SunnyLikeThursday · 01/04/2018 12:10

Ds and I are making a parts list for a lego model that has a 480 page instruction manual, but paging through the manual writing down the full list of parts. Someone just came to visit while were in the middle of it and I felt a bit of a noodle. We really live it large here.

Lonely I think the kind of people who are worth having as friends are probably okay with second hand books as gifts tbh.

Hello All
Have been trying to catch up with all the chat!
Issues have been resolved a little and DR (relative) and I have come to a firm agreement that when the time comes we will NOT be unpaid carers so feel relieved as we are united in this.
#deliberately vague as nosey parkers probably still reading.
Did shop prior to Easter weekend £95 in Sainsburys. Not bad for 5
Not doing a roast as did lots of baking -loaf cakes ,Hotcross buns and pastel de natas over the weekend Smile
Chilli tonight .
Have scored in Charity shops, levis (gorgeously soft) a Hush tangerine cashmere jumper for £6 Grin and brand new french sole pumps £7 so super happy.
Thanks to the frugaleer who pointed me to the Boden clearance -I luff yoooou !
I think it was Fluffy Grin
Several much needed dresses purchased (all within budget and planned) and Nectar points as well.
Having said that none are showing in my app yet.Hmm
DFM ( dear family members ) are being great-hit a very low point with all the demands but I do recognise I find it hard to say no .
Bloody Pollyanna I am !Wink
Today is Knitting,reading and Tv.
Hi Lonely
Reading your latest post I think we are very alike (sorry I have said this before)
Decluttering was the "big push" I needed to change my spending ways-I had a billion of everything and felt miserable as I couldnt find anything.Ever.
Marie bloody Kondo Hmm
Love the irony that her book is clutter in itself .
I love yarn and books and Dcat so they are staying.
Everything else gets binned if its chipped or broken or recycled if it no longer fits etc.
I hope it inspires you -I was OD and cards maxed out and have totally changed - now saved £3K since Christmas and still have a nice lifestyle .
Most of all I feel so much happier Smile
Can we talk face stuff ?(cant be botheted to wander off to S&B)
Discovered Superfacialist and tried the VitC facial oil.
Its gorgeous and smells heavenly ,2 drops and a warm flannel and it whisks my make up off .
Currently a third off in Boots. This replaces my Body Shop Silky Cleansing Oil which I liked and had frugally used up.
Woah sorry for the long post .
Watching for snow tomorrow 🐧

Happy Easter everyone Easter Smile! Hope you're all having a nice day. I've had some of my egg and I'm chilling now before I get dinner going.

I spent approx. €22 in my local shop - TV Guide, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and a few other bits and bobs. I'm a bit annoyed that I didn't realize that my shower gel and hair stuff were all running low last time I did my big Tesco shop, as I'm sure they'd have been much cheaper from Tesco. Lesson learnt - I'll make sure to order some next time I do my Tesco shop.

Sorry to hear things are so tight for you Lonely

Unescorted · 01/04/2018 12:32

Happy Easter.

We are having a slow day. Possibly a walk later....

Lonely I find the end of the month empty cupboard a bit meh too. I start the month with grand plans to cook snacks each weekend but it never lasts.

Taytocrisps · 01/04/2018 12:32

Oh, I forgot to say that I was very tempted by some lovely Easter table decorations in Carraig Donn but I resisted wonder if they'll be reduced after Easter

Laska5772 · 01/04/2018 13:01

The only thing I liked about Marie Kondo was the rolling the Tshirts up in the drawers so you could easily see what you had and keep it tidy ... life changing? .. ( well yes, it really was! )..

Happy Easter all,
I really must do my tomato seeds.. Yes its late but they catch up..

Making a sort of chicken Caesar salad for later ( although it will be more like a club salad..
Am marinading my chicken in left over kefir and harissa .. our kefir grains have grown so numerous now that I cant keep up with it all. I have tried to give some away at work , but no takers.. everyone just looks at me like Hmm.

