Moneysavingexperts energy club

We are currently with British Gas for electricity and fed up with high bills.

We just had a smart meter fitted and it’s sickening seeing out money flying out the window

Have any of you used the moneysavingexperts energy club?

Is it straight forward?

Will the British Gas smart meter cause any issues switching between companies?

TIA

Nope; all fine. Used the energy club and have saved about 25% per month. We switched to British Gas first and were with them for less than a year before we were alerted to better deals elsewhere and then switched to Octopus who can't use the smart meters so you need to read the meters once a month.

I’ve switched with them, I switch every year though. I’ve had a smart meter for 5 years and never had a problem switching.

That’s great, thanks so much for the info Smile

The smart meter may go dumb when you switch. Doesn't matter, just send monthly readings.

Do you have gas ? If so you should use same supplier for both.

Set the energy switch site to show you savings against your current tariff. There wont be any as prices go up 10% a year, but at least you won't get the lie of the ofgem model. Compare unit prices and standing charges with a spreadsheet.
