I thought I really need to start a no spend week (or possibly no spend month). This is because I have already spent on 1. Earrings I didn't need 2. A Body Shop order - which I definitely didn't need 3. An order of plants off the internet....you're getting the picture now.

Anyone want to join me?

Obviously food and petrol aren't included in the no spend - but 'frivilous' items are. Also in that I will include 99p Kindle books.

I get you! It's a good idea and I will join you this week. However I have two birthdays so have no choice but to get presents. I seem to be spending a stupid amount on food at the moment so going to try and use what i have in but will need basics. No kindle books and no luxury spending this week.
Really need to save some money. Payday next week and only thing I am splurging on is a second hand freezer for the garage so I can buy in bulk! We have such a small shitty one so can never buy on reduced etc

Welcome aboard!

I think I will try for at least 3 weeks....

I need to join this thread too!

For the rest of June & July I’ll not spend money on anything apart from food (meal plans & budget) & an airer.

I’ve become so bored during lockdown that I found myself spending for entertainment. No debt thankfully.

The best thing I’ve done recently is become very good at returning items if they don’t work, wrongly described or don’t fit.

Smile no spend days until August (Summer holidays!). Wish me luck!

Gosh I so need to join this. Lockdown hasn't been too bad as I have saved in other areas- school dinners, coffees and petrol plus I have increased my hours at work and am now working weekends so get an enhancement. However, my cat broke her tail and shes not insured so that's a fee of £300 so far. I've paid for quite a lot of films on prime to keep the kids entertained and books. I love books. And garden stuff, new garden furniture, plants, pretty lights.....
I have it all. I dont need any more.

Dontletthebastardscheeryouup · 07/06/2020 21:00

I literally almost bought glasses online that I definitely don’t need just thought they’d look nice. £33 saved Grin

(My current glasses are very delicate and I’m sure they’ll break soon - the cat seems to like scatting them off surfaces....)

Joining. Not earning at minute as self employed and not entitled to anything. Cant wait to learn how to be penny wise 😬

daytripper28 · 08/06/2020 13:24

@Dontletthebastardscheeryouup Good luck!

Your aim for 2 months no spend sounds like a good plan which I will try to copy.

I had already bought this week 10 x hosta plants; a pair of silver hoop earrings from German Amazon; and a bunch of new wool to make a blanket Confused. Need to stop now...

Ivegotnothing · 08/06/2020 13:41

I also need to join. I’ve spent my available spends already and don’t get paid until the last day of the month. I need to force myself to stop frittering on amazon as its linked to my credit card...I will clear it at the end of the month, but it then sets me behind for the next month!

Dontletthebastardscheeryouup · 09/06/2020 15:54

I had my first no spend day yesterday - first for weeks!! Shock

I am proud of myself. Today’s purchase might involve the planned airer (for rainy days..... our tumble dryer broke :( )

Ivegotnothing · 09/06/2020 18:25

I bought two Father’s Day presents, unavoidable really. Maybe tomorrow I’ll manage a no spend day!

rayn · 10/06/2020 10:31

It's hard isn't it? I have only bought food and birthday presents but prob because I a skint till payday on Monday. We are trying to save for a deposit so putting money away in an account we can't touch.
I now have the grand total of 69p in my bank so at least I can't go splash out as don't have credit cards either.

Ivegotnothing · 10/06/2020 10:42

@rayn it is! I will be down to pence too after direct debits and food, but don’t get paid until the last day of the month...

daytripper28 · 11/06/2020 05:30

No spend day yesterday .... but only because I was at work all day

Focus until the end of the week now Smile

Ivegotnothing · 11/06/2020 10:46

Well done day tripper. I noticed Pinterest have some lovely ideas for no spend trackers...a bit of colouring might motivate me Grin
