Welcome back Mummy and congrats on the contract! Awesome! 🌟

MeadowHay · 17/04/2017 12:20

Hi mummy congrats on the new job, it sounds great!

Should be yet another NSD here today. I am having NSD after NSD staying with my parents. I am so lucky that they are well-off and also generous. My mam is insistent on taking me to a local garden centre a bit later - neither of us are interested in gardening, but she says the café does excellent scones that I would like Grin.

Finally a bit of sun here now!

Revision going ok but each day that passes I can feel the anxiety about my exams starting to creep into the pit of my stomach blergh...

ememem84 · 17/04/2017 12:45

So far £30 on entry and parking to the race course. This does include a tea/coffee and a beer/wine and entrance to the viewing hill.

Dh is having two "free" beers...!

SnugglySnerd · 17/04/2017 13:41

Creme that is exactly what I order from the takeaway, I want one now!

Welcome back, Mummy.

I am writing a will. Sensible I know but a bit scary!

scattyspice · 17/04/2017 15:08

Meadow exam stress I do not miss.
Snuggly we made our will a few years back, feels very strange.
£60 lidl that should see us through til the weekend.
Difficult to meal plan this week as DD is in a show every night so will need tea early also df is coming for a few days.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/04/2017 15:22

Welcome back mummy. Well done on the contract.

Soft play place was good. £22 top up in aldi and Iceland on way home. £50 on diesel as did 550 miles since a week gone Sunday.

SunnyLikeThursday · 17/04/2017 15:49

Has anybody else heard about this diesel tax thing that they're thinking of introducing in cities? It said in our local paper that it might £20 a day to drive a diesel car in our city, and since we live in the city, that would mean £20 just to drive our car at all.

We're in the process of replacing our car at the moment, and with this tax being considered it seems as though it would be bonkers to buy a diesel car at the moment.

Thanks for the new thread.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/04/2017 16:25

Yes sunny. We are looking to get rid of our diesel car later this year as they are now considered evil apparently. There is supposed to be some kind of incentive to help change cars by the govt apparently but it's means tested and i don't think we would get it. Worth a Google though.

It's all too do with the age of the car and emission but i bet it will move to all diesels. Ironic as they were the recommended car to get not long ago

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/04/2017 16:26

We will be moving to a petrol next too

thewaitresses · 17/04/2017 16:31

😰 we bought our diesel car less than a year ago and live in a city centre.

Spends today:

£27 in Halfords on inner tubes and bike stuff
£5 drinks on lovely local walk/cycle ride

Someone upthread suggested solo shopping - that would be a dream come true! 😂

Mummysh0rtlegs · 17/04/2017 16:43

My diesel is going to need replacing soon and we definitely will be moving to petrol (and a lease). I knew this was coming, I do wonder how hard hitting it will finally be.

Loveabaconsandwich · 17/04/2017 16:56

Fortunately we replaced our diesel last year with my newish little run around. PIL thought we should have replaced it with a big diesel car for DPs commute but then 4 months later he got a job closer to home, so guess who made the best decision Grin. We just wanted a newer car as we kept getting PILs old cars which have cost us thousands to maintain over the years. I know that sounds ungrateful but in hindsight they wanted rid of their cars for a reason Hmm

A diesel is economic if you do a lot of miles.

LSD £2 on bread and milk
Used our summer pass for a local attraction for the second time. Going to keep a tally of visits to check it was worth buying.

Tomorrow will spendy as my little car is going in for it's service and MOT. They are meant to be cleaning the car too- quite excited about that! (Sad I know)

Mummysh0rtlegs · 17/04/2017 17:00

My diesel is my MIL's cast off, I do not do the miles to justify it, though we will be driving to France in it at the end of August!

SnugglySnerd · 17/04/2017 17:02

Having always had petrol cars we have recently got a diesel. It was very hard to find a suitable car (one that could accommodate 3 child seats and a double buggy) that we could afford and that wasn't diesel, it wouldn't have been my first choice and I'd be pretty pissed off about the tax even though I am an environmentalist.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/04/2017 17:05

I don't do enough to justify it either but it was a good deal at the time and we used to do more miles.
I'm considering a PCP thing

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/04/2017 17:20

Mummy Welcome back. Well done on the job, It sounds perfect.

NSD because I bought my travel size bottles using boots card points. I've got another course in Essex before the end of the year, hopefully.

My little car gets 55mpg using petrol. I've always had pcp cars.

needastrongone · 17/04/2017 17:36

PCP's can work pretty well Life, we do approx 50/50 depending on deal, either leasing or buying. Just check the interest figures on both.

Re Lidl, I still like it, in particular the F&V, nuts, cleaning products and dairy. There's other stuff from Aldi that I prefer, and I get 'staples' delivery of heavy stuff and any offers from Ocado. Luxury naice stuff from M&S and some stuff from Amazon. In fact, my shopping habits have changed loads, I used to use one supermarket for a weekly shop, now it's bits from everything. I wonder what everyone else does?

Welcome back Mummy. Brill on the contract.

Meadow Will will have 5 consecutive years of exam stress at least, starting with DS and GCSE's last year. With DD being one academic year behind we will have GCSE's and AS this year, A levels and AS the following, A Levels for DD, then Uni....!! Both of mine are fairly chilled about exams thankfully. Smile

Snuggly We really need to do our will, as we have the business and assets. Actually, I think the business is covered but it's definitely something we need to do asap.

It's been a spendy day.
£40 Amazon (various).
£80 Garden centre but bought some lovely cushions, grow bags, and some not cheap but very pretty cards that are blank and will get me out of a hole when I forget birthdays.
£14 M&S on the naice stuff.
£20 Lidl.
£41 interiors shop. We are trying to keep on top and finish off. As you can imagine, I am vain about the house. Pretty Sophie Conran dishes.

Today has been productive. Lots of shopping and also dug over all my raised beds, sown courgettes, peas, basil, sorrel and potted on the cucumbers and tomatoes.

Found a card that I will frame as I feel it's 'me' The quote is 'Life begins at the end of your comfort zone' Smile.

Go Prince Harry for talking so candidly about MH issues.

I have tried so hard not to eat Easter eggs or any chocolate but have just given in. Sod it. I knew I would regret it.
DD and family gone home but they left loads of chocolate. Is it ok to have chocolate for tea. It from a plant. It is therefore one of my 5 a day. Right?
Welcome back Mummy and congrats on the job
