NSD, used an amazon voucher for my book club purchase, A Long Way Home (the new film Lion is based on the book).

100yearsdotcom · 06/11/2017 18:25

Spent £6 on 2 tesco meal deals and £5.90 on toll. Shouldn't have any other spends for the rest of the week other than food shop.

Love the tea towel painting.

Really feel for you snuggly x

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/11/2017 18:55

Snuggly Can you afford one day in a nursery for them all one a week?. I really felt for you when you said they were all crying the other day.

Cags best friend Are you on a pre pay meter for leccy? Are you stuck on that?.

MeadowHay · 06/11/2017 19:09

Been lurking a bit again but forgotten half of what people said now Blush.

Wreck I love the ladder pic, it's cute. I'm another one who adores kids' artwork. I used to love watching them draw in my old volunteering place. I had a little girl draw a picture of me and DH once and we both had crowns on our heads for some reason Grin. It was cute but it was on a whiteboard and she wiped it off before I had a chance to take a pic.

Yesterday was my best HG day so far as I only vomited twice in the whole day, wahoo. Still grim like lol. I have slept this entire day away, I've been awake for about 4 hours in total now I think Sad.

Snuggly You're a bloody hero with the 3, the thought alone makes me terrified Grin !

I was shocked about Strictly too, I thought Aston was one of the best dancers. But I do agree with Em that I like to see the people flourish who have never done dance before, it's not really fair when people like Aston and Debbie pitch up being awesome but they've done loads of dance before. I love Ruth the best just cos I love her. Plus Anton is my fave of the dancers too.

NSD again as usual Grin. Our Iceland shop arrived this morning full of the few things I can stomach like Roundtree's lolly ices and Jacob's cream crackers.

mammymammyIRL · 06/11/2017 19:33

So dh has done the grocery shop two weeks in a row and didn't ask me either time what was needed or check the presses to see what was needed either we've run out completely of pasta & noodles staple diet of mine and the dc. I dread to look further & see what's missing Angryand he spent €158 Grin

SnugglySnerd · 06/11/2017 19:38

They are 8 months namechange. We have gone through a colossal number of nappies today. I ache from all the nappy changes!
I hope I don't grumble too much about them. They are absolutely beautiful and I adore them all. It's exhausting but I wouldn't change it except for the lack of sleep. I think I'm going to see if we could afford for them to start nursery a week before I go back to work so I can plan lessons/buy some work clothes/batch cook/sleep. Otherwise I'll be behind from the start. Also we'll be able to practise a system for getting them all up and out without the pressure of being late for work.

NSD. Yay!

ChristmasSeacow · 06/11/2017 19:41

I agree about Debbie - according to Wikipedia she used to run her own ballet school. I know that's just one discipline but still! I don't think Aston had danced before, other than usual pop nonsense. He wasn't my favourite but always good to watch. My favourite is Susan though and I love Kevin a little bit too

NSD here but a tough day with DD. She is not usually irrationally upset (cries when hungry /tired, can usually be fixed although the solution usually involves holding her...) but today she has hardly slept, won't take much milk, very tearful. No temperature and teeth don't seem to be bothering her so no idea! I think she gets overtired but the school runs sometimes interrupt her long naps so she doesn't 'recharge' properly... and so she gets even more overtired. She's been bloody hard work though. I still haven't had lunch so am on a very short fuse now. Feel bad but I shouted at DS when he was screeching endlessly about wanting something. I never raise my voice at him as it escalates his anxiety but I snapped. Not very proud of myself. Blush

Anyway, DM is coming to hold DD all day tomorrow so I can get some gardening done. The garden is wild. And I still haven't planted my bulbs.

I laughed so much at that tea towel.

Glad you've had a better day Meadow and Flowers for Snuggly, you have all my sympathy. One baby has been extremely testing for me today, imagine what two could do?!

mammymammyIRL · 06/11/2017 19:52

link for free 10 day pack of My Active Iron

LonelyOversharer · 06/11/2017 20:09

Spends £22 b&q on turbo screws. I lost my shit in there and swore outloud infront of a queue of people (that I was holding up) as dp was being childish and a total unhelpful twat chasing ds around and all 3 dd's had wandered off Blush

£29 in MacDonald's the Italian stack is not worth eating btw.

