What sells well at Car Boot Sales?

I need to have a gigantic clear out of my house before I am buried alive in 'stuff'.
I have no idea what genre of 'stuff' sells best at car boot sales, any advice welcome!

Anything and everything but around here people expect it for next to nothing.

Any old crap for a normal car boot - I've seen people flog half used bottles of shower gel! If you have nicer more specialist stuff i would recommend a car boot with a better reputation like Batrersea Boot Sale - depending where you are in the country of course

I've done a few. Usually when I have had bigger items to sell they go quickly, especially baby or childrens items eg highchair, buggy, child's bike seat, cot etc. I always spread out a rug with all the little toys, usually with a sign like 20p each, 3 for 50p. Makes the kids stop and have a rummage! Or if its books, 50p each 3 for £1.
Its not an easy way to make money but you should be able to make some extra cash. Good luck!

Perfume even half bottles. Shoes. Kitchen stuff,crockery.saucepans etc. Tools. Handbags. But you can sell anything really. Books don't sell very well though. CDs and Dvds are reasonable sellers.

Cuddly toys. But be warned, most people buy them for their dogs to destroy so if your kids are sentimental about them then don't let them see them go!
I find a good mix of stuff brings a lot of people to your stall, price things clearly, put kids clothes into boxes organised by size etc.

you will be amazed at what stuff sells and what doesn't. kids clothes, dvds, old records and cds go like hot cakes. But so did old pans and old duvet covers?!?

But our good stuff like designer sunglasses, jewellery, took a few boot fairs to go.

Price things cheap and you will clear out more

Have fun! Oh and mind out for the crazies that start raising your boot before you've unloaded

Appalling old tat - yes.
Books - no.

Prepare to be depressed by people haggling you down from 20p.

How do you find boot sales? I can't find any around me!

That's what I've been looking at but they've all not been updated in 2-3 years and there's no response from the numbers listed.

It's worth taking just about anything, in my experience.

Sorry to hijack thread op but grey my friend and I used to hire local village halls and put on table top sales, we made money on the tables we sold as well as selling our own things as well. Also the local school 'hired' us their playground to hold a car boot which was very popular. Might be worth a shot if there really is nothing local to you?

You have to start with the idea that your stuff is worth only what people with pay for it. If you have half decent branded items or baby equipment eBay is better for example I got £12 for a baby joules outfit - at a car boot people wouldn't give you that they will
Expect to pay a quid.

Childrens things will go well, but I'd say if it fits in the car, take it - toiletries, old jewellery, clothes, household and garden items. I always have a look around and it's books I go for.

I went to one with my Dad years ago and we sold quite a bit. He got talking to the chap next to us who was a regular and offered him the rubbish that didn't sell for a certain amount so we took nothing home!

I've done Battersea boot a couple of times- far more civilised as you can set up before the buyers mob your car!
Definitely take a random selection of stuff- people buy the things you least expect. Clothing is better on a rail. Jeans, branded sportswear and any kind of footwear went really quickly.

Did one for house clearance once, you need at least two people to watch things as there are thieves. Yes its a hard word but that's what they are, they work in pairs and distract you. Even for things that cost 50p.

But good fun if you don't mind getting there for 6am and spending the day haggling. Was good to see stuff go to people who chose it, rather than the indirect gifting to charity shops.

People buy anything i had lots of kids clothes 3 for£1
Toys 20p 50p
Tools few quid each
Pram £35
Highchair£5
Kids play kitchen £5
Adults clothes 50p 1 pound each shoes few quid each
Old suitcases few quid

Hi, just done a kids car boot today, made approx 90.00, did the same venue about 2 years ago and noticed that people's want stuff for minimum price now, nothing really over £5 for big toys, sold books for 10-25p, boys clothes from next from 50p for t shirts, had a few decent school winter coats that costs about £25, tried to sell for £2 but haggled at £1.50. did a 10p box full of dinky cars and "tat" which went well with younger kids. Had a stack of dvd for 25p but no interest except Disney ones. Good luck and have patience.
