They're wrong Need, you don't pay for surface water if it goes into a soakaway.

It'll probably be under your driveway.

Cagliostro · 07/10/2017 13:39

Oh DS would never in a million years sell them. He has two overriding autistic obsessions - Bionicles and Transformers :) he's currently making his own ones from mixed pieces. There are lots of spare instruction booklets with it and he will take them to bed to read! Even without the pieces to build them it just makes him happy to look at bless him. He wants to work for Lego when he's older, we even emailed them a while ago and they sent an awesome reply saying what subjects he needs to study etc. So cool :)

Vax arrived and OMG it's dead sexy 😂 I hadn't even realised that it has a proper handheld DustBuster type thing inside it that you can lift out. Wooooo!

I'm totally sticking with the seeded low carb hovis bread after baby arrives. It's sooo lovely, much nicer than the seeded bread I had bought previously.

needastrongone · 07/10/2017 13:43

Okay, the guy that owns the development actually lives on it (must be why the houses are built to such a high standard Wink, so I will walk up later, he always washes his flashy beamer on a Saturday afternoon Grin

Cagliostro · 07/10/2017 13:53

Definitely agree about the variation in charity shops! This one is next to the hall DD dances in, and is basically a giant shed that only opens twice a week. It is an utter mess and you never know what you'll find if you rummage, but everything is super cheap. A far cry from the BHF I used to volunteer in which had super strict rules about what could go out for sale/how long for (this was part of the problem I had with clutter... so many not-quite-sellable books and toys I felt sorry for... Blush) and frequently got complaints about being too expensive! But the plus side was that it was always tidy and easy to browse and things like jigsaws/games were always checked for completeness etc. Swings and roundabouts really.

Taytocrisps · 07/10/2017 13:53

Cag I'm laughing at your sexy Vax Grin. Although I'm still entranced by our new fridge. I keep wandering over to it and opening the door and gazing inside for no reason whatsoever. And the wonder of cucumbers that aren't frozen the day after I buy them!

Need dd didn't fall into an 'at risk' category either...... one of the nurses on PICU said they had had strapping teenage boys in suffering with flu complications in the past. I'm glad you are getting the jab Smile

I am confused about the water thing, we are on a new estate so almost certainly would have a drain away thing? Would I have to ring the water company to find out?

Wreck going to pm you.

SunnyLikeThursday · 07/10/2017 14:08

I used to live with someone whose Mum volunteered in a charity shop. The Mum used to get deliveries of EU Beef in tins (Blue with yellow stars on) for distribution to poor people in the UK. Because she was staff she was able to intercept them before they went on the shelf and bring them home for my housemate to feed to her dog. I was properly shocked about that.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/10/2017 14:17

Girlie Ring your builder. The water company won't know off hand.

That's so wrong Sunny.

SunnyLikeThursday · 07/10/2017 16:23

That was what I thought. It made me think of all the people diligently raising money for these charities so my housemate could feed the proceeds to her dog. Not right.

ememem84 · 07/10/2017 16:27

OK. Big news. well not really we went into town. We did everything we needed to - changed jumper bought more vests bought brisket for tomorrow’s lunch. £54 back from white stuff on a gift card. £5.41 brisket and £9 vests.

Also £52 on M&S on 3 maternity bras. damm huge boobs

We stopped for a snack in nice cafe. SS decided he needed feeding. So I had to do it. It was either that or leave him cry (not an option), take him to the car (not an option as we’d paid for food and I didn’t want to leave dh on his own) ttoddle off to boots or mothercare to feed him there (both too far away and would have meant leaving dh). So I did it there. We were in a corner table. And I just did it. Felt awfully self conscious. And felt like everyone was staring at me. (They weren’t as dh was facing the cafe and I was opposite him back to the cafe...). But I did it.

Cagliostro · 07/10/2017 16:34

Yay em! That's brilliant :) :)

WreckTangled · 07/10/2017 16:37

Well done em! It'll get easier Smile

I want dominos for dinner. So I've stuck a pizza in the oven to thwart the temptation.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/10/2017 16:51

Well done Em soon you won't even think about it!