Then £8 to get us into the schools bonfire night thing. £5 on led flashing things. Fireworks ok.

I'm very tired and a bit fed up of today tbh.

Cagliostro · 06/11/2017 20:10

Don't beat yourself up seacow we all snap now and then, it can feel endlessly stressful Thanks

Snuggly how long till you go back now? I think getting them into nursery a week early is a great idea.

DS loves Kevin too. It started a couple of years ago because there is a Minion called Kevin :o but he still loves him. He cried a couple of series back when he was with Kelly and they didn't win. 💕

DD2 seems to be in a routine of being really hard to wake/feed all morning and then wanting really frequent feeds all afternoon/evening. Sigh.

Frugal fun, played a board game with DS tonight :) he's getting used to the new arrival - willingly approaching her and no longer hiding upstairs if she cries - but I figured it is still important to say yes to this stuff to keep life as normal as possible. I love how much he loves games though :o DD1 kept her little sister entertained by doing the Viennese waltz (newest dance she is learning) round the living room :o 💕

MyWhatICallNameChange · 06/11/2017 20:26

Oh snuggly I remember the exhaustion well. And the nappies, so many nappies!

Fluffycloud, yes I'm on a pre-payment meter. Which has made me think I need to get it, and the gas, changed over to my name as it's still in ex-DH's name.

I had to send DS1 to the shop again as I'd forgotten pasta for dinner. And cat food! So a few quid spent today.

Letter from the tax credits about my change of circumstances. It's ending the joint claim, though I don't understand a word of it (nothing new there!) Hopefully I'll get a another one soon saying how much I'll get as a single parent.

100yearsdotcom · 06/11/2017 20:42

Seacow Cake and lots of it x

ememem84 · 06/11/2017 20:59

We spent the afternoon with Fil and I’ve just had a monumental “talk” with dh about mil and his family.

He said that he wants me to make more effort to see them. I have agreed - not that I didn’t anyway- but his point I think is that I need to orchestrate things. Not him. Fuck that shit said I. Why should I make all the effort it’s now turning into “wifework” etc. Explained wifework.

Also had a conversation re mil. No change. I still have issues. Issues that dh won’t adress. I need to get over it. Same old same old.

I did ask dh whether he was bothered that none of his family acknowledged my birthday. I stressed it doesn’t bother me but my mum had asked what they got me as she’s struggling for Bil for his birthday. She was suprised I got nothing. Dh apologised but I said it didn’t matter. He hadnt forgotten my birthday. He said none of his family had forgotten either. (Which sort of makes me want to ask what is it the ...?! But I’m not actually bothered...)

ChristmasSeacow · 06/11/2017 21:02

Aw thanks 100. Am on slimming world so no such luck... however, I made a banging curry from scratch and am finally eating a decent meal. I feel much better, I was definitely hangry earlier!

Seems as though a few of us have had frustrating days Gin

SnugglySnerd · 06/11/2017 21:18

Pleased you are feeling better Seacow. I hope you get some sleep tonight too.

ememem84 · 06/11/2017 22:19

Meal plan for the week done including: roasted chickpea and broccoli burritos, prawn curry, toad in the hole, homemade pizza, courgette “meatballs” sh will do the food shop tomorrow.

Watched blue planet. Yay. And then an episode of only connect.

Dh sulking about our conversation re mil.

Catface and ds in bed with me (well catface is - ds is in his basket).

Doctors for ds and I tomorrow for our 6 week appointment. Hoorah. Confused

Taytocrisps · 06/11/2017 22:33

I've had a very busy midterm break and I was away for a few days. Just catching up with you all.

I spent a while today updating my budget spreadsheet and sorting out payments for various things. I've also booked a hotel room for my friend's wedding in December.

Today's spends were €4.99 on a wedding card (card + postage) for a friend who lives abroad. I ordered it from an Irish website and it has a greeting in English and Irish.

I also spent approx. €6 on a top up shop.

I think mammy and I are married to the same man as I spotted a Lidl receipt for €117. Surely the whole point of Lidl is that you do your shopping for €60? And I'm not quite sure what he spent it on as I don't see any meat in the fridge or freezer.

