Bought £50 diesel and nothing else.
Took cheques into bank.
Will need to spend on car tax, swimming lessons for DS and a birthday present for DH. And need to take my garage for work so will probably still spend a lot this month. All the more reason to be good I suppose.

MsDeerheart · 03/01/2018 18:18

So went to town with kids and parked a bit of a walk around but didn't have to pay for parking - however ended up going for coffee and cake £15 eek - then needed petrol - just put £20 in though and have to put a bit of money on DS1 for dinner money

elvislives2012 · 03/01/2018 19:28

Forgive me NSDers for I have sinned. I broke my Yankee candle melt let thingy ☹️ so I needed anew one as I need the lovely smell in my life! That's it though....

PavlovaPlease · 03/01/2018 19:33

Day 3 and not a sausage spent. 28 to go...

MessySurfaces · 03/01/2018 19:34

Proper NSD for me- I tried to put money on the gas meter but the machine was broken, so that was that!
I'm debating skipping this week's grocery delivery and making the Xmas bounty last another week, for bonus savings.

LynetteScavo · 03/01/2018 20:16

So far I've had to buy 2 birthday presents, ordered flea drops for the cats (both unavoidable) and went to look at things in Ikea...and spent £11. Oh, and I've also ordered a vegan cookbook as DS1 announced on 1st S January he is now vegan. And £30 of paint and sandpaper as he wants to paint his bedroom after years of me wanting to do it, and him refusing.

It seems I am crap at not spending money.

dementedma · 03/01/2018 20:19

NSD - all good

AdoraBell · 03/01/2018 20:24

Messy I did that last week. If you can feed everyone on the Christmas bounty then go ahead and save the money 👍

hollytom · 03/01/2018 20:27

Was hoping for NSD but needed milk and a couple of other food items so £9 spent. Looked in food cupboards made lunch and evening meal from store cupboard items I am going to try to do this as much as possible as the freezers are full. Going to try to cut down on meat as well as my dd has gone veggie and will be cheaper if we all eat a bit less meat. Not so easy to persuade my carnivorous ds though..

Rainybohoho · 03/01/2018 20:31

3 NSDs for me! I will have to buy some fresh food tomorrow though, unless I can pair enchiladas with Christmas chocolate instead of salad?

calzone · 03/01/2018 21:08

Food shopping in Aldi today.

I ignored the middle aisles and concentrated on what I needed.

drspouse · 03/01/2018 21:39

Hooray! There are almost enough kids ski clothes that fit. DD needs a few pairs of long johns and DS needs a hat.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 03/01/2018 21:53

yesterday was a NSD for me. Today was grocery day and I had to put £10 in the electric meter too. So I’m in for £59.76 altogether including electric, pants for DS2 (desperately needed!) dog and cat food and toothpaste.

newsparklythings · 03/01/2018 22:00

First NSD woohoo!

GreenTulips · 03/01/2018 23:34

Did really well today only spent £2 for DD bus fare (it's raining and I couldn't give her a lift today so saved on petrol)
Have purchased 2 pairs of glasses for me and DS but these were expected and essential

Tomorrow DS needs a haircut .... does that count?

champagneplanet · 04/01/2018 00:43

Day 3 is the first day i've spent anything. Until today I hadn't left the house since NYE! Went to DDs swimming lesson (prepaid) and spent £1.60 on two (vile) coffees for DH and I. Then popped to Asda for bread, milk etc, used my christmas savings card for that but then spotted the sale rail Blush.

Spent £15 on some reduced outfits for BILs baby which is due in a few weeks, i'd have had to buy stuff anyway but got over £30 worth of stuff so i consider that money well spent.

Going into work for a KIT day tomorrow so will take lunch with me and get dropped off so no parking to pay for Halo

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 04/01/2018 08:29

Day 3 was a spend day. Went shopping for DH and DM birthday presents.
Failed miserably on getting much for DH. He has everything and doesn't really need anything. I did get him a book and some chocolates so he has a couple of presents to open.
My DM is tricky. My Grandad died last year on her birthday so understandably she's not wanting to celebrate. I have got her a book that she wants and I'm thinking about a rose bush too. My Grandad loved roses and I'm wondering if I can get one that would be in memory of him.
I also got a coffee whilst out and the lady who served me gave DD a free gingerbread man! She was very pleased with her treat!

Today will be a spend day too, but it's a food shop so need to stick to the list!

twinkledag · 04/01/2018 08:50

@Itis6oclocksomewhere - the rose bush is a lovely idea Flowers

My purchase in GAP yesterday were:

2 x jumpers for DS in next size up. £8 each down from £25
A top and leggings for newborn baby - £4 for both down from £16
2 x tops for friend's children's bdays which are next month. £10 for both. Will return one of these as remembered I can give the younger one something I have already. Will save myself £5 Grin
Then 2 totally frivolous purchases of a jacket that was £13 down from £50 and a cute nightdress which was £6 down from £20.

At those prices you can see how hard it was for me to resist, right? Wink

FaithEverPresent · 04/01/2018 11:26

twinkle I’m not going into town so that I resist sales! We have a Gap outlet where I shop a lot!

I’ve spent £9 on the birthday gifts for DD friend so I need a card from home or cheaply to stay in budget for this week!

A rose bush is a lovely idea Itis6oclocksomewhere.

drspouse · 04/01/2018 11:33

SNAFU with my DN's presents that got sent back to us - now DN1 is over here for a bit so I will keep her present till we see her but I really need to send DN2 something from Amazon poor lass. I was going to send her a voucher anyway for Three Kings as they celebrate it so will have to get that today.

Refund on some tights for DD that I bought off FB but the seller has lost them so I will have to send DH to get some along with her base layers for skiing as she is desperate having grown out of everything.

drspouse · 04/01/2018 11:35

(I'm a bit rubbish at this "no spend" but I am kind of sticking to my principles:
Buy stuff you need/that has worn out/that the DC have grown out of - not just because it's nice.
Buy used if you can.
Make it if you can).

PollyShelbyLifeCoachServices · 04/01/2018 12:23

NSD, full of cold and weathers rubbish so we are snuggled up inside. The ball is rolling now! We'll done everyone this thread is great to read. Tomorrow is a walk on the beach if we feel better/the weather permits and coffee at a friends. Need some food bits for the weekend but aiming for a low spend day.

Gah81 · 04/01/2018 14:37

This thread is definitely helping maintain my discipline.

Bought a birthday present for my mother today but no other spending.

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 04/01/2018 15:14

Thank you Twinkledag and FaithEverPresent.

Did a food shop and I stayed away from all the things I don't need. Hopefully my waistline will see an improvement too!

grannycake · 04/01/2018 16:10

Breast screen today so I had to pay £3 parking. Otherwise no spends for 2 days now. Will do food shop tomorrow. I have a list and will avoid centre aisles in Aldi
