round, my fave is a little velvety ankh from the British Museum. It’s nice to remember the places we’ve been as we decorate. Don’t suppose we’ll have any to add this year!

I’ve been thinking about how to make our house more homely. I’ve realised lately that it just... isn’t! We’ve not really made it our own since moving in (2 years ago). We’ve talked about things like gradually swapping furniture, decorating, houseplants etc. It’ll be a long term thing though.

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/07/2020 06:59

I love Christmas. End of.
Nsd planned today. Was going to buy some veg but have given my head a shake and will redraft the plan with what I have in.

northender · 06/07/2020 07:09

Lane can't believe you've been in there 2 years! That has flown by.
Got some sewing done yesterday, now have the finishing line in sight with my star quilt, hoping to finish it this week.
The cricket club bar opened this weekend, members only & I went yesterday as dh was volunteering. I felt really nervous but it was great, really well organised. Didn't go within 2 metres of anyone but it was lovely to catch up with people who we've not seen for months.Ds is pleased as cricket is planned for next weekend. Dd is finding it hard at the moment so we're trying to plan as much structure as we can for her. She's got school today, then tomorrow is going to bake for my aunty who is taking cake to elderly church members. She's going to deliver some too if they are local to us.
Work for me today. I'm only in for 3 days then a long weekend, but it's going to be very busy for the three days. Have a good day everyone.

Mrsmadevans · 06/07/2020 07:17

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/07/2020 09:05

I do reasties threads without fail for the last few years and got some fab presents and bargains

SnugglySnerd · 06/07/2020 11:18

I do that too, Lane, putting up the tree is a wonderul reminder of various holidays and days out. I also love Christmas and I've already bought a few stocking fillers. I've got some good ideas of what to get the dcs but will wait until nearer xmas in case their interests change.

ememem84 · 06/07/2020 11:32

We were in sorrento a few years ago and I got a bit drunk (too much prosecco and limoncello...!) and afternoon dinner was wandering around the town and stumbled upon a shop selling Christmas decorations. In May. That was our first night there. The rest of the time we couldn’t find it again. Dh was adamant I’d hallucinated it. 😂

On the final night we found it again. And I have some beautiful wooden and glass tree ornaments. I had to have them couriered home as they wouldn’t fit in my suitcase but absolutely worth it!!!!

In office today - brought my lunch and snacks.

Spends at lunchtime will be cat biscuits and maybe some milk for Dd from boots. Might just get that tomorrow though as no rush.

em I luv decorating 4 Xmas 2. I’m going 2 basically get us all new decorations and get the boys a new bauble each. And it’s DS2’s first Xmas.

That sounds luvly nortth and rly well handled. The pub near me went crazy when it opened we had police helicopters out and everything. Sum ppl just ruin it!

mrs hopefully the site works better for u!! They rly need 2 work on the app it don’t work for a lot of ppl!. Weanings going well he had broccoli! He luvs it but he’s a big boy I think he enjoys having real food 2 fill him. Christmas countdown sounds rly fun I might have to sneak over there closer 2 the big day! Super excited this year cuz it’s Sullivan’s first Xmas.

life I luv them threads u can get sum great bargains! I just lurk though!

NSD 2day. I’m finally reunited wiv my mum and step dad! We’re in our bubble. Plans r 2 go 2 a park 2day cuz I can’t drive and we haven’t rly been out far in ages. I’m super excited!. Also DS2 started weaning and loves it!

SnugglySnerd · 06/07/2020 16:04

We've been to the park. On the swings! Hooray!

ChristmasSeacow · 06/07/2020 16:22

Hello all! I absolutely love Christmas too... though my username is due to DS’s favourite Sarah and Duck episode, not specifically festive! I also lurk on the Christmas boards, might ‘join’ soon when I get my Christmas crafting properly underway Grin.

Decided against the baubles as I didn’t love them. My tree is quite crowded now and we haven’t got room for a bigger one so any new decoration has to be worthy of ‘bumping’ one of the lower-ranking ones Wink. We also often buy them on holiday, it’s lovely to have the memories. And there’s some we’ve made too.

Instead I bought myself some earrings. They were definitely an unnecessary spend but not too expensive and I’ve admired them for a while. As I’m doing the Cleaner’s job without any help from DH, i thought it was fair enough Wink.

But no more frivolous spending now. DH and I had a serious talk about the work we want to do to the house, and the first draft architect’s plans. They were a bit disappointing on all fronts really. In the loft we can fit a double room but not a en-suite, due to planning constraints (the existing rear extension has used some of the permitted volume so dormers and head height will be the limiting factor). So that means we probably wouldn’t use it as our bedroom as we currently have an en suite. I don’t think DM will want to go up another flight of steeper stairs to a guest room so that would mean putting one of the Dc up there. I can’t help feeling that will be odd, as they are both quite young still and it’s better having DS near us in the night. Has anyone put a smallish child in a loft bedroom? DD is in a teeny box room right now - I’m not sure what we’ll do when she outgrows her cot bed!

Downstairs is a bit rubbish too - due to supporting walls etc I can’t create a layout that flows well or a kitchen that is as big as I’d hoped, and yet I’ll have odd leftover spaces. It’s not a disaster but a bit disheartening when we’ve waited 11 years to do it and it’s going to be expensive and massively disruptive. I want to feel really excited about it! Anyway, I sent all the comments to the architect last night and we’ll see what he says.

We can afford to do the kitchen or the loft (plus a bit left over) but not both - we’d have to extend the mortgage to pay for half the loft. We’re weighing up whether it’s worth it, but think it probably is. It would give us a good sized bedroom for each child and a guest room for my mum, as she stays at least 2 nights pw. So much for paying the mortgage off early!

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/07/2020 16:51

Is it with the multiple extension sea or could you consider upsize to a new house instead?
