Apparently crying is the only way to get your dc to do as they're told, who knew?! 😣

Wolfcub · 19/10/2018 08:30

Wreck even crying isn’t working for me anymore! Sounds like you’re having a rough morning. Hope the day improves

Definitly share the woolly goodness sea. Love a bit of wool

ChristmasSeacow · 19/10/2018 09:23

Oh dear Wreck

You are quite right Quite, yarn and cake are definitely meaningful purchases Wink

Meadow I’m so glad you had a better day. I’m piling up baby clothes here for you if you are interested? They’ll mostly be 12-18m but will defo see you through next summer and autumn!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 19/10/2018 09:40

Oh dear wreck sometimes they need to see we are only human! Dd has had me in tears before now as well 😕 the book 'how to talk so you're kids will listen and listen so kids will talk' is an oldie but a goody for parenting tips. I need to reread it I think 😉

I have just totted up the guest list for my party and it's up to 65 people who have confirmed 😮 I was worried no one would come 😂 some people I haven't heard from at all which I think is rude. Honestly it doesn't take 5 secs to send a yes/no text 😬

I've had a very productive morning, tidied, hoovered everywhere, sorted washing, stripped dds bed and put another wash load on 😇

ememem84 · 19/10/2018 10:26

Productive morning here. Up at 630, shower washing on breakfast made and eaten ds dressed and bags packed for dh. Bin out. Cat fed.

Dh took ds to the dr for his vaccinations and I hopped out of the car and walked the rest of the way to work. Picked up a chai latte on my way. £2.10 but it’s payday so yay!

Have moved some money about and paid a bit off my credit card and made a small transfer to my other account.

Dh called and said that ds couldn’t have his vaccinations but I’ll rebook for next week. Annoying but it is what it is.

They’re at the new house now waiting for the delivery of washing machine dryer and freezer. Yippee.

Totally agree with Girlie no harm in showing them you are only human Flowers
However there would be consequences to that sort of behaviour and if it was linked to tiredness/over doing it then a weekend of quiet reflection no nice activities did mine the world of good Wink

SenescentLeaves · 19/10/2018 10:46

I just got down to business and did some proper working work, and sent photos to my collaborator. Yay!

WreckTangled · 19/10/2018 11:08

Girlie I've got that book and have tried reading it but it's just so boring.

Quite we were going to John Lewis today for coffee and cake and that has been cancelled. It all started because ds wanted something on tv and ds wouldn't let him so he hit her and then she scribbled on the drawing he'd spent ages doing. Then it turned into them not getting dressed etc etc. I've just had enough of them at the moment and because we're so poor right now and I'm stressed about how we'll afford Christmas I've got no patience.

£55 Aldi
£20 fuel.

Will post meal plan once I've actually sorted it.

warmleatherette · 19/10/2018 11:08

Morning all. Thanks again for the welcome and the tips and the referral codes! I've switched energy to Bulb and cancelled off everything non-essential. I've put the overdraft (nearly 2.5K) on a card and I'm going to ask them to remove the overdraft facility, much as it pains me. It costs £3 a DAY to be in your overdraft. It's evil. I've called the CSA to hurry them up and I'm considering a Stepchange plan for the debt, but I may need to move house at some point soon as the kids are 9 and 10 (boy / girl) and we have a 2 bed and I have a new partner... so I don't want to completely wreck my credit rating if I don't have to.

Shout outs to lonelyoversharer, curlsandcurves, wolfcub, mammynowanauntieIRL, girliefriendlikesflowers and taytocrisps for your yoga-related advice. I'm dithering towards losing the yoga and keeping the cleaner. As you say I can always practice at home. I'll try and wean myself off the cleaner but idk... so hard.

I do have help though... my parents have the kids many weekends and new partner is happy to give a hand with the laundry / dishwasher etc when here, which is, after seven years of solitude, frankly AMAZING. So I should probably ditch the cleaner. It's £80 a month after all.

Sigh. Next up - menu planning!

