It's next week, so will be less busy as Easter hols finished :o it's a little HE group we are in, we normally do topic work at someone's house but they wanted a change of scene. It's just a pricey change of scene especially when I add in transport! But it's only a one off. And the person who set it up has hinted that it won't work having us in the group anymore once Cagletini arrives Confused so will presumably not be an issue next year

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/04/2017 07:41

I will try them on when I'm at the metro center on Friday and report back.
I love fly lonely. I have some wedges without the top strap so can walk too far in them as my heel slips. It's a podiatrist nightmare sorry fluffy.

Good luck today sea at the hospital.

No point buying keeper shoes while pregnant imo pudding feet

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/04/2017 07:43

It's a bit off of you get left out due to a baby cag. Unless they just mean for this specific trip.

LonelyOversharer · 20/04/2017 07:50

cag I'm really surprised that you'd be kicked out of a group because you'd had another baby, how on earth would it impact on them?? For some reason, I sort of assumed that HE groups would be a bit more open to changes like this. That's plain not fair on your dc...what a shame.

Cagliostro · 20/04/2017 07:51

Nope Life. Generally out of the group. Long story but she is (understandably) very unhappy that I'm pregnant, it's all awkward as hell TBH! But meh. We have heaps of other HE stuff going on anyway (some would say too much) and I'm not inclined to argue really, it's awkward enough already and if she can't face having me there I don't want to force it. Terrible timing as we are going away together soon. I feel awful for her but also I know I haven't actually done anything wrong :(

Sorry that was totally unfrugaleer related! Blush

ememem84 · 20/04/2017 07:57

That's totally not fair cag but maybe you'll find a better group??

17 weeks today. Eeep. And according to the app I downloaded mini Em is the size of a chipmunk. 🙂

Just tried my conference/meeting/business travel suit on. And it is too snug. Skirt won't do up. Sigh. Where does one find maternity business type clothes?

Cagliostro · 20/04/2017 08:04

TBH we are in heaps of groups, it's just the couple of things she runs that we will be out of. We aren't generally short of stuff to do or friends to see :o quite the opposite in fact, it's so busy round here that we have to regularly turn stuff down! I'm glad people agree it's not fair though, can't talk about it IRL as I'm one of the only people to know why she is (as I said, totally understandably) so upset. Anyway, it's several months away and we will see how it goes I guess.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/04/2017 08:32

Ah i see. Cag.

Em can you use something to bridge the gap in the skirt and wear a longer top of its just for now. Don't know about business wear as i was able to wear linen trousers and they relaxed the dress code a bit for me. I think next did some maternity business wear

Loveabaconsandwich · 20/04/2017 09:36

em could you get a work jacket that doesn't have buttons? I got one like that for my interview last week. Slightly less smart but still smart but as you don't have the option to button it then it won't look strange when bump gets big. Then you can pair it with maternity trousers and tops

Sorry cag to hear that. People do react to pregnancies in different ways- it is nice you understand her feelings. But things could change when she had come to terms with it perhaps

Cagliostro · 20/04/2017 10:40

Thank you. Haven't seen her in person yet since I told her so we shall see! It's been difficult so far as TBH she has said some very nasty things. But hopefully time will help. I know she is hurting terribly.

Anyway! Sorry about the rant. Lazy morning here waiting around for the sofa delivery. DH is taking the Caglets to one of their clubs later (in a neighbouring county whose Easter hols have already finished - ours are still on a break) and we must get some nice biscuits or something. Old friend popping over in the morning, she was like another mum to me when I had DD :) then DSD staying in the evening as she's back from uni

CremeEggThief · 20/04/2017 12:21

Goodness, Cag. No matter how upset she is, it doesn't give her the right to take it out on you and say nasty things. I know you're handling it really well, but it's still very unfair of her.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 20/04/2017 12:42

Blimey Cag you are being very understanding, no matter what her circumstances are they are no excuses for her to be anything but pleased for you Angry you sound better off out of that group with people like that in it!!

17 weeks already Em Shock so exciting!!

Had another crap night last night dd finally fell asleep about 10.30pm which is better than on previous nights but was awake at 4.30, am so tired as been like that for nearly a week now!!

SnugglySnerd · 20/04/2017 12:48

That's rubbish, Cag! I'm annoyed on your behalf.

17 weeks, Em, it's going quickly! What about maternity dress with smart jacket? In the meantime a hairband threaded through the button hole and round the button will tide you over.

Heading for an NSD at the moment. Babies are asleep so having a cuppa while DD1 watches a bit of tv. When they wake up I am determined we will all go out for a walk, just round the block but I haven't taken them all out on my own yet and I need to prove to myself I can do it! I know it sounds ridiculous but the steep steps to our house make the logistics of 3 kids plus buggy tricky and DD1 has a tendency to bolt. Luckily she still has an Easter egg left for bribery!

SunnyLikeThursday · 20/04/2017 13:23

lonely That's amazing that you have had so many different kinds of birth. I always assumed that it would be the same every time for each person. Wow! making mental note never to do it again

We had a great night at Beavers last night. Ds and I are now totally hooked on the concept of Scouting, and ds also on MacDonalds Toffee Sundae. Much cheaper and more fun than our current lego addiction definitely.

thewaitresses · 20/04/2017 13:56

Good luck snuggly!

