Cag is strangely quiet. I wonder what she's up to? Sleeping, if she's lucky.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/10/2017 14:12

Yes the quietness is very worrying.

ChristmasSeacow · 25/10/2017 14:50

I think it's a good sign. Even if it's all straightforward the end of labour, birth and the cleaning up takes a while. And I doubt we are the first people she'd think to tell!

I am refreshing this thread a lot though Wink

ememem84 · 25/10/2017 15:34

Dm dang this morning and for the first time I cried down the phone. She came round and let herself in while I was in the shower. So that was a suprise.

While I was showering, she’d helped herself to the washing up. And had made a cuppa.

She’s also helped me sort out the spare room and organise ds’ stuff. Done a ton of washing has ironed things and then sent me out to do my errands. Leaving her in charge of ds.

I’ve just got back. She’s just left. Ds has been fed and I’m trying to settle him again as I super want a nap.

Stop all the advent calendar enabling....

Christmas this is the thread: To ask how having children affected your career?

I’ve done the link whilst using the app so let me know if it doesn’t work! It is quite depressing reading, be warned. Approx 90% of the women posting have said their careers have been badly affected by having children, mainly through going PT. I think it’s mainly down to women shouldering the bulk of the domestic load, only a handful of women have partners who have gone part time instead or who work flexibly to pull their weight domestically. I’m FT, with a DH who also works FT and plays his part in doing School runs etc but I still feel that I’ve been penalised career wise whilst he has come out relatively unscathed. He’s managed to get two promotions while I keep getting knocked off track 😡

I do hope Cag is ok. You can’t help but worry.

SunnyLikeThursday · 25/10/2017 15:53

I think it's probably a good sign about Cag too hopefully. Labour does take a while and I slept for a long time afterwards. Hopefully she's done the job and nodded off.

LillyLollyLandy · 25/10/2017 15:54

Em mums are great, aren’t they. Bet that was just what you needed - a little bit of respite for a few hours. Hope DS is cooperating and letting you get some sleep. Do you have a sleepyhead? DD2 used to nap in hers while I lay on the bed and napped beside her.

ememem84 · 25/10/2017 15:58

lily oh mums are the best. Specially mine today. I needed help. I haven’t had s nap yet but am just about to go for one. Ds is settled (ish) in his basket so hopefully (fingers crossed) he’ll nod off too.

No sleepyhead here. We toyed with the idea but decided to see if we needed one. Aren’t they now recalling them?!

Loveabaconsandwich · 25/10/2017 16:05

Not spendy day yet, but we may buy the American style fridge/freezer we liked at Currys. Will be just over £500 once i’ve bought gift vouchers for it with my work thing which gives 8% off gift vouchers

Also on my Christmas list:
£3k Samsung American style fridge freezer. DD1 particularly enjoyed drawing on the screen in the shop and it has a camera
£3k on a curved Samsung tv
£1k on a corner sofa in Harveys

Ha! My list is rather unrealistic. But blimey technology has improved since I last went to Currys

CollieBobs · 25/10/2017 16:07

Halloween Shock I have never seen a hare!

CollieBobs · 25/10/2017 16:09

Posted WAY too soon!

I spent 12p on a flump. Does that count as a NSD? Haha!

It's so sunny and warm here. Just like Summer!!

LillyLollyLandy · 25/10/2017 16:14

Em the US FDA issued a warning against sleep positioners, which are designed to keep baby on their back or on their side whilst sleeping. John Lewis and other UK retailers removed these from the shelf (the Babymoov sleep positioner is one example apparently). Sleepyheads don’t seem to be affected as John Lewis are still selling these, and also they’re not “positioners” as such. I used mine with DD in our bed - I’d put her down for a nap in the sleepyhead and lie down beside her to sort of co-sleep. Stopped using it when she was able to roll and climb.

WreckTangled · 25/10/2017 16:15

The safest cot is an empty cot. Sleepyheads haven’t been recalled but lullaby (the best website for sleep advice) advise against any sleep positioner.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 25/10/2017 16:16

We were discussing it at work the other day (I share an office with five health visitors). We were also talking about the baby hammocks you can get!

OP posts:
SunnyLikeThursday · 25/10/2017 16:24

wreck my ds's cot must have been super safe then because even he was never in it. It was totally empty.

