Hamgate?

Wolfcub · 20/01/2018 12:31

Dh and ds ate the ham for ds’s packed lunch next week Fluffy. I am quite cross with dh about it

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/01/2018 12:51

Oh I remember. I'd quite like a meat slicer, then I could cook gammon joints & slice them into ham like on the deli. It would be so much cheaper than the supermarket ham.

Frugal win on the soup maker Cag. I love soup & home made wholemeal bread.

Wreck Sausage rolls aren't needed, a focused administrator who is cheerful will endear you to them. I bet some of them feel guilty taking them off you too.

Cagliostro · 20/01/2018 12:54

I am quite looking forward to a coat :) my current one is quite warm but really worn and has lots of holes, I look a right scruff 😳😂

Stuck in bed so far today, feel really washed out. DH is contrite having been disorganised and forgetting a snack/drink for dancing today. I did ask him for a smoothie though so I’m not innocent myself!

I have presents to wrap and will do the forms too. Need to find an envelope as well. Can’t really stand up though as super wobbly. We were supposed to go out today. Hmmph

It's my colleague who I work alongside I get the sausage rolls Grin I bake for the office though.

WreckTangled · 20/01/2018 13:06

Apparently WreckCat likes climbing ladders

cag some nice waterproof coats in the Seasalt sale Smile

ememem84 · 20/01/2018 13:51

i am up and out of bed. some of HFW's sweet potato and orange soup for lunch. how tasty is that? so nice. a bit of an odd flavour, but a comforting familiar one.

I suspect HFW would describe it as unctious. Or superbly splendid for chilly days. perfect for winter picnics by the river. (incidentally i haven't had a winter picnic for ages! next sunny day i must suggest this to DH - flask of soup and hot chicken and cheese toasties - cooked at home and kept warm in paper, bubble wrap and a tupperware.

ememem84 · 20/01/2018 13:53

have spent the morning in a bit of a lemsip haze. but have sent a lot of emails in respect of houses to view next week. can't remember for the life of me which ones i've asked to view...but once the responses come back i can start arranging my week.

annoyingly a couple are already under offer despite only going on market and having their first viewings today. sigh.

things are moving so so quickly here, which bodes well for us. but its just annoying that most places are being snapped up by investors and then rented out.

Two week meal plan

mammymammyIRL · 20/01/2018 14:47

Dds play date cancelled because dd has a fever, temp is now under control with meds & she also puked up after dh insisting she ate something, I was just letting her be & if she felt up to eating she could tell me.
I've dropped ds off at his friends & gone on to Aldi to do rest of shopping. Dd needs to sleep and she'll do that better with house empty.

TheUglyFive · 20/01/2018 14:53

Just coming into say Hi as someone very kindly directed me here (I think it's here and I am in the right place) after my thread in AIBU about budgeting and cooking from scratch!

Loveabaconsandwich · 20/01/2018 16:00

Welcome theuglyfive

Lots of helpful hints here and a fair bit of chat too

NSD

I have done an Ocado order for Monday but that won’t cost anything until then

Still suffering from my cold, hope em isn’t suffering from a variant of it. It’s nasty. I have just woken up from a nap on the sofa while the DDs have played/bickered in the background.

I must head to our outside freezer and see if I can meal plan. I’d then like to replace with some more batch cooking. Not sure if I can move off the sofa right now

Yes cag a good coat is really a requirement for you. I also now wouldn’t be without my ugg boots for cold days waiting around at the station/playground. I am very grateful to need who enabled the bargain purchase of these boots

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/01/2018 16:10

Hello five. Haven't seen your thread but sounds about right.

Nsd Thursday, dh did Aldi and Iceland Friday budgeted for. No other spends. Today was going so well. oT at work. Then ds feel on the ice and knocked himself out. £4 parking and £6.25 lunch as I dashed straight from work.
Sledging this afternoon, trying a new pizza place for tea. Still need sainsbury tomorrow

mammymammyIRL · 20/01/2018 16:13

Eek well over budget in grocery category this week €44.51 to be precise
Lidl €1.75 nappies are half price there & town I went to Aldi & Lidl are opposite each other Grin

Aldi €119.58
Some things will be moved out of grocery category like a beautiful cross stitch set for €3.99 I will do this for my db's baby and a couple of sticker books for dc.
Baby bedtime bath was reduced to 59c so bought a few, baby shampoo also 59c, multipack baby wipes for dh for work, dishwasher tabs, stain remover spray, high protein granola x 2, kettle descaler none of which were on the list but were at back of my mind

I've never separated groceries and cleaning type supplies before maybe I should & do one shop for these a month.
Think it'll be back to SuperValu for me next week Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/01/2018 16:16

Oh and £30 deisel

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/01/2018 16:16

And £8.50 on whey protein

mammymammyIRL · 20/01/2018 16:20

Posted too soon I've a code for €17.50 off €150 spent in SuperValu next week plus free delivery, they also gave me one for €5 off €25 doubt they can be used together
We've been short of nothing past few weeks spending €150 in SuperValu & this week we've spent €205 because of using two supermarkets & that didn't included meats for dinner at all AngryConfused

Welcome theuglyfive

Get well wishes to love & em

mammymammyIRL · 20/01/2018 16:21

Lifelong Aldi's new protein cereal has 12g protein per serving & they're doing new quark & fruit pots too Grin

WreckTangled · 20/01/2018 16:23

£20 on a third hand coffee table. I love it! Would show you but I'm not allowed to add anymore photos Angry

mammymammyIRL · 20/01/2018 16:28

Look forward to pic tomo Wreck
Wreckcar is very clever climbing ladder!

