I've heard a rumour that Santa might be bringing a recipe book or two. I'm hoping it's the new JOB one now!

SnugglySnerd · 05/10/2017 13:06

JO not job!

ChristmasSeacow · 05/10/2017 13:10

Thanks for the tip Sunny - I hope it's just a hangover from last week's cold but I'll keep an eye on it.

I just booked my Ocado Christmas slot. Not sure whether we'll be at home or the in-laws but I can always cancel it if not needed. Or drink the £90 worth of gin which is currently holding my slot Wink

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/10/2017 13:29

Sea I never saw my dw, I just ordered it. It's a Miele. £1500 in JL but I found it in a builders merchant for £1100.

There was no holiday that year.

ChristmasSeacow · 05/10/2017 13:41

Was it worth it Fluffy? My friend swears by her spendy Miele too

Laska5772 · 05/10/2017 13:44

Apple cinnamon and raisin crumble muffins. First muffins I have made since DS left school.. so over 10 years...

Laska5772 · 05/10/2017 13:46

LonelyOversharer · 05/10/2017 13:58

Will need a report on the muffins laska as I keep meaning to try crumble topped ones. I do have a lot of apples just now... They do look very good.

Which specific JO books am I needing for all these yummy recipies? I buy my own Christmas presents you see.

Our dishwasher is a zanussi. All our white goods are, even my ebay spinner. Dp is a bit odd like that. It was circa £300 and is/has been excellent for the 6 yrs we've had it. It only runs cold when it is filled with jelly slime/filter goo. Now I've jinxed it and it will be dead when I get home!

seacow it sounds like dd is getting to the end of her twisty pain thing? Hopefully soon you'll not remember it at all. A self settler is marvelous, only one out of 4 was not fed to sleep always

I've had one incredibly difficult baby, the easiest one, ever, bar none; and two that fell somewhere inbetween. I consider myself very lucky! And I got the screamer first.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/10/2017 14:04

Sort of.

It cleans really well & the door opens up at the end so it drys really well too. It runs on very little electric & water plus the salt dispensers in the door so it's easy to refill. It tells me how much it uses on each cycle. You can turn the bleeping off at the end, you can fit SO much in. There's always a rack that drops down or flips up to help get more in.
It's very adjustable & I can get the BBQ grill & lid in there.

Cons;
It's semi intergrated & took all day to fit. I mean all day too.
One of the plate racks never quite fitted properly but I don't need that rack so I took it out & put pans there.

I broke the filter being too rough with it Blush but it still filters.

I think a basic Miele would perform better, longer than a cheaper brand.

The codes Waitrose sent me didn't work so I rang customer services & they gave me a working code. I've ordered three weeks worth of evening meals, basics like flour etc for £90.99. With the cats Amazon order it should be under £40 a week for all of us.

Collie Sainsburys is free delivery over £100, could you do a fortnightly shop? Then you wouldn't need a pass.

Lack of freezer space is holding me back with shopping.

ememem84 · 05/10/2017 14:34

lonely we have the following JO books - save with Jamie, ministry of food and 5 ingredients. They’re all awesome.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/10/2017 14:51

I love jo but Dh had quite a traditional menu at home so he isn't in to much foriegn food Sad. My most used cook book is the takeaway secret 😀

DM used to do curries & salt her own beef. We had taramasalata & hummus way before it was trendy.

One year she gravlax-d her own salmon. It tasted just as vile as the shop bought version but took weeks of preparation & took a whole shelf up in the wine fridge. We had a wine fridge in the 90's Grin

I had a panic earlier because sporting index refused my account & I logged into doddle to check my credit score, 600 😧. Logged into Experian for free, 999. I've been worried all morning about that.

Not caught up yet. On way home whereas normally we'd have 1.5hrs to kill before getting another bus to Badgers!

