So I have my very own security team who will deflect. And will vow to be stuck with her if things get tough.

One of his god parents is now stressing as she had her nose pierced last week. Is this church appropriate?! No reason why not but I’ve warned her ds is obsessed with faces and pulling things now....#thiscouldendbadly

I shall report back later today. Estimated spends £550 (for food for the reception £10 something a head for 50 people. Estimated money back on my pub loyalty card £150...)

Laska5772 · 27/05/2018 08:25

Cake and christening worth every penny em .. this kind of thing is why we frugal.

DD has just murdering the DGDs in the bath buy the sound of it . ( mega tantrums in progress from 2 at once). I am currently holed up in bedroom awaiting my turn in wrecked bathroom.. non-intervention is the way .. Grandmas can do this ! Grin.
....I hope I am nothing like your MIL em

Unescorted · 27/05/2018 08:32

em sounds you will need the loyalty points to get through her stay. Good luck at the christening. The cake is amazing.
Wolf sounds as if your parents are being really supportive. It is good to have parents like that.
North DD has similarly monosyllabic GCSE updates. I will be glad when it is all over.

Seamless bras.. sports bras are designed to have no seams. Aldi do really comfy ones - I confess it is me who buys all of them when they appear. I also like the Nike ones but they are expensive. Or try Decathlon.

DS and DH are in Scotland doing the Highland trail 550 bike race again. DS is carrying all his own equipment so he can get a proper time. Last year he had an "accompanied" time. I have just had word that one of the other competitors has been knocked off his bike by a cow.

ememem84 · 27/05/2018 08:33

Haha laska to be like mil you need to hover and criticise whilst she is bathing the littlies. Then make her feel worthless.

And then go all airheady and probably think you’re being funny (but people just look at you like you a thicky) and say daft things like “are sandwiches made with bread here?” (You. Lived. Here. For. 38. Fucking. Years. You. Know. What. A. Fucking. Sandwich. Is) maybe someone thinks that’s an endearing quality. I don’t.

ememem84 · 27/05/2018 08:40

Thank you all for your well wishes and virtual support and fist bumps these last couple of days. X

Laska5772 · 27/05/2018 08:42

but what would they make sandwiches out of otherwise?Confused

I make every effort to not say a thing about Dds parenting style ,.. they are her children..(and she does brilliantly).

My job s to be fun grandma and provide the food etc . Laska crawls around living room floor being a puss cat or horsey.. (I am not sure which)

WreckTangled · 27/05/2018 08:46

Have a good day em!

We've had sausages and now we're going to have coffee and pain au chocolat

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/05/2018 08:50

Laksa I'm sure you are a fab mil as you are so supportive and non judgemental.

Love it - see that person, you don't like her. Nose piercing will be fine for church. They are more interested in your commitment to support ds's spiritual growth.
The christening will be worth the spends, they are such lovely days.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/05/2018 08:57

No one find it endearing Em. You do just look truly thick doing that, not like an ingènue. More like dementia “oh the poor thing, her minds going”.

My knockoff printer toners working really well, £6 not £60. I’ve done all but two of dhs ppi and all but one of mine & emailed the leccy as I’m £23 in credit and I’m not even trying to be frugal with it. I want a refund and my dd lowered.

ememem84 · 27/05/2018 09:19

we Are looking forward to it.

Things which will happen today. Mil will thank dh for his generosity and for organising everything. And will probably take all the credit herself (as has happened in the past). Dh pointed out last night that his family have done nothing to help us with Ds. Only to me. But he’s sad about that. They (being the aunts and uncles and cousins) couldn’t even be bothered to rsvp to the invite so I’m estimating 50 people because that’s how many were on the invite list. They will expect a free bar (not happening).

QuiteCleanBandit · 27/05/2018 10:12

em you are magnificent !

