Hi,
I am thinking of getting a cheap Samsung E1200 phone (or simiar Nokia) for work. Are there any pay as you go (ones you top up when you run out, not that top up automatically) SIM cards out there for 2G phones? I wasn't sure if they'd switched 2G off.

No plans in the UK. Hope no rush, love my small neat tough £3 phone with the two week battery life. Don't want a power guzzling brick!

Are you on PAYG?

Not yet. 2G and 3G are going to be phased out by 2020.

Anyway, 4G SIM cards are backwards compatible.

There are NO definite dates to switch off 2g in the uk. the link you read was from 2015 and was just 'operators predict' other links say the opposite.

Yes, I am on Payg. Spend about £20 a year on it. Do all my chatting and internet at home on a real comms system that doesnt inflict my calls on anyone else.
