I’m scared to do this in case of hacking, lack of security etc - but do I just not understand the magic of ynab? Any tips appreciated.

I didn't think we could do this in the uk - it was just for the us only?

giddyupnow · 02/01/2018 19:00

Oh I see, I sort of thought you had to? How do you use it then?

I don't believe it's possible in the UK but to be honest it doesn't bother me because I wouldn't want to link directly anyway

We use it here. I try to enter each transaction via the app on my phone as I make it, and all our regular payments and utilities are set up to recur each month. All I need to do then is approve them. I log into my bank every day or so to make sure they match.

DH keeps all his receipts and enters them every 7-10 days. He’s a work in progress! But it has revolutionised how we manage our money and we love it.

I enter them manually as soon as they’re made. Even if they offered automatic upload I’d be waiting 2-3 days for them to appear which is annoying as the your budget isn’t up to date.

I enter a transaction on my app as soon as I spend the money

My DH has found a workaround whereby we download a csv copy of our bank statement, make some adjustments and then import into YNAB - it picks up on the stuff that wasn't logged via the app. We are trying to save money so at the moment 30% of income goes into savings, 10% to charity and the we go through and allocate the rest!