Thatsnotmybookworm · 19/10/2018 11:10

Sounds like a tough morning @WreckTangled; are they getting tired and cranky in the run up to half term?
I was just thinking this morning that I need to try to explain to DS that we can sometimes have a laugh and mess about when getting dressed etc but not when we are in a rush to get out the door in the morning so I can be at work early. He's 3 now; he should be able to understand that in simple terms shouldn't he? Grin

warmleatherette · 19/10/2018 11:10

Oh! Biggish spends this week:

£25 new glasses
£30 Boots including hair dye, medicines & vitamins for the children because they're always sick.
£6 takeaway pizza shared with friend and kids
£5 for kids for Wear it Pink Day / bake sale.

And that, my friends, is how you run up £14K of debt!

Apparently.

WreckTangled · 19/10/2018 11:12

Doubt it they're always like this. Ungrateful, unhelpful and selfish. Only like it with dh and I though so that's one thing I suppose

warmleatherette · 19/10/2018 11:17

Haha Wreck what ages are the kids? I don't miss the early years one little bit.

WreckTangled · 19/10/2018 11:20

5&8 😭 I might put the food shopping away and go back to bed, would that be neglectful?! Suppose I could leave them out a sandwich...

SenescentLeaves · 19/10/2018 11:21

I think back to bed is a splendid idea.

warmleatherette · 19/10/2018 11:42

Naps are a vital form of self-care.

Hugs wreck this too shall pass xx

Warm I’m wondering actually would it be good to just cancel both yoga and cleaner for now, and that way you will soon see what you miss and need the most? Give it a month or two and see how you get on? Especially if you’d be able to rejoin the same class/get the same cleaner back ie no waiting lists. You may find you need both, or you can get the cleaner for half the hours or whatever, but at least you’ll know you tried and also you will at least save some money short term.

The others have gone to Asda and they’ll ask at the pharmacy about baby as the rash has spread. Getting a bit of a top up shop too but I’m planning on using up lots of batch cooking from the freezer both to save money and to free up space for the next lot which I’d rather do over half term than in a normal “school” week.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 19/10/2018 12:04

Oh Wreck Flowers
Little wotsits Grin we have all been there.
Yep sounds like pre halfterm tirednessand a few early nights will help for the DC as well Grin
Sometimes it all gets too bloody much .

SenescentLeaves · 19/10/2018 12:47

warm I don't have a cleaner as I calculated that it would be cheaper to buy gadgets to do most of the work for me. I have two robot hoovers and a robot hard floor cleaner robot and a dishwasher and tumble dryer. There isn't a lot left for a cleaner to do, even if I had one. Might that work for you in the long run?

SenescentLeaves · 19/10/2018 12:55

I've just got a 25% off Boden token with free delivery and returns if anybody wants it.

ememem84 · 19/10/2018 13:04

£1.53 post office
£5.45 paperchase
£44 next (bought a pink fur gilet and a silver sparkle tutu for friend’s daughters birthday and a second tutu and a pit of sparkle tights for my other friend’s little girl - couldn’t resist it. I love spoiling her)
£5.30 lunch.
£4.45 corsadyl mouthwash for me in boots.

£40 taken out for riding tomorrow.

QuiteFabULousDahling · 19/10/2018 13:20

Sorry Wreck
Bit of a cross post there.
In that case maybe reevaluating things a bit once you feel better ?
Certainly no tv/screens over half term with a reminder why Im immune to whingeing
Mine only got into screens at a slightly older age but their behaviour always improved when they had a break.
Essentially DC are selfish ,its their way of surviving early life but Im a believer in respect for parents making for a nicer home life.
If they are not grateful or enjoying stuff then cut back -no point in breaking your neck Smile

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 19/10/2018 13:29

I'm in town finishing off a greggs £5 but that includes doughnuts to take into work for colleagues last day.

Spent £15 in boots on a few bits, used my points to buy some posh shampoo and conditioner (£10 worth)

£25 in new look on a new jumper as don't appear to have any that aren't stretched or full of holes!

ememem84 · 19/10/2018 13:49

Have eaten two frogs today. Hurrah. Two emails I didn’t want to draft (because complicated accounts stuff and they’re going out to my clients in the Middle East) have been done.