Spends:
£9 bus
£10 lunch
£10 2x leggings for DD (needs black ones for tap now she's moved up a class)
£19 Boots on drinks, and nice face scrub and body lotion. I am absolutely shockingly crap at self care but trying to make myself do a bit.

It was ok at the club, she stormed right past and ignored us all. Her DS did chat to mine which is fine, they are seemingly unaware of everything. The DD came over to mine to say hi as well but then left when DD didn't engage in conversation. DD just didn't know what to say (and why would she when she is actually terrified of how nasty this girl has been), she was perfectly polite but will probably be bitched about nonetheless (this woman twists everything so much that it's actually a running joke now).

SnugglySnerd · 05/10/2017 14:58

I thought Xmas Ocado slots were available tomorrow. Bugger. To be honest I don't know what day of the week it is anymore.

SunnyLikeThursday · 05/10/2017 15:27

Lonely How did the incredibly difficult baby turn out? Was (s)he just like the other ones in the end or always difficult?

Cagliostro · 05/10/2017 15:45

Super proud of DD today too... she had to be given extra difficult challenges at climbing because the normal stuff was too easy :o this included one handed climbing and all sorts Shock as well as learning what the instructor does to teach the younger ones :) does make me wonder where to go from there though. The oldest group member (13) recently left to do the normal more expensive climbing club so as to get more challenged (the HE one is understandably mixed age/ability) so that would be an option eventually but she's just got a load of friends to join the HE one. Absolutely thrilled to see her thriving though. :)

Especially as I just got DD's diagnostic report in the post and that's made for quite sad reading really. She's been referred for occupational therapy which is good (not sure why DS wasn't as his physical issues are much worse TBH! But we will ask when we see the paediatrician, in December apparently).

WreckTangled · 05/10/2017 15:51

Cag well done dd!

Nsd. Dd doesn't want to go swimming today as she has a bad cough. That's fine by me the pool is cold and 2m deep so it's best she doesn't go.

Dd is now a feee reader! No more boring books for her. They're reading Harry Potter in class too which she is pleased about as she loves it and has already read the first four.

I put chilli in the slow cooker before work so just need to do something with it, might end up being chips!

Cagliostro · 05/10/2017 16:03

Thanks wreck and congrats to your DD too, free reader yay! Star Hope she feels better soon.

So now I have the reports for both Caglets it is time to start applying for DLA. Which is of course very frugal. I am not convinced DD would be eligible (DS' needs are far more obvious and he needs more help) but the specialist HVs were convinced it's worth applying for both of them. So may as well try. Then I need to email the EHCP people as well. YIKES. It's shit filling out forms like that though (as I know some people here will understand) - listing all the things they can't do like regular kids, really depressing! Sometimes I can't even believe they are diagnosed now, especially DD. But it opens doors to help they may not get otherwise, so needs must. They are still awesome kids no matter what extra help they need. :)

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/10/2017 16:21

£80 for rest of hot tub hire. 60 in Aldi and Iceland on party stuff. Need to go to the butchers and sainsbury on Saturday.
£24 Amazon on Christmas present, £10 Asda light box

Cagliostro · 05/10/2017 16:25

Shit I just noticed a sort of weird wet patch on our ceiling. It's under our room but nothing on the floor up there. Quite near where the bathroom is though. WTF?

WreckTangled · 05/10/2017 16:26

Oh no cag I don't know what it could be but I think it needs seeing too pretty quickly!

Cagliostro · 05/10/2017 16:33

Outing myself as a total idiot but what do I actually do?!

ememem84 · 05/10/2017 16:37

Sensible option is to call a plumber. I’d ring my dad first though...

WreckTangled · 05/10/2017 16:38

Me too em Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/10/2017 16:41

Looks like a leak cag. Turn off your stop tap. Your in rented right. Ring the letting agency/ landlord as you need a plumber

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/10/2017 16:43

Not an idiot cag.

Go upstairs can you hear any dripping/ running water in any room. Any sign of water up there. The source needs to be found.