Sunny I was chatting to a friend recently about what good value beavers is and how much they do!

I'm sitting having a coffee - a habit I've developed recently. Must cut back as it's the classic 'if you gave up your daily coffee you'd save £££ a year' but it's just so pleasant and gets us out of the house!

Cagliostro · 20/04/2017 14:22

Thank you guys Thanks

Got my scan date for the proper 12 week scan (although will be 11 + something by then) woohoo! And it's early morning so DH can come too.

Sofa isn't coming today. Delivery driver has a broken leg :( rearranged for tomorrow.

Eeeeek 17 weeks em wow 😍😍 only 3 till your next scan then? And possibly not too long until you start feeling flutters. I love the things that tell you how big baby is, I remember finding out (must have been further along) that DD weighed 500g and I was just holding a small bag of sugar to compare and being like OMG :o have you got any further on the name discussion yet? Obv don't say what if that's outing but just being nosy and wondering if you've chosen :o

SunnyLikeThursday · 20/04/2017 14:38

Thewaitress It's great isn't it? I did Brownies, Guides and Ranger Guides and got my Queen's Guide badge, so for me, going to Beavers feels like coming home. I'm really hoping that ds and I can manage the late nights and stick with it, as I'd like to sign up as a leader. The men who run it and the boys there were such good company. I think it would be great to do my bit there.

SunnyLikeThursday · 20/04/2017 14:57

I just heard that a research paper that I submitted is to be published soon and my image will be on the front cover. Properly exciting. Smile

I did all the work self-funded, on my own at home, while pretty much my only company was the frugaleers, so thanks for keeping me company though it. Smile

Cagliostro · 20/04/2017 15:01

Oh my gosh sunny that's amazing! Well done!

scattyspice · 20/04/2017 15:08

Wow that's fantastic Sunny, and fab about beavers.
Good luck on your outing Snuggly. I remember sitting on a bench to bf dd when DS bolted (he was 20mnths), learnt to bf on the move Grin.
NSD as at work.

CremeEggThief · 20/04/2017 15:14

Fantastic, Sunny. Well done! Star I think being a Beavers leader or assistant would be excellent for you both.

Mummysh0rtlegs · 20/04/2017 15:31

Em - ebay is your friend for smart maternity wear, no one wears it for long! I wore a lot of jersey dresses and blazers with some seraphine and Isabella Oliver thrown in.

ChristmasSeacow · 20/04/2017 16:01

Congrats on the paper Sunny , and also Beavers. Just last week I made enquiries for DS - he is too young but I thought (correctly) that there would be a waiting list so I put him on it. Glad to hear of so many positive experiences, hopefully there will
be a place when DS turns 6.

Go Snuggly - I know what you mean about just having to prove to yourself that you can!

Em I had to wear smart stuff during my first pregnancy. I bought a few staples (like black trousers) from Next. TBH it was trial and error to find what fitted best, I tried from A LOT of shops! I also wore a lot of smart jersey wraparound tops from Isabella Oliver - they were pricey but made of very good jersey that didn't fade or bobble (and still look in mint condition this pregnancy). Jojo Maman Bebe also do decent staples with trousers, dresses and tops. It's all a bit dull though - Its hard to get away from solid colours ime as the patterned stuff was either hideous or too 'Mumsy' for work.

As Bacon suggested I also got a couple of jackets that were not designed to do up... I went up a size or so and then let them drape. My most versatile was a cream one from M&s (not maternity), which looked good with black trousers and a smart wraparound top in, say, a cornflower blue. I did investigate suits but they were rare, and expensive, and ugly (that might have improved in the last few years though). It is tricky though, especially as you have to do trial and error by mail order, mostly.

At my scan 2 weeks ago (28 weeks) they estimated the baby to be 3lb. I was surprised she was so big with so long to go! Quite normal, apparently.

Well, it's been a trying day. Bloods went as well as could be expected. Good thing: they got the sample they needed; bad thing: DS was very upset indeed. Oh well, needs must. £2.40 for hospital parking and £8.40 for Costa in the hospital entrance on the way out (A rewarding brownie for DS to stop the tears and drinks for me and DSis). We then headed to SN playgroup. £3 parking but I also got ticketed... I pay by an app and it took a couple of minutes to connect because my signal wasn't great (just as we were meandering down the road to our building - which is nearer than the paper ticket meter anyway!). I got the ticket at the exact same time my paid parking started. I will appeal but I am not hopeful as they are b* here. Must have been waiting to pounce Angry So another £60 if appeal is not successful.

DS started the day okay fever-wise but deteriorated a bit at lunch. He was happy to go to playgroup but a bit subdued... and then he had a massive nosebleed in the soft play. Very dramatic. He took all his clothes off because they were bloody (I had spares, phew!). And I had to hold him down to hold his nose... overall not a day either of us would like to repeat! We are home now, he is fighting sleep and I am ready for a nap myself. Or a stiff gin. Argh!

SnugglySnerd · 20/04/2017 16:07

I did it! Went out for nearly an hour with no tears from anyone, not even me!

Well done, Sunny, that's brilliant.

lifelongfrugaleer · 20/04/2017 16:35

Well done sunny. Be a beaver leader it's only an hour a week bollocks but can be lots of fun.
Definitely appeal the ticket and well done on today.
Well done to you too snuggly

£3 parking, £6 treats. £5 gym later.
