I'd left toys outside when I heard the rain start last night but decided not to get out of bed - haven't been down to check on them yet. It's our toy farm so mainly plastic animals but also wooden buildings all in a fabric ikea box. I'm sure it will all dry out!

Gifts are tricky at younger ages, especially when they have older siblings toys to play with. At that age we bought eldest dd a beautiful wooden doctors set that still gets used a lot.

ememem84 · 22/05/2020 08:11

Or wooden food meadow I bought ds some Melissa and Doug stuff from amazon. We have a taco making kit, pizza, toaster and toast. He loves making “dinner” for us all. Also a tea set.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 22/05/2020 08:21

Books and puzzles were always popular gifts that you could never have too many of when dd was little (well even now actually!!) Dd has done loads of lovely puzzles over lockdown, will add a couple of pics.

Ended up working late Ystd as needed to get a report ready for my manager to look at this morning, just have to get through today and then I'm off for a week 😊

Morning all. Ds stayed in bed all night yay. I was up at 4 for a while but then went back to bed. Double yay

We had rain too. Wish I hadn't bothered watering the garden before I went to bed. It'll do the grass loads of good through, it's very bald.

No work today unless they ring, which I think they will try not to as they know I'm knackered. Homeschooling at some point and a bimble onto the brewery tap for supplies this afternoon with a 2m gap from my mate during the bimble. Also need to clean and will no doubt read

maddenlightfoot · 22/05/2020 11:09

Girlie I love this artists puzzles! Have just done one of the alphabet series and planning to start 'the red box' one over the weekend x

northender · 22/05/2020 11:39

I liked the Melissa & Doug range when the dc were younger.
Bad frugal news here, the dishwasher which gave up the ghost at the start of lockdown, needs replacing. We got a repair person out yesterday & it isn't worth repairing. Anyway new one ordered £500 will be fitted tomorrow. Dc are very excited & apparently now, loading the dishwasher doesn't seem so much of an ordeal after 8 weeks of washing up!!
Day off here. Washing has been folded & put away. Ds has been given his jobs for the day. Dd is doing school work.
Very windy here, strange weather.

ChristmasSeacow · 22/05/2020 11:45

Glad you had a better night Wolf, enjoy the beer!

A doctor’s set is a good idea. Though I never take her so she might not have any idea what it’s all for! We have loads of wooden food but it does get played with a lot, I might see if there are any ‘gaps in the cupboard’, as it were. I am falling over toy ‘bits’ though, literally. Ds doesn’t understand tidying and likes stuff spread out (it’s one of his stims) and DD copies him, I need to get a grip on them and DH

I don’t know when I last did a jigsaw but I used to love them! No time now though. Maybe when the kids are older.

Just been to our local High St for some top ups and my favourite bakery has reopened! I am very happy indeed.... £40 On top ups though Hmm. Not all bakery, I hasten to add!

I’m trying not to do much work today as I’m not meant to be full time and need to do my share with the DCs. However, I’m off to the Zoom pub at 4.30pm with my team as a veeeeery long awaited. new IT system goes live today and some of us need to celebrate! Must chill some tonic Water in readiness. I have pub snacks. I have gin. Just need a suitable Zoom background

LaneBoy · 22/05/2020 11:52

Hi all. Behind on the thread as usual! Not been spending much other than food, which we are spending more than necessary on I think.

I did FINALLY phone the bank though, and have downgraded my account and reduced a standing order (DD1 has stopped taekwondo). So that saves over £30 a month total. I then set up a standing order for £50 but that’s the help to save account thing and it’s just to stop me forgetting each month.

@MeadowHay have you got room for an easel? Cagletini didn’t take to hers straight away but long term it has been been more than worth the money (£20ish)

£9.30 for tea for DC from chip shop.

northender · 22/05/2020 20:06

So, the dishwasher arrived a day early, much to the DC's delight. I'm quite delighted too to be honest!

Happierwithouthim · 22/05/2020 22:42

€41.10 in mr price went in for a3 card for a project dd is doing for school, bought ds a cactus set, dd a bonsai tree set, au pair trio of herbs etc etc
€20.50 dumping rubbish, last went a month ago

My aim in Dunnes tomorrow is to keep it at €50, going to stick to list.

