Sorry to hear about your rubbish day, Meadow. I think a lot of the appeals get accepted though, so try to stay positive. Brew

Happy Anniversary, Need and husband.Flowers

Just watching C4 News. Another day, another Trump scandal...

Spends: £9.70 travel to work and 0.75 chocolate flapjack, after work. Le yum!

WreckTangled · 15/02/2017 19:16

Snuggly you'll work it all out Smile I can't imagine how painful the skin on your stomach must be, mine was awful towards the end and I only had one in there!

Needastrongone · 15/02/2017 19:16

No idea about TV as I hardly I ever watch it.

Oh Meadow, poor you. It's sucks. Try to feel positive about how the pole dancing made you feel. The PIP is such a pile of shit.

Hormones Em, he he. It never really got to me that much I don't recall, but it was a long while ago and I am not a massively emotional sort. DSil however......Grin.

Sounds like a nightmare North. Least you weren't at school/work.

Each day at a time Snuggly is how you will cope.

Spends.
£6 Car wash.
£?? Curry.

SnugglySnerd · 15/02/2017 19:44

Thanks all.
What's he done now, Creme ? I haven't seen the news today.

AdoraBell · 15/02/2017 20:21

Need happy anniversary to you and MrNeed Thanks Wine

£5 in Thorntons, as DH is away I waited to get a chocolate heart at reduced price Grin also got glasses sorted for DD2 and managed to steer her to the NHS funded frames.

Cagliostro · 15/02/2017 20:51

I need to get the Caglets' eyes tested. DD will definitely need new glasses and I reckon she will have to wear them all the time now.

Haven't watched the news so no idea what else is happening re trump. Not sure I want to!

Today I have sewn 11 Brownies badges on DD's sash. Yay.

Board games tonight. Funnily enough the one I want to try is based on quilting (it's called Patchwork). The game currency is buttons. Too cute!

What do y'all reckon my chances are of getting a replacement part for a 10 year old ikea bed?! As if we can't it's mattress on the floor for the foreseeable! Although that's good for your back apparently. :o

Meadow I'm so sorry that's devastating. How on earth could they ignore the social anxiety aspect, you've talked about it on here and it's clear you do struggle, and there's a whole section on going out Hmm. I was surprised when I filled out the form - obviously for me the main issue is the physical disabilities but it really brought it home to me how much my ASD does impact my day to day life. Anyway yes often appeals are successful - I am expecting to first get seen for a face to face and then turned down and to need to appeal. Trying to brace myself. Anyway you have a lovely supportive DH and I reckon the appeal will come up trumps. In the card game sense not the presidential sense (as who would want that ugh) xx

Tryingtosaveup · 15/02/2017 21:02

Going to have to look at the news now on the BBC website. Has trump been assassinated yet! It's only a matter of time I fear.
I remember spending the last few weeks with DC1 in the bath as that was the only way I could get relief. What it must be like with 2 I can't imagine. But soon you will have 2 beautiful little snugglys. And you will cope. Like Need says I day at a time. Stock up on all your favourite things.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 15/02/2017 21:22

meadow Flowers appeal it is then. Do you think they turn loads down in the hope everyone is jolly British and just accepts it and goes away, and then they only actually look at the paperwork once it is at appeal? I'd really like to think the system does not work this way.

need happy anniversary!

em the hormones are ghastly, but a really good sign I think, since it means your body is flooding with all the right stuff to get a wee baby going - feels so wierd the first time (I cried a lot for the most bizarre reasons).

Just slept for no reason for over an hour.

mammymammyIRL · 15/02/2017 21:29

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. Will see what tickles my fancy, I've been behind on emmerdale since summer & I'm finally up to date Smile I watch very little tv either need but want to get stuck into something.

Meadow sorry to hear about your letter, hopefully the appeal goes smoothly

ChristmasSeacow · 15/02/2017 23:06

Sorry you have had such a tough day Meadow. I wouldn't be surprised if you get a different result on appeal, fingers crossed.

Happy anniversary Need!

ipso that bucket book looks rather good. I have a hard time getting DS to accept any new book as he only seems prepared to look at books he already knows (good job we had a massive selection before this 'rule' came in Hmm). I might still try it though. I am a bit bored of the usuals now!

I love a good box set, me. DH and I normally watch an episode of something between dinner and bed (married life us really rock n roll here). He liked Girls but i got fed up of it quite quickly as I found the characters all rather exasperating. I don't have Netflix so can't recommend any of their stuff... We both liked The Man in the High Castle on Amazon Prime though. Am saving series 2 for a time when we can have a good run at it. I think The Americans 1-3 is also available on Prime, that's good. For half hour stuff I haven't found anything good yet on Prime but there are lots of things I have enjoyed on (bought) boxed sets, mostly comedies as dramas tend to be an hour. In the hour/long drama category I really enjoyed Line of Duty (3 series,BBC).