Sorry so many of you are sleep deprived Sad. Hope those babies settle soon.

Seacow don't be so hard on yourself up over shouting at DS. We all have bad days.

I missed 'Strictly' on Saturday night and was really shocked at the results. Seems like only yesterday that Aston was wowing everyone with his Troll dance.

Cagliostro · 07/11/2017 03:49

I liked Aston for the most part but I really didn't enjoy that troll dance!

DD2 is all snuffly Hmm

thewaitresses · 07/11/2017 04:25

Poor snuffly dd Cag (although newborn snuffles are the cutest!). We’re up at 4am again but this time I’m winning - I got to bed early enough last night that I’m not trying to settle her and sleep myself, I’m just up now and fingers crossed dd is sleeping again and we can crack this. Yesterday was another NSD! (To tired to even buy bread - had pizza and beans instead of beans on toast Grin)

SunnyLikeThursday · 07/11/2017 06:08

I like your word "Wifework" Em. I actually like doing all that stuff which I why I'm a SAHM, but I do run into trouble with it, especially managing the relationships in the extended family, which have become wifework for me. I think the bottom line is that often the ILs don't want to be managed by their daughter-in-law and that makes things tricky.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/11/2017 06:22

Stick to your guns em. You 'managing' mil will make her worse.
Sea don't worry we all have days like that. You too lonely, dinginess you just need to lose your shit to make people see.
Snuggly, today is a new day.
You are all awesome and those I haven't named.

£3 on pannini in the skate park. Other than that just normal Monday fees.
Nsd planned today

SunnyLikeThursday · 07/11/2017 07:32

Can I ask if any of you who have local grandparents have ways of working together that are good? My parents are moving to live near to me after me being far far away for 20 years. I have no idea even how often I'm meant to visit them once they've ten minutes drive away. I wondered what those of you do who find that your relationship is really good?

LillyLollyLandy · 07/11/2017 07:57

Morning all. It’s been a busy few days so I’m trying to catch up!

Managed a No Spend Weekend. Yay! I’ve become a bit obsessive with YNAB again as I want to pay off my credit card this month and i know myself well enough to know that YNAB stalking is the only thing that will keep me on the straight and narrow budget wise.

Met a friend for coffee yesterday, my turn to pay so £4.20 for that. 95p on a panini to go with my homemade soup. Drinking tea on the train this morning from my trusty Contigo flask but ran out of motivation to make a snack/lunch. I’m visiting our regional office today so will treat myself to a yummy sausage baguette as a reward for getting from SE London to Berkshire before 8am. Zzzzz.

Huge sympathy FlowersBrew and Cake for everyone else battling with non-sleeping children. I said to DH last night that I think I may actually die from sleep deprivation. I felt quite spaced out last night when I was putting DD2 to bed which is not good is it?! Thankfully her two bottom teeth (we now have 8 teeth! How many to go? I’ve forgotten) seem to have cut through so she was much more settled last night. She still screeched until she was brought in with us mind you Hmm I will sleep train her over Christmas when I’ve got some time off.

My mind has gone blank and I cannot remember a single thing that I read on this thread before posting sorry Blush hope all frugaleers old and new are doing well!

WreckTangled · 07/11/2017 08:05

Sunny I don’t see my parents that often. I’m always working, they’re always busy. Suits us. Probably only see them when I need baby sitters Grin

Should be a nsd. Dc have their school photos today cue meltdown from ds because he didn’t want to look smart Hmm

Dh being grumpy this morning because he had to leave earlier and rather than ask me to do anything he just ranted to himself about how much he had to do. I ignored him. He was also grumpy that I didn’t get up at the same time as him, my alarm went off 15 mins after his.

Meant to rain today.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2017 08:24

LLL

It would be wonderful to be cc for Christmas.

Sunny Ive been wearing thermals for years, they all look like normal clothes though. No beige items with bows. I love them, I was always cold before. Oestrogens a vaso constrictor. That's why women get chilly while men say it's not cold.

£20 in Amazon vouchers claimed today. Neither has arrived yet.
