Yes, dippy as in the diplodocus that used to be in the natural history. £5 metro as it was raining. ££££ on lunch, snacks and gift shop.

Mil is doing ok one handed but her MH has taken a plunger.

Sounds fab happier. Suprise suprise H didn't cough up.

Everyone sounds very productive today.

SnugglySnerd · 27/05/2019 20:21

Your garden looks beautiful Girlie.
We saw Dippy in Brum last year. The dcs loved him!
It was so nearly an NSD but I bought a packet of crisps!

Girliefriendlikescake · 27/05/2019 20:41

Thanks for all the nice comments re the garden, I do love being out there.

Nice day here, popped to town and spent £3.50 in Wilkos, £8 in subway and £5 in primark.

My mums home, she popped in briefly en route to her house which was lovely. She has done so well (walked the entire Camino way!) glad to have her home though!

We're off to sidmouth tomorrow and I'm planning to have a break from mn, fb etc so won't post for a few days, will be back though 😜

ememem84 · 27/05/2019 21:03

Ds would love dippy. He’s well into “didoors” at the moment.

SnugglySnerd · 27/05/2019 21:55

Have a great time, Girlie.

maddenlightfoot · 27/05/2019 22:44

Omg girlie, I have just completed a section of the Camino! I met a friend (doing the whole way) at the quieter end and across the Pyrenees - maybe I crossed paths with your DM?!

It has been fab to be out, away in peace, walking and contemplating but any trip away involves a fair amount of ££ - I head home tomorrow, richer in my soul if not in pocket 😂

Roll on June!

ememem84 · 28/05/2019 09:00

Advice needed please my lovelies. Dropped ds off at nursery and there was a sign which I have been dreading seeing. Nits!!!

Any recommendations for the best/most effective treatment? I’ll check ds’ hair later on but what’s the best way to do this and the best anti-nit stuff to use.

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/05/2019 09:28

Em get a nitty gritty comb and cheap conditioner. Comb daily. Easier said than done.
We have a scheme here is you provide evidence to a pharmacy you get free treatment but not everywhere does it.
We have used hedrin when needed. Not sure if preggo compatable though.

I have been reading the frugal tips thread. There is some stuff I had forgotten. Defo worth a look.

ememem84 · 28/05/2019 09:33

Thanks i’ll Take a trip to boots down the road later and see if I can grab a comb. Will ask about preggo safe stuff too.

GreasedPiglet · 28/05/2019 10:15

Em, DS has survived lots of nits outbreaks at school without catching them so far 🤞🏻.

ememem84 · 28/05/2019 10:26

gp that’s what I’m hoping. £10 in boots on nit comb and a treatment. Also some cheap conditioner. Just in case.

Will check him when he gets home. It’s going to be an interesting evening. He hates a hair wash.....

Back on bed now. It’s Windy and cold. And I’m going to have a go at finishing my assignment.

SnugglySnerd · 28/05/2019 15:13

Em after an nit outbreak in our house last year they are all now checked with the Nitty Gritty comb weekly. We've managed to keep them at bay for ages.

Happierwithouthim · 28/05/2019 18:09

Em you can me the itch for the day Grin
Dd is almost finished her fourth year in school nit free, tip I was given was tie up hair and use tea tree shampoo as a preventative

€5 on grated cheese & pasta
€29.71 using 15% off discount code for my vitamins, I'm down to last sachet Shock

happytobemrsg · 28/05/2019 18:35

So nearly a NSD but DH forgot to buy DS apples & he has been demanding asking for one all day. So £1.70 spent in Tesco near work.

Had some good news. Sent my stuff to my accountant & my tax bill looks to be just over £2k less than I had put aside! So a lovely £2k bonus to go in my savings! Whoop!

Bits have arrived from ASOS so will try them on when I get home. Fingers crossed 🤞 they are nice on.