I would normally only do one trip to town but I was too tired for grocery shopping today

Zoom pub sounds great sea GrinWine

Unescorted* your talk of the dough is making me so excited, I think my starter will be ready by Sunday Smile

I tracked down my engineer so hopefully house purchase will make a little progress next week

Au pair smirked at me this morning, I got out of the house pretty smartish after that Angry
I told her on Sunday dc were only to have pasta for lunch once this week, plenty of alternatives in, they had it mon tues and wed Angry as in plain pasta

Mrsmadevans the elderly don't seem to get it at all!

Sold an item on Facebook €10 from ad posted in jan/feb!

Life I'm sure people must think I'm a phone addict when they see me out walking glued to it, but with no reception at home it's a chance to catch up with outside world, it's much improved today only hurts to touch now.
My cast iron casserole was a Tesco stamps promo but it's similar to the ones that come in Aldi all the time & I love it!!

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/05/2020 07:58

Well as you know I've done similar walking to work on my phone. Bloody lamp posts who put them there Grin. Pleased it's feeling better.

£20 butchers order to collect. Will be taking mil shopping later. Need baking paper.

Wolfcub · 23/05/2020 08:19

Morning all. Need to take ds to his dad's along with three laundry bags of his stuff from the loft.

Will do Pilates later

Need to get some chicken out of the freezer for a curry for tea

Should do some interview prep but not sure I can face it this week

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/05/2020 08:47

Oo is that for the job you submitted ages ago. The one you are doing. Good luck.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 23/05/2020 10:07

christmas have you got a till? IKEA do a lovely wooden one, and they have lots of nice fabric food sets. My dds love the circus style tent from there still at 11 and 7!!

We had a staff meeting on zoom yesterday about starting back nursery, its going to be different and a very full on 6 weeks! But will be nice to get back to some normality. dd2 will find it hard as dd1 is year 6 and going back too.

Spent £35 in tesco Thursday, met my my mum and sister for a socially distant picnic at a local park. We ran around doing races so were all tired and dds slept well!!

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 23/05/2020 10:08

life I also need baking paper and cant find any anywhere! We much prefer it for cooking chips or lining baking trays for freezer dive dinners!!

Wolfcub · 23/05/2020 10:21

Life, yes that's the one. They were waiting for restrictions to lift to interview but are now going to do them by Skype.

Washing about to go out on the line. Need to bake as well.

Happierwithouthim · 23/05/2020 13:21

I went to Aldi instead of Dunnes grand total €89.16. I know I said I wanted to keep to €50 at Dunnes but that would be using €10 off so I'm €29.16 over. They had spray for detangling dds hair so I stocked up on that because haven't seen it in ages, kitchen towel, has been out of stock in Dunnes, flowers for myself, and a few nice things that I hadn't tried before like salt & chilli chicken strips, bbq jackfruit pizza,

In YNAB I'd allowed €140 for groceries this week so I'm well covered.

Happierwithouthim · 23/05/2020 13:21

Wolf is ds gone for long?

Wolfcub · 23/05/2020 13:26

Happier just until 5pm

SnugglySnerd · 23/05/2020 14:47

Hi everyone! Just checking in after a very busy few days. Not very frugal either, spent close to £200 on the weekly shop, I can't even blame dm for it this time as I only got her 2 items! We had to buy suncream though which is expensive in the supermarket. My own fault I couldn't face going to Aldi as well there's is much cheaper.

SnugglySnerd · 23/05/2020 15:18

Trousers arrived Life, thanks so much, they are perfect size Smile

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/05/2020 15:33

No cuts 50p for 5m in Wilko. It's the white one that I prefer.
Nsd as mil paid as I took her to Wilko and b&m.

Welcome snuggly.

Are you doing stuff for you wolf. Ignore routine stuff and self care.
Good luck for interview. Keep us updated.

maddenlightfoot · 23/05/2020 16:02

It seems I can't even spend money these days when I want to 😂. Needed a new bike inner tube and thought we'd pop into M&S food hall as it's next door to Halfords but both had massive queues. Waiting wouldn't be so bad but the wind is so strong today we could barely stand still! Our bikes are being serviced on a couple of weeks so will just need to wait til then. Pizza and quizzing tonight x

Happierwithouthim · 23/05/2020 16:50

Hope you took time out for yourself wolf