Its carnival season here again, dd is in a local one tonight so going to get sorted and head off there in a min. Haven't made it out of the house so far today, couldn't be arsed to go shopping and dd went on a mission to sort her bedroom out! We now have two big bags of stuff to go to the charity shop....

SunnyLikeThursday · 07/10/2017 16:57

Good job Em!

I have been to the Scout shop, which was really fun. It is like a proper old shop with wooden chest of drawers right to the ceiling. Ds bought a compass for £2. Almost stationary traffic all the way both ways.

needastrongone · 07/10/2017 17:23

Go Em, go Em, go Em!!! It's such early days and you are doing just fantastically well. Please remember this, you are coping so brilliantly well. Good old matter of fact, no nonsense get on with it way that you have.

I'm getting the builder to email me so things are in writing, cheers Fluffy.

Just sat down with a cheeky glass of red. Racing in the morning and I've cooked all week so having a pizza tonight as it's me and DD.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/10/2017 17:40

Well done Em, I don't think any of us would feel comfy bf in public for the first time.

So you do have a soakaway then? You can claim back 6 years so if you allow £60 a year that's not a bad amount.

NSD & £4 mb. I could have easily made £8 doing that one but fluffed it.

needastrongone · 07/10/2017 17:49

Yeah, just want it confirmed in writing. Love you fluffy❤️❤️😂

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/10/2017 18:05

😂 love you too 💗💗💗

Your neighbours might get a refund.

Next year a few water companies will announce profit warnings Blush

ememem84 · 07/10/2017 18:39

Thanks guys. Dh was super proud of me. He knew how difficult I’d found the thought of it.

Now settling in for dinner (meatballs) and strictly.

northender · 07/10/2017 18:43

Good luck with the water company need, anything that takes money back from these companies is fine by me. Utility providers being run for profit makes me Angry. I think we do parent similarly, I definitely try not to sweat the small stuff! The day after ds was drunk, we went out for lunch and he looked quite green!!!
Well done on the public bf Em
Dh is at a cricket dinner with friends tonight so a couple of the other wives are coming her for some food and wine. Spent £25 earlier on Gruffalo gardening bits & bobs for dnephew's Christmas present, so cute!

Taytocrisps · 07/10/2017 18:57

That was rather a hectic day! I was expecting one visitor as we had to organize an activity we're involved with. I ended up with three sets (not counting Tesco man). The last two overlapped but they know each other.

Taytocrisps · 07/10/2017 19:01

Hit post too quickly. I'm not used to my house being such a hub of activity. I managed to squeeze in a quick dinner of pasta, tuna and a jar of sauce. Going to sit down with DD in a minute to watch Strictly.

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/10/2017 19:32

Well done em Halo Such a big thing to have gotten done

My parents never did alcohol so they never realised I used to get properly drunk until I was so hungover after a work Christmas party at 20. The rest of the time I just hid it well and was ill discretely . I was the well behaved child Halo

So by popular vote, I have now ordered a sear and stew

Spends
£37 on eBay on sear and stew, and new Rainbows trousers for DD. Got it using the deal of paying with nectar points, and will then get back 50% of the points
£37 petrol and got a 1000 nectar point voucher
£22 Tesco. Two lots of nappies, yoghurts, tangfastics, 2xcereal and a big bit of beef that should do three meals
£16 McDonald’s

Saw two lots of family today. And PIL dropped a “we want to give you a nice chunk of money bombshell.” Shock It will be a while until we get it so I am currently spending it in my mind on all sorts of goodies, so I should be reasonable and frugal when it actually lands in the bank. But wow Shock

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/10/2017 19:33

em touch lamp like wreck suggested is great for lower light use. We have them in the DCs rooms now for if we have to turn on the lights in the night

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/10/2017 20:19

Need the thing with superdrug own make you can take it back of you are not satisfied. Look on the back of the product.