WreckTangled · 25/10/2017 16:26

😂😂 sunny I just think companies like that prey on exhausted parents with no regards for safe sleeping. We will try anything to get them to sleep won’t we? I suppose it’s all fine as long as you make an informed choice. I know that from about four months I put ds to sleep on his tummy because it was the only way he would sleep.

LonelyOversharer · 25/10/2017 16:31

Been busy all day, have read back three pages, and, no cag!

I'm guessing baby is here are she's a tad busy just now! I hope things have gone smoothly.

All my babies (except dd2, cot for her, she hated being dusturbed) slept best in the crook of my arm. So I mostly coslept with them in the bed with me, in the middle, tucked in with the covers up to their chins. I know this goes against the rules. But we all slept, I could night feed without getting up, and I don't drink or sleep heavily.

Dd1 has had her braces put on today! So much better than mine, but that was 24 years ago. I think she is pleased. You can also see how squint they are now. Set up a standing order, £800 more to pay.

Then £79 in sainsburys. I wanted to buy dd1 something for being so good, she picked a mini pumpkin! I got me grey skinnies, a purple base layer, and a nice corduroy skirt. I must stop buying clothes.

meadow I hope the meds help. Nausea is no joke. Actually being sick as well is worse.

There's a remote road by us where you drive through fields, and we see hares there. They are truly beautiful creatures.

ChristmasSeacow · 25/10/2017 16:31

GrinGrin Sunny GrinGrin

CollieBobs · 25/10/2017 16:36

Wow! Are Cocoonababy mattresses still safe? We had one years ago. Which was incredible for reflux & DS slept through the night with it. Best thing we ever bought but he grow out of it quickly Sad anyhoo I hope they're still safe as I highly recommend them.

We've watched an awful lot of Pocoyo today!

WreckTangled · 25/10/2017 16:38

Ds likes that collie Hmm

OP posts:
LillyLollyLandy · 25/10/2017 16:41

Fair comment, wreck. My Health Visitor knew I was using one but seemed comfortable enough with it on the basis she knew we weren’t leaving DD unsupervised in it. I’d also had major surgery after she was born and was bedridden for a few weeks, so we felt it was safer to have her in the sleepyhead beside me than to have her lying on blankets etc. *
*
Neither of my older DC slept in their cots either Sunny! Little blighters.

LillyLollyLandy · 25/10/2017 16:43

Collie I’m not sure about the cocoonababy. As wreck says the guidance is not to put anything in the cot but I haven’t specifically heard anything about cocoonababy being recalled.

WreckTangled · 25/10/2017 16:48

I haven’t either. Obviously it doesn’t really have sides but it also doesn’t reinforce back flat on the mattress etc. Everyone knows a refluxy baby is happier propped up a bit though.

OP posts:
SunnyLikeThursday · 25/10/2017 16:48

Do you think younger siblings are more likely to sleep in a cot? I always liked my cot, but I think it was because I felt safer fenced in. I suppose that without older children, or possibly pets roaming around then a fence wouldn't be so useful.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 25/10/2017 17:01

Eek no update from Cag hope she is o.kay

Dd used to like sleeping on her side, I think you do what you do with babies and getting them to sleep - whatever works! Dummies were my saviour, I think I would have been carted off to the funny farm with out them Grin

So left ddog for the first time to go shopping, was gone about 1.5 hours and we completely freaked out when we got home as couldn't find her Shock turns out she had let herself out of the cat flap and was in the garden!! Bit concerned about this as she seems happy enough to go out the cat flap but completely refused to come back in through it Hmm Confused that won't be good if i'm at work and its raining.

She also had her first 'accident' this morning and wee'd in the hallway, this was our fault though as we hadn't encouraged her enough to go outside, oh and the funny smell looks like it might be her anal glands apparently they secrete a weird fishy smell when stressed or scared. None of these issues are massive on their own but it feels a bit like the honeymoon period is over!!

Laska surely you have seen Grease? Rizzo is one of the main characters from that, the naughty one who likes to get her kicks while she is young enough to get them Grin Tbf she is my favourite character from the film and the song 'There are worse things you can do' is my favourite song. We will see re the name...

Spent £63 in Morrisons included washing powder, dog food and a few extra bits for half term. Payday Friday can't come soon enough!!
