I want an Aldi! or a Lidl

Riding £27. Booked for a hack on Wednesday morning too. Woop.

We were going to go for a walk but dh is tired and I have stuff to get on with so not bothered about this. The walk would have involved lunch out too.

Homemade pizza for tea. Yippee.

Picked up the sleeping bags for ds. They’re from a friend of my sisters. Good lord I’ve never been in such a cluttered house. Every surface had something on it. She showed me into her “baby selling room” (conservatory). Floor to ceiling boxes. Of baby stuff. Holy. Moly. She claims because she had a girl then a boy she “had to” buy everything Again.

ememem84 · 13/01/2018 14:23

snuggly I love that egg recipe. Great for Sunday brunch.

Wolfcub · 13/01/2018 15:07

21.50 for farm shop bits. 12 Sainsbury’s including freezer bags for the farm shop chicken. 15 for wrapping paper cards and bits for neices. Just about to separate and freeze chicken, may cook or marinate some of it and see how many meals I end up with

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/01/2018 15:08

If she has a third I hope it's a boy 🙄

Making pate & bread today. So that's breakfast sorted for next week.

Wolfcub · 13/01/2018 15:59

I’ve frozen 5 breasts, 1 bag of 10 mini fillets, 1 bag of chicken strips (for stir fry or fajitas) and one bag of chicken chunks (for pie or casserole type things) so that’s three meals worth for three people and two meals worth for two. I don’t think that’s too bad for 11.99

QuiteCleanBandit · 13/01/2018 16:11

Wreck
Agree -Its so much cheaper and I really cant see any difference in quality .
Also washing up liquid is better and half the price !

QuiteCleanBandit · 13/01/2018 16:19

Have you been on the pram threads em
They are bonkers -100 prams Shock
We have nearly every supermarket including Aldi, Lidl ,Waitrose plus the usual plus several farm shops and 3 markets within driving distance .
Love Lidl for the crusty rolls and blueberry muffins

WreckTangled · 13/01/2018 16:24

You're lucky quite we're 15 miles away from
Aldi and Lidl and our nearest Asda is 20 miles away. Big Tesco also 15 miles away but we have a medium one 5 miles away. Not as bad off as em though WinkGrin

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 13/01/2018 16:25

thanks fluffy for the hair recommendations and meadow and seacow and lovely others for period sympathy Flowers
Trying to get DH to apply for a promotion but he is utterly lacking in ambition (has already refused promotion more than once when offered) and resistant to change. Would be nice to have more money coming in in case I do get pregnant.

needastrongone · 13/01/2018 16:55

I've not tried the flatbread recipe, but I shall now. Funny, some recipes pass you by don't they?

The kitchen was pretty much the main factor in buying the house, it's got an area with loads of chairs scattered around where folk lounge as I cook. And one of the reasons I would struggle to leave too.

I've got more time anyway as the DC are older, standards were obviously lower when they were little.

Aldi and Lidl, just think you need to know what to buy where don't you? There's some amazing stuff and some not so amazing stuff too.

I've made a quick soup with a couple of leeks and parsnips that needed using. It's not brilliant but will be okay for lunches.

LonelyOversharer · 13/01/2018 17:02

Here you go guys, for balance!

need I think we fall at different ends of the scale!!!

Oh, and the other side is worse!

I have had such a lovely day out shopping with dd1. It's her birthday tomorrow. Will tally spends up in a bit, but it was a bit more than I had sort of planned for. Hey ho. She picked a very pretty watch, not something I'd have ever gone for, so I'm glad I let her choose (and £100 under top end budget, good girl).

ememem84 · 13/01/2018 17:18

lonely wow.

This is us. I’m stood in the dining room area of our living room. Look at my lovely Kilner jar collection. Only a few more until I reach peak wanky kitchen storage.

I’ve taken two huge bags of cardboard to the recycling and dropped three bags off at the charity shop. Now folding laundry.

