Frazzled
I think you have made a really good point there about veg boxes -it does stop you needing to "pop out" and although its more money it saves you time and money plus its a good way to reset your spending habits.
I loved A&C Sad
Seacow thats is lovely .

needastrongone · 20/01/2018 09:18

Oh fluffster, I'm on £50 of Nectar points already. Using the card for everything I spend x

My soup has all gone already, kids have been eating if when coming in from school, better than crap food though.

Dh has brought me a pain chocolat tea and an apple and also a vitamin c drink. Hoping I can shake this off soon.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/01/2018 09:32

Well done Need, did the water board get back to you?.

QuiteCleanBandit · 20/01/2018 09:37

Lonely
Can you work out how much you use in a month?
I buy all pet/chicken feed/supplies at the beginning of the month online so it is delivered and is much cheaper.
Obvs you need storage area to do that-mine goes into mouse proof bins and we DH tops up from there.
My chickens are laying -10 eggs from 15 hens yesterday 😂😂😂
The bantams stopped but have started again.
I had to get a large fox proof run a few years ago or give up due to foxes essentially. It has concrete floor /hard roof and bite proof thick wire.
Chooks are staying in over the winter and have Dengie Fresh Bed on the floir which smells lively and herbal. They go nuts for it,nibbling bits and dust bathing in it.
They are dry and sheltered and the outside orchard area is rested over winter .
DH cleans run weekly .
They are super happy and in great condition.
Not surprised bird flu restrictions are in place again Sad our set up makes it easy to manage though.

Bought these in khaki last year for €20 & they're so comfortable & go with everything, they're my go to boots. These are €30 but it's still Jan & I'm not spending so going to wait until Feb & hope they'll be reduced more. I buy a pair of boots every year in Greeneshoes sale

Angry I have just discovered that dh and ds have eaten the meat for ds’s school trip lunch next week. All carefully planned because I am away and dh is away and will only have time to make a sandwich not buy the stuff for one. He’d made a big bloody fuss about making sure there was food in for packed lunches and now can’t understand why I am pissed off. Good job I checked the fridge really. £43 spent last night on dinner and drinks with friends, it was definitely worth it but my head is a little tender today

Cagliostro · 20/01/2018 09:55

That’s pretty much my approach lonely I know I’ll need to get baby stuff, the kids keep growing etc so spends are gonna happen. Just trying to be really mindful of what I’m spending and particularly be more organised so I don’t spend needlessly. Can’t believe how much I’ve saved so far this year, coupled with my Christmas money from dad the account is looking very healthy.

I really need to sort out getting a coat. My mum brought one up that’s too small for her but she’s much shorter than me and the sleeves aren’t long enough. In days gone by I’d have just used it anyway but I would really like something I feel great in. I don’t often spend on clothes for myself TBH. I saw something the other day that said the average family spends £100 a month on clothing, there is absolutely no way we go anywhere near that. So I think, dare I say it, I deserve a nice coat, right?!

Wolf
Thats annoying -in similar circumstances they would have to make do with jam/marmite .They soon got the message Wink

QuiteCleanBandit · 20/01/2018 09:58

If you are out and about Cag waiting for buses etc then a decent warm, waterproif coat is essential.
I spend big on coats and boots and it really is worth it .

ememem84 · 20/01/2018 10:00

Absolutely cag. Buy a decent coat.

SnugglySnerd · 20/01/2018 10:01

Placemarking. Can't keep up!

Wolfcub · 20/01/2018 10:11

I definitely agree On buying a decent coat. I spend a lot of time on trains/at stations and watching ds play rugby. It’s freezing. I have often in the past asked my parents for a decent coat for Christmas. I bought myself one last year but shopped around and got the best deal, went and picked it up at the warehouse myself. I wear it daily and it will still be fine next year

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/01/2018 10:14

Cag That's your form treat right there, after its done you can look at coats. It will pay for itself in one month or two if free travel.

Dh buys barbours off eBay or north face would be really good.

PollyShelbyLifeCoachServices · 20/01/2018 10:31

NSD! Payday can't get here quick enough....Confused

mammymammyIRL · 20/01/2018 10:32

Dropped my phone in a puddle for seconds it seems ok Hmm

Dh will do boiler, I sent a text asking him to talk me through sorting it out Grin

Dc put their Christmas money into credit union last night €235 between them & are allowed keep coins for spending

I bought €10 saving stamps for them for their holidays out of joint money

Definitely invest in a coat cag you do a lot of bus hopping/waiting at stops & trips

mammymammyIRL · 20/01/2018 10:33

6 eggs from 8 hens think that's two days worth but it's an improvement Grin

AuditAngel · 20/01/2018 11:18

Ok, have had a couple of busy days.

Thursday NSD, Friday lunch £6.50, today (so far) £6.30 in the baker son rolls for lunch and toast tomorrow.

I need to fix DD1's drawers today, and tidy their room. I also need to get all the Christmas boxes up into the loft.

DH managed to lose his wallet yesterday in Spain, big panic to get him all his card numbers for him to cancel them.

WreckTangled · 20/01/2018 11:37

Laska there's definitely some truth in it. I bake for people at work and buy my colleagues sausage rolls when I pop into the garage because I want them to like me. They call me a feeder. I also can't bear to leave food on my plate but then again my step dad used to hold my nose to force feed me Hmm

Need we LOVE going to the theatre but you're right it's so expensive! Such a shame we literally can't afford even the shit seats Grin

Wolf that's so annoying! The sort of thing my dh would do. I don't want him to have to ask permission before he eats something but I'm the one who meal plans so he needs to bloody check or let me know if there's anything specific he wants in the shopping Angry

Cag I love coats! My favourite for this weather is a nice fat face one. It's got loads of pockets, a two way zip and a hood etc. I love it. Also love my Joules one and my oasis one and my hollister one and...you get the picture WinkBlushGrin

Forgot a few bits shopping but will try to make do. Accidentally bought loads of potatoes. I don't have a sack but have used the paper carriers the veg come in and put them all in there and will take them to the shed, do you think that'll be ok?

£105 Tesco which is two weeks worth apart from fresh stuff.
£12 McDonald's breakfast
£40 diesel.
Oh

WreckTangled · 20/01/2018 11:38

Don't know where the random 'oh' at the bottom of my post came from!

Going to do some more baking later the JO flapjack biscuit things are perfect for lunch boxes and after school snacks.

LonelyOversharer · 20/01/2018 11:41

cag go buy a coat. After you have sent off tge bus form! Yy you totally deserve and need sonething warm and waterproof! As usual fluffy is right, how many bus trips will a coat cost??

Have painted my craft room, just first coat. It will need 3 probably. Swept out dp's new bit of shed (well half of it, it filled 2 binbags though - did I mention he was messy?), and we're off to move the big boards in a moment.

Other than dog food, I'm hoping not to spend much today, to offset yesterdays trip up into Dunelm.

LonelyOversharer · 20/01/2018 11:43

Perfect wreck as long as they are out of light (paper bags are best), and you're not prone to mice!

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/01/2018 12:00

Lonely No one EVER says that in rl.

Wolfcub · 20/01/2018 12:03

30.11 in Lidl I blame DH and hamgate. Will also be spending £40 at the hairdresser later.