Snuggly I am very excited for you! I totally understand your nerves about DD as I feel thd same sadness about 'abandoning' DS when the baby is born - its notvrealy but he has all of our attention now. To some extent that probably will happen (a friend who recently had DC2 said she 'missed' her DC1 for a while!) but that phase didn't last long. It won't be long before you get into the swing of it and find a new equilibrium. Fwiw, I don't remember my parents being completely consumed by my twin sisters initially at all but they definitely were! (Top tip: try not to have both twins catch whooping cough. Went on for months....). But we all survived and i still love 'em!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 15/02/2017 23:08

Hello. Can I rejoin? I was on these threads at the beginning of last year but fell off them.

Things a little tighter than I hoped this month but hopefully manageable as long as there are no more unexpected bills.

ChristmasSeacow · 15/02/2017 23:31

Ooh, frugal things- went to get JL click and collect order at Waitrose today and spent £40 on top up stuff, mostly not essential. THIS is why it is better to pay postage!

Then I went to have a meeting with someone about this potential advisory work. It sounds like it will be a goer, I just have to see whether they will pay the very high day rate I have quoted (if they don't I would do it for less but no harm trying - I have previous experience of taking a short project at a lower rate and then staying there for 2 years which was quite a big opportunity cost in the end!)

The other good thing is that I rechecked the rules around claiming maternity allowance (equivalent to smp). I thought I had to have worked 26 full weeks from their given date (based on my due date). But actually it is 26 full or part weeks..I actually already have 23.5 (so 24) in the bag so only need to do some paid work across two weeks, by mid-June, to qualify. That would be c £140 pw for up to 9 months, as opposed to the Big Fat Zero I will currently get. So if this project comes off I would be able to claim that - so WELL worth it. Even if they pay rubbish for the project work itself!

Tired today though after a housework binge and then the trip into the city. It is quite nice not working in this pregnancy so far, though i am finding it more tiring being at home with DS than it was at work first time round, on an hour-by hour basis. Probably because it's more physical and sometimes seriously tests my patience! However, I was put on a ridiculous project for the second half of my first pregnancy and worked 15 hr days from 5-9 months. Plus an hour's commute each way. I ate all meals in the office, and hardly saw home or DH. I didn't take a single day off sick in my whole
Pregnancy even though I felt terrible and was falling apart (and GP wanted to sign me off). I just knew there was no one else to do it and I felt I couldn't dump work in it. Really wish I hadn't though - I often wonder what impact the stress hormones had on DS and in the back of my mind I will always wonder whether this affected his ASD. The moral of the story is: it is more important to me to feel not too pressured right now than to earn money. So I will only do 2 days pw maximum and will NOT stay up all night to meet deadlines!

Cagliostro · 16/02/2017 00:34

Ah bless you Seacow - I don't think it would've had that effect on him. Thanks But I get why you feel like that. My friend said after having her long-awaited first baby that when you have a baby you give birth to a guilt complex at the same time! :o Work ideas all sound very promising!

Box set wise I LOVED Revenge. Trashy as anything. Love Emily VanCamp though.

Just used money in my PayPal and paid for DD's writing workshop tomorrow, and bought her a baseball cap - which she needs anyway for when it gets sunnier (DS has one already but her old one is too small) but it's also what the character she's dressing as (for World Book Day, I'm organising a party with a friend!) wears (Annabeth from Percy Jackson).

Frugal news. Another potential pupil :o :o should be talking to the mum tomorrow about lessons. Hurrah!

In less good news, DH took the Caglets swimming today and it so happened that DD's old school were there for lessons. Thankfully in a different part of the pool. But the girl that bullied her (mercilessly, violently) was there. So that brought up a lot of stuff for DD. :( Poor thing. She's in my bed tonight. Temporary blip - she's been doing so well lately starting to talk about everything that happened (SO much stuff I wasn't even aware of at the time - what was I saying about that guilt complex?!) and actually she's been worrying about bumping into her, so I think it will become a helpful thing - i.e. well you saw her, but nothing bad happened! :)

WreckTangled · 16/02/2017 05:51

Welcome back rafals.

One thing I wasn't prepared for when I had Ds was how much dd would annoy me. I was ready to feel guilt and sadness for her but (probably due to tiredness) I often wished she would leave me alone for sleepy snuggles with ds Blush

Today I need fuel I only put £30 in on Saturday and didn't leave the house yesterday so that's £30 in four days... Nightmare. I'll just put £20 in to see me through.

Ds had me up at 5 😡😩😴

ememem84 · 16/02/2017 06:39

Ooh yes to revenge. Also pretty little liars.

Absolute trash but you can get lost in it.

We loved how to get away with murder too.

mammymammyIRL · 16/02/2017 07:48

Not selling this! Just found it very interesting
^Panax ginseng is a plant that grows in Korea, northeastern China, and far eastern Siberia. People use the root to make medicine. Do not confuse Panax ginseng with American ginseng, Siberian ginseng, or Panax pseudoginseng. See the separate listings for American Ginseng, Ashwaganda, Blue Cohosh, Canaigre, Codonopsis, Panax Pseudoginseng, and Siberian Ginseng.

Panax ginseng is taken by mouth to improve thinking, concentration, memory, Alzheimer's disease, work efficiency, physical stamina, preventing muscle damage from exercise, and athletic endurance.