In my sort out yesterday I found three packs of cotton wool pads and two bags of cotton wool. We’re using cheeky wipes for ds’ baths now (can’t quite bring myself to use them to wipe his bum during nappy changes yet). I bought loads to take my make up off with as was sick of wipes so have split them out. Pink/purple for my face, yellow for ds’ baths and blue/green for wiping down the kitchen. Will use the cotton wool for my face. I don’t like it but waste not.

I took our Christmas decorations back to dparents today too. Dm showed me the wardrobe in my old room. Apparently we have a ton of stuff stored there too. Bugger.

Will have to have a serious sort out once we have a place to move to.

Ds is going to sleep in his cot tonight. We’ve agreed it. Or rather I asked him with a huge smile on my face. He grinned at me and I held his hand and shook it. Formal binding contract. Wink well see how that goes. I’ll probably sleep on the room with him though.

He’s done day naps in there never a night time. Wish us luck.

lonely I am just going to go and lie down in a darkened room with a large glass of neat vodka for a while........ShockShockShockShockGrin

I'm glad you are okay though, btw xx

needastrongone · 13/01/2018 17:21

em we had the same cupboards at our old house!!! Timeless shaker style always winsSmile

WreckTangled · 13/01/2018 17:34

Oh wow lonely Shock

I made macaroni cheese for dinner and it was amazing. The dc didn't like it. Natch.

Wolfcub · 13/01/2018 17:43

Frugal toad in the hole in the oven. For anyone needing to save some pennies on meaty products or those with big appetites this is a great one. It’s a good food recipe from their saver Sunday lunch series a few years ago but basically you make up some stuffing mix, reducing the amount of water and using beef stock and put the stuffing balls in the toad with the sausages, much more filling so stretches a smaller pack of sausages around more people for pennies.

Wolfcub · 13/01/2018 17:44

Lonely I think your kitchen looks like Allegra McEvedy’s

ememem84 · 13/01/2018 17:46

I’ve just also emptied the drawer in my nightstand. Found: a £50 voucher for our fave restaurant which dparents gave us for our anniversary - must use this!

€30 - will change back as no plans to go to France anytime soon

And a couple of £1 notes. So those are for spends in the week. Woop.

Dh is starting to get fed up of my decluttering. I suppose I’m doing the Marie kondo method of a drawer at a time. But am being ruthless. Use it or lose it. Binned another bag. Mostly packaging for stuff.

Am looking forward to getting ds in his room. Once he’s settled in there we can get rid of the Moses basket. Which is a pain as it sits in front of my wardrobe so have to shift it out of the way every day. Sigh.

AuditAngel · 13/01/2018 17:53

I'm still prevaricating over the food shop!

Today £2 parking in Windsor, £13.90 in the sweet shop, but that included £8 for a birthday gift for DD1's friend. £6.90 in the cake shop, bacon roll for DD1 and cherry slice for DD2. £7.90 in the bakers for fresh rolls, plus a sausage roll for me.

£40 on haircuts for 3DC and for me. I had about 6 inches cut off

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/01/2018 18:07

You'd need the bottle if you saw me prepping with a cat perched on the counter Need

WreckTangled · 13/01/2018 18:12

Haha fluffy my cat uses the worktop as a longer too Blush

Audit love the hair.

My kitchen is more cluttered than I would like right now but I'm the only one who ever tidied it. Dh just piles stuff up. I have just made dinner though so it needs tidying after that

LonelyOversharer · 13/01/2018 18:13

Sorry need and wreck !!! I know it's a bit much. Lovely roast chicken for tea (dp put it on while we were out). I long to be a lot more tidy, but. I don't even know what follows that but, hence the problem!

audit your hair looks lovely.

I'm beginning to think I need to brave it and get mine cut soon, you know, like a grown up. And I want to use the dye I bought last year to dye out my greys, which are many.

Bornlazy · 13/01/2018 18:18

I badly need a new kitchen as my cupboard space is totally insufficient or maybe I have too much crap but I think I will always have some things out on the worktops like my kettle, toaster and breadbin for convenience.

I don't like clutter but unfortunately seem to attract it... 2018 is the year I aim to be clutter free!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/01/2018 18:21

Wolf That does sound filling. You can make the stuffing too using any stale bread frozen and made into bread crumbs.

I hate throwing bread away.