Had a draining day at work today. Maybe I’ll make it a rule that we all have to be positive tomorrow. The constant negativity is just too much.

Oh no em!! I remember getting nits as a kid. DS has quite long hair so I’ll have to keep an eye on him.

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 28/05/2019 20:10

Hi all.
It is my youngest birthday today, she is 9! Time goes too fast!
So a spendy day as we went for a meal at pizza hut.
We are going to my Mum's tomorrow, which will be lovely and the DCs are excited as their cousins will be there too.

happytobemrsg · 28/05/2019 20:27

Happy birthday mini Curvy!

Tried on the clothes from ASOS. Bit of a disappointment really. Tops were all huge & the cargo trousers were a bit weird. Jumpsuit was too big so wanted to order the next size down which is now out of stock 😡 so have ordered 2 sizes down instead. It’s stretchy so who knows. I like the denim dress but it fits now with very little give so I’ve ordered another but sized up. What a faff.

ememem84 · 28/05/2019 20:32

Nit update. He has nits. Ffs. He did not enjoy the nit combing. Or the treatment. Or the blow dry. We did my hair at the same time just in case.

Dh is in denial. Ah it’ll be fine. We don’t need to do any of this etc. I told him to go do something else and let me get on with it.

Nursery have said to keep kids off for a week if they have nits. Usually I’d keep to these restrictions (if it was for a sick bug or chicken pox or something). However. I have appointments all over the place tomorrow. Have an essay to finish. And have treated him (needs to stay on ideally overnight rinced off next day). AIBU to send him back to the place from whence the nits came?

WreckTangled · 28/05/2019 20:45

That seems insane! Even d&v only had a 48 hour rule Grin conjunctivitis and slapped cheek require no time away from a school and neither do worms or head lice. Unfortunately they're just so common in children they'd have an empty nursery for a week if they enforced it. obviously they're a private nursery and can set their own rules (and don't have to adhere to public health England guidance not being in England....)

ememem84 · 28/05/2019 20:54

So I’m not being unreasonable to send him in tomorrow?!
I agree it’s ridiculous.

SnugglySnerd · 28/05/2019 20:56

I'd send him, Em. Vosene is good for keeping them at bay not helpful now

WreckTangled · 28/05/2019 20:57

Absolutely not! I found a live adult louse in DD's hair (first time ever) as I was doing her hair for school and still sent her in. I did a quick dry comb and couldn't see any more but there was no way I was phoning my boss to ask for carers leave because dd had a louse in her hair.

darkriver19886 · 28/05/2019 20:59

Sold a couple of things today so I am up £40 I am going to put some on my gas and electric tomorrow but the rest I am going to tide me over.

northender · 28/05/2019 21:02

Girlie have a great time in Sidmouth, it's lovely there. Your garden looks amazing, again.
Happier no surprise that exh didn't contribute
curvy happy birthday to your dd
Em Hedrin is good for the nit battle.
life well done on the fundraiser. We're in a similar situation at the cricket. The next stage of our development will cost £40-50k, so every little helps, my contribution being the teas etc.

We are a sickly house today. Dd and I were sick after a lunch out at the weekend so I've been off work today. Starting to feel better now & managing fluids & bland food so hopefully will be back to work tomorrow. Apart from the ill fated lunch (£23) minimal spends, although spent £15 on a comfort parcel for sil who had a scan on Thursday to discover the baby had stopped developing & has to wait until later this week to have it dealt with Sad. It's the third time this has happened, as well as another couple of miscarriages. They have a ds but I can only imagine how she must be feeling.

ememem84 · 28/05/2019 21:07

Vosene!!! I thought it was that one!!!!

I called dsis before I headed to the shop this morning (teacher so familiar with nits). But she didn’t pick up.

She recommended tiserand shampoo. Or some tea tree shampoo.

I thought I’d read somewhere about vosene. Wish I’d bought some now!!!

darkriver19886 · 28/05/2019 21:13
