I’ve used the new lattes I purchased from Aldi and sainsbury- we sat this afternoon at home and had a couple of cookies and two latties

I had kenco latte and it was as nice as a coffee out, dd2 had an Aldi own latte and the cookies were 65 p for 5 reduced Friday night - latte less than 50p for 2. We do have 3 cookies left 😂

Messy haha!

mamapants · 07/01/2018 21:38

That ham hock recipe looks lovely ivy here's hoping for leeks in my veg box next week.
I have been through my bank direct debits and I really must be spending on random crap as should be able to save each month. So hopefully this month will give me lasting no spend habits!

twinkledag · 07/01/2018 22:05

Dinner out was £30 last night.

Today me, DS & DH treated ourselves to coffee. I'm happy to do this once a week.

Supermarket shop done. Didn't have to pay for parking as it's free on Sunday.

Lunches prepped for tomorrow.

Grin

Well done everyone so far!

Ghost - £40 seemed good to me - 6 large cod and 4 chips & mushy peas that fed 4 adults and 2 (hungry) kids but perhaps my spending thresholds need resetting! I'm also planning to continue past Jan - to be more mindful when spending and to get on top of some credit card balances that have crept up.

Minimal spend over the weekend. Used canapes we had in the freezer from Christmas for the party we went to and only spend £6 on protective covers for the kids new Kindles - well worth it to stop them getting damaged.

I have also advertised a few bits on gumtree/facebook to sell and installed Yolt, a free app to monitor spending and bank accounts.

dementedma · 08/01/2018 14:38

lunch in work was home made soup and home made soda bread so no spends there. Had to take out a dental plan though at £10 a month but this is pre-emptive as my bridge (front teeth) definitely needs to be replaced this year so this will be a cheaper way of doing it than waiting until it snaps. (and less stressful)

hollytom · 08/01/2018 16:05

Good start to the week with a NSD. Planning for at least 3 this week maybe 4

mamapants · 08/01/2018 16:14

Spent £18 yesterday on top up shop and & 12 today.
Paid £1 parking for an appointment and that's it for today.
Tomorrow I need to pick up something for dinner and sausages for weds. Hmm I'm clearly not very good at top up shopping, three days, three trips d'oh

PavlovaPlease · 08/01/2018 17:00

NSD - 1 of the 4 I'm aiming for this week.

grannycake · 08/01/2018 17:16

NSD again today. Took sandwich/fruit for lunch and made green tea from my office supplies. Hoping to get to Friday with no spends except fuel

PollyShelbyLifeCoachServices · 08/01/2018 17:37

LSD £10 in top up shop and parking for a friend who is lovely and treated my girls to a fantastic day out. NSD tomorrow, back to work and school.

BrownLiverSpot · 08/01/2018 17:46

Can I join you? I've got some debts I need to get rid of and would like to start saving a bit for a rainy day. My spending is already quite thrifty but need to rein in my DH's spending, not sure how to do that exactly.

Foureyedfox · 08/01/2018 17:52

This thread is very inspiring! Some great non-spending going onSmile

I kind of managed not to spend over the weekend, just a £5 haircut for the smallest and £20 for fuel, so nothing we didn’t need.
School lunch money today (£11.50)

Its my DD birthday soon, planning to have a party at home to save as much as possible. Really can’t afford to do much else, but I’m hoping she’ll have fun regardless.

I’m finding using cash instead of my card is helping me to be more organised and efficient too, instead of faffing about at the cash machine when I need cash for school.

twinkledag · 08/01/2018 19:14

A NSD for me today! Took breakfast and lunch to work with me and had coffee out of the work coffee machine.

ivykaty44 · 08/01/2018 19:22

NSD 8 ⭐️ I’m really pleased & was having such a hard day I nearly buckled and went for a coffee in my favourite coffee shop - but I didn’t.....

I still have unspent cash in my purse left over from a cash withdrawal before the new year, some was spent on shopping last Friday

MessySurfaces · 08/01/2018 19:45

Hmph, had to pay for a child's passport renewal today, and to post back some things my cousin left behind at my house over Christmas. So both rather virtuous, but it's still not an NSD!

I've got cash in my purse from last year too, just over £15, so hoping to make it last the month for trivial spends. I should have used it for that parcel, ho hum.
A mate paid me back some cash the other day which I should probably squirrel away until February so it doesn't get spent, and I stick to the £15!

champagneplanet · 08/01/2018 19:54

Good day here, DD1 back to school so all i've bought is 4 pints of milk on the school run this afternoon, walked as well with DD2 in the buggy to get some fresh air instead of driving Halo

Going into work tomorrow for a meeting but the boss is buying me lunch so hopefully a NSD.

PollyShelbyLifeCoachServices · 08/01/2018 20:02

Awh just read through the thread, Thanks to all the lovely posters that my gas, Elec and food don't count! There won't be much else now my bank account has £20 in to go with the rest of my income of £138 to see me the 25th Jan- payday😍

PollyShelbyLifeCoachServices · 08/01/2018 20:06

And yes i did do £10 gas, £10 elec...today

Gah81 · 09/01/2018 06:46

Well done ivykaty! Did ok yesterday, today I have to buy some cat food as stocks are low.

Am taking breakfast, lunch and dinner in to work with me today (networking drinks tonight so makes sense to eat something before I head out as who knows what the canapé situation will be!).

BrownLiverSpot · 09/01/2018 13:38

Bought some lunch stuff yesterday which will hopefully see me through the week. NSD for me today apart from paying the weekly commute.

twinkledag · 09/01/2018 17:03

Worked from home so another NSD here!

ivykaty44 · 09/01/2018 18:22

So finally today I used my card to fill up with fuel but that should last me two months as I haven’t been to the garage since November 👍🏻

PollyShelbyLifeCoachServices · 09/01/2018 18:57

NSD..... Hopefully same again tomorrow...

PavlovaPlease · 09/01/2018 19:01

Day 2 nsd. Got some good news that we'd usually celebrate with a takeaway so feeling proud that we're resisting!
