Me! What are the rules of a no spend?

flowerycurtain · 23/09/2018 19:29

Me!
I'm going to aim for 20 NSD in October.

Got DD's birthday at the end and half term to get through but should be doable. Will be nice to get a bit of
A pre Christmas cushion.

mishfish · 24/09/2018 17:16

I would like to join. Are finances are starting to pick back up to the point we can now consider saving and would like to make sure we are being as sensible as possible! Thankfully we have lots of booze left over from our wedding to get us through 😂

SandysMam · 26/09/2018 06:25

Yes I need a no spend October!! I have blown loads this month and my savings have practically gone. If I can rebuild a bit of a cushion for Christmas, even £200, it would be fab. My biggest spends are in the supermarket. I have found the hand scanners at Tesco to be the best way to control my spending, you see it all add up. I need to make sure I spend only on essentials, not on extras. Lots of free trips out to library, museums etc, taking food rather than buying out, all the usual. Also trying to limit how much I go out in the car.

lillylollylandy · 27/09/2018 07:14

Payday tomorrow so will be aiming for as many October NSDs as possible. I've taken my eye off the financial ball a bit too much these last few months and need to get back in control.

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 27/09/2018 14:30

I'll join!
Had a very expensive time recently with school trips.
Not sure how many NSD I'm aiming for, but I will try to do as many as possible.

Gah81 · 27/09/2018 18:31

I will join please. I did one of these earlier on in the year and it really helped. A few expensive things coming up so I need to save.

I think I am going to aim for NS on any S&B stuff specifically (plus 4 NSDs per week).

Happy non-spending all!

RoseMartha · 27/09/2018 22:26

Can i join you all?

SandysMam · 29/09/2018 06:28

NSD yesterday, aiming for 4 a week, should be doable if I take packed lunches to work although will be using fuel etc. I have transferred as much as I can into my savings so I only have enough for essentials in my current account. That way if I want to buy something I have to really think about it.

RoseMartha · 29/09/2018 07:13

Yes i had a nsd yesterday.

Gah81 · 29/09/2018 07:34

NSD yesterday. Going out for a rare night out tonight though. Will eat a banana before I go which should help me not to eat everything on the menu!

Cutting down on alcohol recently (for health reasons - trying to eat a bit better) has had the fantastic side effect of both saving me money (and helping me lose 2kg in about 6 weeks: precisely just how many calories was I consuming in alcoholic form?!)

purplepigs · 29/09/2018 17:53

Okay all good - how's everyone? Everyone looking forward to the 1st October .... countdown

What are the rules?
No personal
Special buys during the month of October .... only essentials

Everyone you buy something which isn't a essential you must be honest and also any really successful day you MUST brag about on here LOL

I had a hugely successful day today popped in co-op to pick up stuff for lunch as I was visiting a relative the went to Game as our son wanted to spend some of his money I avoided places like B and M and Poundland - as I live cleaning bits but have LOADS at home - I resisted buying !!!!

purplepigs · 29/09/2018 23:04

@Gah81 yeh I haven't drink alcohol since coming back from holiday at the end of Sept. I feel so much better for it it's crazy. Def helping with the weight loss too.
Also debating doing 2 months as I feel so good !!!!

Gah81 · 30/09/2018 18:38

1 October tomorrow! Good luck all :) I have prepped my food for the week so hopefully (apart from some business lunches - on expenses) a good few NSDs in sight.

RoseMartha · 01/10/2018 14:42

Had to spend £2.25 on ingredients for dd, cooking at school.

Gah81 · 01/10/2018 18:53

NSD today. Aiming for another one tomorrow...!

Peachsnowpop · 01/10/2018 19:54

Day 1 - no spend.

I did a weeks food shop at the weekend and filled up with petrol. I shouldn't need to buy food till fri and I'm not going out this week

purplepigs · 01/10/2018 21:10

Day 1 - NSD complete
Had to pop into boots at lunch time and get a packet of cold and flu tablets .... 99p bargain. They were a must as I feel unwell.

OP posts:
gothefcktosleep · 01/10/2018 21:21

So here for this!!!!

Although today I bought:

  • Father Christmas board book for baby 49p
  • winter hat for baby (6-12 mos) £3.50
  • nappies, cucumber, butter (ONLY what we needed) £5.49
  • mum’s Xmas present £25

So expensive day but nothing for me and nothing frivolous

Tomorrow meant to go to Rhyme time - £1 but I think I can make Wednesday and Thursday NSDs

Neice’s birthday approaching, £20 on a voucher. Have her card already...

purplepigs · 01/10/2018 21:52

Well done and you got some bargains buys there !!!

OP posts:
Itis6oclocksomewhere · 02/10/2018 09:34

I did end up spending yesterday, but it was a top up food shop so essential spends.
Today I will be spending on car parking as I have an appointment and no free parking nearby.
Spending plans for the rest of the week include a food shop at some point, but hoping to keep to a low spend or NSD.

purplepigs · 02/10/2018 13:35

Today so far has been good.
Brought a breakfast shake in and just had lunch as my desk, so far this has been a NSD ! Yipee !

OP posts:
gothefcktosleep · 02/10/2018 14:26

Well done PurplePigs!!! Our day turned into an NSD too given DD fell asleep just before we were meant to be leaving for Rhyme time (and has been either sleeping or crying all day 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Peachsnowpop · 02/10/2018 18:05

Day 2 - £12 Spent Blush

£5 on food essentials & £7 on a decorative plant