Asking a question you all ready know the answer to is a rhetorical question.
MiL knows the answer and so does everyone else ,know that she knows(em guests DH) .
Its designed to provoke a reaction in others or sometimes to get others to confirm something so that the questioner looks like the innocent party.
"Do sandwiches here have bread in them?"
A.reply with eyeroll well DUH !(Mil can claim to be got at/play victim)

B.Yes of course( closes down the drama and she has nowhere to go )

In the case of knowing someone for example has had an affair it can be a sneaky way of outing this but someone else getting blamed.
Either way its nasty/sneaky/PA
I have met a number of older women who do this -in the course of my work .
Not sure why

QuiteCleanBandit · 27/05/2018 10:14

I tended to not reply
They would then repeat
I didnt reply and they usually gave up

Wolfcub · 27/05/2018 10:29

Good luck to those parenting through GCSEs, I’m pretty sure I remember being pretty uncommunicative and vague when asked how mine went although it’s rather a long time ago now

Em that’s a beautiful cake and I hope ds has a lovely special day today

Wreck the beach looks lovely
North enjoy the cricket
Life have a wonderful day at the rspb, I may go myself for a walk later as it’s an open space and safe for a lone walker. Then again I may just stay in my jamas and drink wine

My parents have been great, we haven’t always had an easy relationship but they’ve been phenomenal through this including my df last night asking if I wanted to bring my jamas to theirs in case I didn’t want to be in the house on my own. Bless them.

Have a lovely frugal Sunday everyone whatever you are doing CakeGinWine

Good luck with the Christening Em. Sounds like you have your team well on your side, which is great. Smile

We're having a quiet time here with ds and myself recovering from gut lurgy. Nice weather though so that's good.

LonelyOversharer · 27/05/2018 12:36

Quiet day here so far. Been pottering in the garden (something dug up my courgettes last night), and have been out of my bike. Crikey. 5 months of sitting on my bum and putting on at least a stone really shows. Just 7 miles, but it's bloody windy here. 12mph going out, 30mph back with the wind behind me.

I love my bike. That is all.

So I guess it's time to pull myself together and stop eating my body weight in biscuits everyday. I even made 2 batches of cookies last night as we had none in.

em have a brilliant day.

SnugglySnerd · 27/05/2018 12:40

Have a lovely day Em.

CremeEggThief · 27/05/2018 12:48

Have a super day, Em.

Life, the balloon glow went ahead last night. We had a meal in a pub close by and then went along. £38 for 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 drinks and £9.90 bus travel.

Wolfcub · 27/05/2018 13:37

Been to the tip with 11 years worth of paint tins that h refused to bin and I think are a fire risk and a bag of garden rubbish. Unfortunately I couldn’t lift the other bags he’s left in the garden, I may bed for enlist some help.
Been to the nursery for a few plants and planted them £9.80 6 antirhiinums, a lupine and two alpine things with nice white flowers. Need to finish cleaning the bathroom later got half way round earlier and stopped. I am now settling down to watch the Grand Prix without someone bitching at me about what a crap sport it is Grin. It’s a beautiful day here

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/05/2018 13:55

He thinks F1 is crap? You are well rid.

I hope your ok Em, the cake is lovely and he’s a lucky boy to have you for a mummy.

I’m having a NSD.

WreckTangled · 27/05/2018 15:00

Hope you're having a lovely day em.

I like f1 agree with fluffy

El scorchio here today. We were at the beach for a few hours then went to Pizza Hut where they accidentally put mushrooms on half the pizza so, before we even noticed, they offered to do us another one and we could take it in a take away box. They also did a thin instead of deep pan for ds so did the same for him even though we didn't ask. We will be all pizzad out by tomorrow. And fat.

LonelyOversharer · 27/05/2018 15:09

But two free pizzas makes it bearable cost wise wreck

Am watching the grand prix in bed! Well on the bed but very comfy. We are debating cancelling sky. F1 is our only bugbear, and not worth £46.50/m. And we're watching on ch4 right now! I have a simple package too, but the price creeps up about £5 a year. Have had enough of it.

SunnyLikeThursday · 27/05/2018 15:15

That sounds like a very good idea Lonely. We cancelled pay tv years ago and never really noticed the difference.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/05/2018 15:41

You could get a Now tv sports pass for race days lonely. Sky’s website does interviews and f1stuff.

I didn’t know Sky was that pricey. I knew virgin could cost a lot.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/05/2018 15:43

Oh I'm pleased it happened crème as the whole event seems dogged with weather issues.

Rspb was lovely. £16.50 non frugal lunch. £28 Sainsbury's for stuff for lunch tomorrow.

£2 into a car boot which I was right is not that good. Going to finish going through the garage this afternoon ready for 2 weeks time.

Can you decant the rubbish into more bags wolf? You parents sound like they are really coming through for you
