What's your usual job? Have you got any skills you can transfer to self employment?

sleepismysuperpower1 · 03/06/2020 15:39

You could teach english to foreign students online? You would need to complete a TEFL course (link included), and then sign up with a company- each will have different requirements, but it will allow you to work from home. It's more of a long term thing though, so if you are just on maternity leave it won't be the best option.

you could also take a part time job like this (link included), to become a call centre advisor. They give training on the job, however it is only a 12 week contract so might be worth looking at other companies too if this would be something you were interested in (some companies however will require some prior experience so you could take the 12 week contract then look elsewhere).

all the best

Online surveys. Won't make much but even a few pounds a week will help i guess

ThunderCrack · 16/06/2020 22:11

Are you getting all the benefits you are entitled to?
Sure start vouchers?
Food bank?

PiggyPokkyFool · 16/06/2020 22:32

I see jgjgjgjgjg recommends online surveys - I do too as I have done them for years and here are my recommendations.
I joined Swagbucks almost a year ago and have made £1395 so far. I'm a bit evangelical about them to be honest as there is tons to do on there. As well as survey income, you get loads of tops up at the end of the month for all the days you hit your daily goal and then they give you extra points when you hit points levels called Swag Ups.Now is a great time to join as when you earn 300 points in the first 30 days, they give you a 300 bonus.

Second favourite: You Gov as you never screen out :

A decent time to join them as lots of easy Covid surveys about. I get £50 every 6-8 weeks. I use a few more panels too but try those and let us know how you get on as they are the best.
I have to say this is not money for zero effort but I find it very easy - I do them in front of the TV and used to do them on buses on the way to/from work but not now I'm #hermit obviously!
Good luck Smile

If you wanted to try matched betting (easy money) profit accumulator have a 14 day trial for £1 here - it takes you step by step through each offer and is risk free.

PiggyPokkyFool · 19/06/2020 22:36

How are you getting on @LJJ90?
Hope the surveys have yielded you your first lot of money if you joined 3 days ago.

EmmaC78 · 27/06/2020 19:26

Any tips for how to make that much? I have been on YouGov for years and normally only make £50 every 6 months or so. I do take all the available survey and, as you mentioned, hardly ever get screened out.

PiggyPokkyFool · 27/06/2020 22:05

Hi @EmmaC78 - Have you got pulse installed? You can have it on all your devices and that generates 300 points p.m. for zero work.
Also at the end of nearly every survey you get a chance to do a 1 min one for additional points - I always do those.
Additionally you get really well rewarded surveys for your kids - usually 125/150 points for 5/10 minute ones and DD1 and DD2 are straight in there whenever they get the opportunity.

If you are on Swagbucks as well these two links give you 1SB for 45 seconds and 1 SB for 20 secs watches - the first can be used 7 times everyday and the second 3 times every day.

Hope those help you - and indeed anyone else looking to add a bit more cash.

EmmaC78 · 27/06/2020 22:10

Thanks @PiggyPokkyFool, no, I haven't got Pulse installed. Is that something I download from the YouGov website?

I always do the extra short survey at the end.

PiggyPokkyFool · 27/06/2020 22:28

Yes - I have had it for years @EmmaC78 - but I think it is on the Homepage. and as I have it on Mac I can't see it.

EmmaC78 · 27/06/2020 22:31

Thanks @PiggyPokkyFool. It look like it is by invite only but I'll keep an eye out for it in future.

PiggyPokkyFool · 27/06/2020 22:50

Oh ok - I didn't know that - I started with the laptop and built up as i gained confidence in it.
Have a go with Swagbucks too - It is the polar opposite of You Gov - tons of surveys and ways to earn but you do screen out(though they generally give you a point just for trying each survey).
Good luck x

Sell unwanted stuff on FB etc. I sell. My old books.

Flumpinblues · 23/08/2020 17:43

I make £50-100 a month by selling things on eBay and Facebook marketplace. I sell anything really - branded things go especially well. I tend to save the boxes/instruction manuals for most things in the loft. Unwanted gifts like posh candles and toiletries, used but still useable toys especially Lego, bundles of kids clothes, electronics that we have upgraded especially old phones.

LemonadeKing · 24/08/2020 17:52

I'd recommend matched betting - it takes a while to get the hang of but can be profitable (I must get back into it soon!). I also work part time from home in the evenings helping people to switch their utility bills.

Has anyone got some user friendly links to matched betting tutorials as I really fancy giving it a go? TIA

savvy7 · 06/03/2021 21:09

Have a look at save the student. They have an easy guide, also team profit website is free for matched betting. Start with that before paying for a service.

132orbust · 07/03/2021 16:28

Thanks @savvy7 I'll check that out now. Much appreciated,

Jeeperscreeper · 21/03/2021 18:09

If you find a local person who needs their dog walking ,it pays well .

132orbust · 23/03/2021 08:48

Yes there are loads of requests on our local Facebook page for dog walkers.
It is good to have a few strings to your bow in these challenging times!

Jeeperscreeper · 23/03/2021 20:38

Yes and word of mouth works well .
