We don't get paid a month behind. I notice today that my expenses for May haven't been approved yet and I think it may be passed the cut off. Going to be a bit annoyed if it's been missed as it's quite a bit of money to me.

Girliefriendlikescake · 03/06/2019 18:54

Ugh thats means they've over paid me wreck Sad will ring payroll tomorrow. That puts me nearly £100 down there will be a lot of beans on toast this month I think....

SnugglySnerd · 03/06/2019 21:13

Nsd but the online supermarket order is going to be close £100. I'm stocking up as we've had a couple of freezer and cupboard weeks.

ememem84 · 03/06/2019 21:57

Bought myself a hoody In Jack wills today. But am taking it back as it’s a slightly cropped one.

So £45 back in my account. Also bought some basic T-shirt’s. But those are fine.

Any tips to getting ds to like washing his hair? He screams the place down. Every time.

Cagliostro · 03/06/2019 23:08

Yep pretty much life but he’s also got tablets for the osteo which should build his bone strength back up. There’s huge risks of side effects sadly but it’s that or nothing really

northender · 03/06/2019 23:53

Don't panic Girlie enhancements are paid a month in arrears, so yes, you'll just have had April's.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/06/2019 06:25

That's such a kick in the teeth CAG. I'm so sorry to hear that.
No tips em sorry. My two hated it as well.
Nsd planned today

WreckTangled · 04/06/2019 06:34

Em tricky. Have you tried goggles? Shower instead of bath? Lying on the draining board with his head over the sink? No other ideas I'm afraid.

maddenlightfoot · 04/06/2019 06:48

Sorry to hear that cag, sounds tough for all of you Thanks

Rainy first day back at school (yesterday was an inset) - I can do this!! Need to make a sandwich to take for lunch and don't have any planned spends so hopefully NSD.

Girliefriendlikescake · 04/06/2019 06:52

Em I think you can buy special hats to stop water going in kids eyes re hair washing, dd was also a nightmare. I think swimming and showering rather than baths helped a bit as it got dd used to water splashing on her face.

Girliefriendlikescake · 04/06/2019 06:59

Thanks North I was panicking a bit!!!

I'm awake with period pain 😫 day off today, dd has a hospital appointment this morning so will cost a bit in parking. I'm also picking up sil's bday gift £20 (voucher for beauty treatment) no other spends planned.

Had frugal win Ystd as popped into co op for some yellow label bread, got three loaves and a some veg and had enough points on my loyalty card to pay for them, cost me £0.

Bornlazy · 04/06/2019 07:22

Very spendy day yesterday. Can’t even write it down it’s too depressing, but it was mostly all on holiday clothes for our holiday in 3 weeks time. Still have more things to get too 🙈 I tend to buy all new socks and pants for going away which is fine but not when ds1 has developed a taste for the finer things in life and wants Calvin Klein 😱

Girlie my unsociable hours are paid a month in arrears, so I would definitely get April’s in May.

northender · 04/06/2019 07:23

Aaaaargh! Missed the Ultrasun TSV by about 1 minute life. That was a great deal, need to read frugal thread earlier each day!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 04/06/2019 07:29

I got a 400ml ultrasun for £38 which I thought was good.

CurlsandCurves · 04/06/2019 07:29

em my youngest hated it too.

I got a squidgy plastic jug from mothercare I think. Because it’s soft, you can fill it with water, gently place it on his tipped back head and the water will wet his hair without going in his eyes.

Even with that it took ages to get him used to it, he would only let me use it on the back of his head at first then I’d use my hands to wet the rest. But we got there in the end.

£35 yesterday on Amazon on the first couple of presents for DS2’s birthday next week. Going actual shopping in town today with my mum for the rest and to help her choose some gifts from her and dad.

Happierwithouthim · 04/06/2019 10:24

Mine held facecloths over the eyes em actually still do a lot of the time when I think about it and I use a bowl of water to rinse the hair down their backs. Dm had a thing like a halo that had an elasticated hole in the centre of it for around dsis's head

Cagliostro · 04/06/2019 11:37

Anyone know about health insurance? I was looking at a clinical psychologist (for myself) and it says “insurance accepted” what does this mean? Is it that if you have insurance privately then they would pay or part pay, does that end up being cheaper? The sessions are about £90, now I’m wondering if getting insurance would actually be more economical. But then my issues are very much a pre existing condition (hospital stays and everything) so maybe they wouldn’t pay anyway. I have no clue about this. But I really can’t carry on as I am anymore so have to do something. Any thoughts please wise ones x

maddenlightfoot · 04/06/2019 17:03

....hmmm, not sure about health insurance but I always imagine it costs ££££ anyway so might not work out to be very economical anyway. Are you a gym member? I'm sure I recall some gym memberships being tied in with health insurance packages (kind of making sure you stay healthy so don't cost the insurance company anything!) so could look in to that?

Talking about being healthy... we're just about to have JPs and I kid you not when I say there's not a single thing in the salad drawer. We do have half a tub of coleslaw but not sure that will do for 5 peoples' 5-a-day 😂

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/06/2019 17:13

I shouldn't think pre existing will be covered but I know very little about it. Try mse?
Will be buying fruit tonight as the ent hospital is next to a Morrisons. Next physio booked for Monday £40
£2.49 protein bar. Needed chic and this was the best but not frugal option

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 04/06/2019 19:08

Spendy day but mostly birthday money so can’t complain, treated myself a bit.

Cag that’s really shit for dh, so sorry to hear he can’t have the op

I’m a bit behind again will try and catch up tomorrow

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/06/2019 19:09

Happierwithouthim · 04/06/2019 19:49

Paid €100 of the remaining €295 due on our July holiday

Happierwithouthim · 04/06/2019 19:53

I forgot toilet roll in shopping delivery guess I'll be spending money tomorrow Grin

northender · 04/06/2019 19:54

Cag what about trainees who need to get their hours in. I imagine there must be some schemes like that for a more affordable service.