LonelyOversharer · 20/01/2018 16:39

Ugh, I am knackered. We did a lot today, moved 6 full sheets of mdf and 2.5 sheets of slat wall (stupidly heavy) from shop to home. Moved some timber, filled car and did a tip run. Dropped off a bike (£55 today, better than when the shop was bloody open). Picked up the kids, bickering, from my parents. Home now and I am in bed for a bit. My whole body aches, and I'm coughing up lumps of gunk. I need to scratch behind my ear drums.

£16 in sainsburys, lunch, bits and dog food to tide over a few days.

wreck I love your cat. He's just sitting on that ladder going, "yes, and what do you want?" How does a cat that that size even climb a ladder?

My two middle girls are fighting like cats. I haven't the energy to sort them out, dp is hiding in the shed. Sigh.

Wolfcub · 20/01/2018 16:49

Welcome five
cag I’m interested in what games you’re playing. We are a gaming household and we’re okaying Manhattan project this afternoon
Hair was £41 with tip and I spent 2.50 in Sainsbury’s replacing the cheese which I discovered dh and ds had eaten (spot the theme of the day) and which is needed for tonight’s dinner.
Received an annoying text from a cc company to say that a good rate is ending and we’re going onto a bad one. Grr. But on the plus side whilst I don’t know what the minimum payment will be yet I have done some calculations and I’m pretty sure that the money moving and budgeting I’ve done since just before Christmas means that this will be maneagable it just means we need to tighten our belts a little

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 20/01/2018 17:05

Oh dear Life was your ds o.kay?

Hope all of you that are poorly get well soon Flowers

My cats have decided that after nearly 4 years of living together they want to kill each other Hmm boycat is being particularly aggressive and biting girlcat every time she gets close enough!!! Ffs they are worse than kids!!

Busy day so far today, dd had riding this morning and been in town this afternoon. I had a haircut, first one in about 6 months at least and I had a £10 off voucher so was only £27 which I thought was a bargain tbh. Have had loads chopped off and it looks lovely.

Other spends were £12 of my nieces bday present, £15 in Accessorise got myself some sunglasses that were half price and two gifts that were 70% off for some bdays coming up and £6 in Aldi on a few bits.

I now have nothing in the bank until payday next Friday... should be fine as have enough food, petrol and have £10 cash for emergencies if needed.

Annoyingly my heating doesn't appear to be working properly I can get it to work by overriding it but its not working how its meant to iyswim. Does anyone to the British Gas Homestart thing? Am wondering if I should sign up....

TheUglyFive · 20/01/2018 17:20

Thank you everyone who has said Hi.

I am completely new to anything to do with money, saving money, frugality. I have a mental health condition which causes me to lose time (dissociation) and I tend to lose a lot of money through this - I am constantly broke, although I do work. I've figured if I can limit my shopping to twenty pounds each month, pay my rent and try and put the rest with someone where I can't touch it then I am less likely to end up in horrible debt (which is what I am frightened of). I need to also save up for a room deposit.

I just did my first weekly shop and have got the following:

1 Morrisons Root Ginger £0.62
1 Morrisons Tomato Puree £0.40
1 M savers Chopped Tomatoes in Tomato Juice £0.30
1 M savers Porridge Oats £0.75
1 M savers Ready to Eat Prunes £1.25
1 KTC Red Lentils £3.74
1 Mekong Rice Vermicelli £1.47
1 Clarence Court Burford Brown Free Range Eggs £2.00
1 Morrisons Baby Corn £0.74
1 Morrisons Closed Cup Mushrooms £0.63
1 Morrisons Garlic Net £0.55
1 Morrisons Mixed Chillies £0.50
1 Morrisons Salad Peppers £0.63
1 Morrisons Sliced British Lamb Liver £1.56
1 Morrisons Tangerines £1.45
1 Morrisons Whole Mackerel - Gutted £1.07
1 Morrisons Wonky Vegetables Selection Box £3.00

Someone else was doing a delivery so I didn't have to pay for the delivery fee. It made it a bit easier to add it up on the screen but it has taken me all afternoon to get it right and enough for the entire week. I think I should have maybe got some apples or bananas. In fact, I did mean to get bananas, ooops. I've just messed up half my breakfasts for the week by forgetting those.

Feel a bit stalkerish but reading through all you old threads - so much information - thank you!