Good to see you again no cuts
lonely you sound like you are getting there! but yes its hard to cut back on o spending on credit especially when income i s so varied as yours it .. just keep taking small steps , and you will get there..
em Grin at only things that give joy are shoes and DS! you might decide its just the former when he becomes a teenager

ememem84 · 01/04/2018 13:16

Laska5772 · 01/04/2018 18:21

DH has decided to iron the new curtains as the creases haven't really successfully dropped since we hang them .Two sets of full length patio door size curtains.. He is making a fine job of it .. who am I to stop him?.. Grin
ill make him a Pre-dinner Gin as a rewards ..

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/04/2018 19:16

John Lewis Easter decs are in the sale now. I missed out on a lovely Argos gravy boat, butter dish, egg cups combo earlier. I should reserve first and think later.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 01/04/2018 19:18

We have had a nice day, went to mums for a family roast and have come home and watched 'Wonder' it was really good but I cried a lot at various bits!!

The weather is seriously shit and I'm feeling a bit fed up that our holiday is going to be spent under layers of clothes and blankets rather than sunning ourselves on the beach!! That said am pretty much packed and ready for the off in the morning. Ropey WiFi where we are going so will sign out for a week....

Taytocrisps · 01/04/2018 20:05

Sorry the forecast is so bad Girlie. I haven't checked the forecast here yet but sunning ourselves on a beach would never happen in Ireland at Easter. If it doesn't snow, I'll be happy.

AdoraBell · 01/04/2018 20:33

NSD

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/04/2018 21:32

Well we came home a day early as frankly the forecast West to east is frankly shit for tomorrow. Was good but spendy.

Have read but am not name checking everyone except sea Flowers for you and your dad

AuditAngel · 01/04/2018 21:37

Hi all, not too many spends today. €2.40 for sticking plaster strips, DD2 and I both have hang nails and I got a whopping double splinter as well. Also about €20 on drinks out during the day.

We bought a Fisher Price high chair for about £90, did all 3 DC and then I sold on to a granny for £10 yo keep at her house. We also had a great wooden one from Tchibo for £40, which we still have 11 years on, and a second wooden one . I also gave one a bit like this not sure of the brand, but think it us still in the loft. Happy to pass on for the postage. Could send pictures when we get home

mammymammyIRL · 01/04/2018 21:40

I've not caught up but decided to search Argos for Easter decorations after fluffy mentioned them. I've now reserved 100 piece Christmas tree decoration set for €1.99 Grin like a bottom drawer for first Christmas separated Grin

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 01/04/2018 22:04

I found the Marie Kondo mantra of 'does this bring me joy?' useful for when we sorted through dds bedroom, she now happily brings me stuff and says 'I don't want this anymore mum, it doesn't make me happy' which is better than holding onto crap stuff for no reason. I agree you can't do it to everything though, some stuff is useful and practical even though it brings you no joy!

Just checked my account and inwardly sighed, by the time the direct debits and recent spends come out and I have paid the cattery £64 plus holiday spends there is going to not a lot left.

Oh well, the rest of April should be super frugal and the holiday is otherwise free (belongs to parents of friend) so not going to stress too much....

CremeEggThief · 01/04/2018 23:26

I'm sure you will still have a good time, Girlie. It's good to get away. Cosy up in the caravan and chill out.

NSD today. Hope everyone has had a nice day.

Cagliostro · 01/04/2018 23:51

Happy easter to all.
Spends
£10 Natas. Dad took us to Nando’s for a very traditional Easter lunch :o so I got the pudding which we took back to mum’s flat after a trip to the playground. le yum. I may have dropped the odd bit of rice on the baby. The disadvantage of slings. At least in a month or so she can help me eat it instead 😂
£9 train
£5 snacks (fail)
£7 taxi

northender · 02/04/2018 07:14

Morning all. Sorry to all of you having bad weather holidays. Easter is never a time away for us as dh works in finance so it's his busiest time of the year.
Easter has been good here until yesterday when I started with a chest infection. I've got bronchiectasis which makes me prone to them but I've managed to dodge them for 18 months now which is a long time. Hoping rest, paracetamol & lots of hot drinks will help me to a quick recovery. Doing nothing today, going to watch my football team on the tv rather than in person while dh & ds are off to Lincolnshire for the day to watch their team.
Staying at home will mean no pre match pub spends so frugal win!

ememem84 · 02/04/2018 07:16

Morning.

A couple of my eBay listings sold last night. Yippee! So will post those in the week. £15 ish made.
