I have nothing but praise and amazement and admiration at sahp’s I couldn’t do it. It’s so hard. I would have done if I had no choice. But luckily I have the option. It would have been me to stay home as I’m the lower earner.

Been riding. Cantered over jumps. Only the second time I’ve done it. 😃

Dh is taking Ds to see Fil in a bit. I was meant to be going but Dd has just gone down for a nap and the rule is to never wake a sleeping baby.

ememem84 · 23/11/2019 15:09

Started season 3 of the crown last night. Got to the Aberfan episode and I was in tears. I had no idea how awful that whole thing was. I knew it had happened. But seemingly knew nothing about it.

I love the crown. Have learned a lot from watching it. I think I find it more interesting because it’s mostly about people who are still alive or who were alive in my lifetime (Queen mum and princess margaret).

Same as Chernobyl. I loved that series. I had no idea what went on there and while it was “just” a dramatisation I learned a lot.

Sea DH doesn't get tipped but would be over the moon with £50. As it is he's ecstatic to get a crate of beer Smile also I love the hummingbird baker oat and raisin cookies they're my favourite

ChristmasSeacow · 23/11/2019 15:51

I think I should tip... off to see what cash I’ve got!

northender · 23/11/2019 15:54

When we had our loft done I think we got them slabs of beer.
Well the choc buttercream tastes divine & it's the best effort I've ever made, far from perfect but did is very happy & so am I. Thanks for your advice ladies.
Unescorted your dd's friend is well ahead of ds with her statement. Luckily college are helping him along, but it feels like pulling teeth.

Your cushion cover is beautiful North. And the cupcakes look amazing.
DD had to have her application in really early for the Oxford app so I forget that the final date isn't passed. I have been head pecking all day. Although they are cooking me my tea so that I can continue watching The Crown & catch them up on season 3.

So. Dgrandma (92) is in hospital. She broke her hip a week ago due to, we think, dehydration and a fall. She’s had a hip replacement and has been rehydrated etc. She can’t walk (was very frail anyway and struggled to walk), she doesn’t drink, she’s losing it a bit mentally. She’s been discharged from hospital today. My uncle and aunt who are there weren’t told. Only her nursing home.

Dm and duncle are raging. Hospital said they’d squared things with the home. The home initially weren’t told how bad she is. But still they’ve discharged her.

I’ve just spoken to Dm. Duncle is with grandma now. But has to leave to go home at some point (he’s about a 30 minute drive away). A staff member is going to pop in to check on her every hour or so tonight.

Dgrandma has told everyone she can use a walking stick and nothing’s else. No crutches. No physio. Nothing. Ffs.

She’s going to end up back in hospital by the end of the week I fear.

Wolfcub · 23/11/2019 18:44

Bloody hell Em that's really shocking. It sounds like she needs more nursing care and frailty/occ health support whist she recovers.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/11/2019 18:49

That's awful em. Poor DGM.

ememem84 · 23/11/2019 19:26

I know. I e told Dm to make a complaint but the issue here is that hospital say she’s medically fit to be discharged. And home say they can do the care. So what can we do....

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/11/2019 20:06

If home day they can do the care you need to see her care plan. She should have one and it should be updated with her needs since hospital.
This is the document that all staff should follow and record into.
If the care plan is not updated then there should be some nursing records for her. Is this a UK nursing home?

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/11/2019 20:07

It will now hinge on the home actually carrying out the correct care now.

ememem84 · 23/11/2019 21:45

Yea life uk - in the south west. Ddad has said to Dm that essentially “they’ve done all they can do they need to step back now” with they being Dm and duncle. As in let the authorities handle it. I mean obviously don’t walk away from dgrandma. Just don’t interfere in her care.

To be honest I find it incredulous that a hospital will discharge a frail 90 something year old woman who could barely walk anyway due to other issues. Yesterday apparently hospital said she needed an urgent dementia assessment. It’s all so sad.

And I feel for Dm who is here. And can’t get off island until Tuesday at the earliest due to flights and other commitments. She feels trapped and unhelpful. Duncle is the one on the ground dealing with things.

ibuiltahomeforyou · 23/11/2019 22:00

I just spent £1.50 in Wilkos and £2.50 in Clinton's today on a birthday card.
Went to the library with my DD as our activity this afternoon

northender · 23/11/2019 22:52

Em it's so hard when you're a long way from close relatives, tricky for your mum.
Unescorted is it an art course your dad has applied to Oxford for?
Dd's meal went so well. It is the first ever party type birthday celebration since preschool. She never wanted a party as she found just the idea too overwhelming & often got upset at the end of the day as just getting presents was overwhelming for her. So this is a massive step & she really enjoyed it. She has a great group of friends & I felt very proud. We've just been chatting & she said she did find it a bit much at times, but handled it really well. I had a lovely catch up with my friends too. Having a glass of red, curled up in PJ's now, night all.

Unescorted · 23/11/2019 22:53

em that is pants, but mostly care homes don't accept patients back from hospital unless they are equipped to care for them. Dementia can cause a fall because sufferers have difficulty judging spatial awareness. It is like misjudging how many stairs are left in a flight or things appear to come out of the ground. Many care homes are designed to be whole life - with residents moving to more intensive care provision as necessary.

The Crown is v. absorbing. At the Suez crisis now.

northender · 23/11/2019 23:53

Dd obviously. Damn auto correct.

SnugglySnerd · 24/11/2019 06:56

I'd like to watch the Crown. No Netflix though!

Em that is rubbish. I hope she's ok. Very stressful for your family.

Poor dd Girlie. Hope today is better for her.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/11/2019 08:03

Unescorted is right especially if it's a nursing home with dementia care there will be qualified nurses on site alongside the care assistants.
Poor DM though it must be so frustrating for her. X

Nsd planned today. Finished yesterday £17 take away

maddenlightfoot · 24/11/2019 08:09

North so pleased the birthday celebrations went well - sounds like a lovely evening!

I also haven't watched The Crown and really want to! Mainly because dh is not keen. We manage to sit down most evenings and have time to watch one episode of something so we have to be in agreement!

Em sorry to hear about dgm.

Slow morning here. Off swimming later (already paid) and out for lunch.