Some people use Panax ginseng to help them cope with stress and as a general tonic for improving well-being. They sometimes call Panax ginseng an "adaptogen" when it's used in this way.

Panax ginseng is also used for depression, anxiety, general fatigue and chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), multiple sclerosis, for boosting the immune system, and for fighting particular infections in a lung disease called cystic fibrosis. These infections are caused by a bacterium named Pseudomonas.

Some people use Panax ginseng to treat breast cancer and prevent ovarian cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer, and skin cancer.

Other uses include treatment of anemia, chronic bronchitis, swine flu, prediabetes and diabetes, inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis), fever, hangover, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), HIV/AIDS, fertility problems and sexual dysfunction in men, to increase sexual arousal in women, and asthma.

Panax ginseng is also used for bleeding disorders, loss of appetite, vomiting, intestinal problems, gallstones, bad breath, fibromyalgia, sleeping problems (insomnia), nerve pain, joint pain, dizziness, headache, hearing loss, convulsions, disorders of pregnancy and childbirth, hot flashes due to menopause, common cold and flu, heart failure, high blood pressure, quality of life, wrinkled skin, and to slow the aging process.

Some men apply Panax ginseng to the skin of the penis as part of a multi-ingredient product for treating early orgasm (premature ejaculation).

In manufacturing, Panax ginseng is used to make soaps, cosmetics, and as a flavoring in beverages.
How does it work?
Panax ginseng contains many active substances. The substances thought to be most important are called ginsenosides or panaxosides. Ginsenosides is the term coined by Asian researchers, and the term panaxosides was chosen by early Russian researchers.

Panax ginseng is often referred to as a general well-being medication, because it affects many different systems of the body.^

SnugglySnerd · 16/02/2017 08:09

Thanks, Seacow, I definitely want to avoid whooping cough! Pleased to hear you get on with your twin siblings.
I just dropped DD at nursery and she cried and said she wants to stay at home with mummy goodness knows why, she watched tv for over an hour yesterday while I slept on the sofa I suspect that will get worse over the next few weeks.

Good news about the new pupil, Cag.

It should be an NSD today if I can keep away from Amazon!

mammymammyIRL · 16/02/2017 08:24

Dd's feet have had a growth spurt - so she needs both school shoes and runners. Have found the brands I like on sale online but there's a branch of this shop in town my brother lives in so have enquired on website if same offers apply instore

Welcome back rafals
seacow that's fantastic about your maternity pay

mammymammyIRL · 16/02/2017 08:46

Just did an Irish Opinions survey and logged into my account afterwards and my balance is €23! It was €1.75 the other day. I did a survey last week which seemed to take all day but I was only dipping in and out of it at work. It was worth €19. Vouchers normally take a few weeks to come but I will have €40 for boots when they do arrive as I've €10 since beg of month, €10 ordered last week and now €20 this morning Grin

ChristmasSeacow · 16/02/2017 08:50

Ooh, some new telly ideas there. I will look them up, thanks.

Whatever my initial feelings about DS being 'displaced' by the baby I am really sure it will be good for him in the end so I don't have underlying guilt about it. I will just have to try not to worry through the transition period! Snuggly I am sure your DD can feel that change is imminent... she probably will be more clingy for a while. Is she also excited about becoming a big sister?

Cag I am sure you are right that in the end, meeting the bully is better than the dread about what might happen if she met the bully! I guess she just has to work through it.

friend coming round today. I have bought lunch stuff so should be an NSD. Oops, have already spent £13 on amazon buying more syrup of figs for Constipation Boy.

SnugglySnerd · 16/02/2017 09:15

Oh my goodness, Seacow, she is so excited! She keeps cuddling the bump and talking to them and even said she loves the babies the other day! She wants to give them a bottle too! I am going to take her out next week to choose a small present for her to give each of them.
I hope the enthusiasm lasts!

Needastrongone · 16/02/2017 09:19

Really good news about the work and maternity pay Seacow.

Wrecked I'm really glad you said that. I felt exactly the same about DS when DD was born. He was really hard work as a baby and toddler (not now!) and she was just peaceful and easy and relaxed. I felt resentment and guilt tbh.

Had a nice meal but out of sorts today, ho hum. I'll just crack on to be fair. Spends will be the Ocado delivery. £15 Personal trainer. And possibly flights if I book these today.

ememem84 · 16/02/2017 09:23

Doctors appointment done. All forms filled in. Bloods done. New gp was lovely. Spanish a bit eccentric looking but super friendly told me this was the most beautiful time and not to be scared about anything.

I told her that I'd been feeling rough the past couple of days. She suggested taking another day. So I have done.

Cagliostro · 16/02/2017 10:17

Thanks seacow Thanks I hope so :) she's such a worrier (we had her paediatrician report back last week and its main focus was anxiety) but she's getting there, it just takes her longer I think because she dwells on everything. Literally everything. I think DS is the 'more autistic' one of the pair (iyswim) but in some ways life is so much easier for him, he just breezes through oblivious! :o

Thanks mammy for the tip off re ginseng I'll keep a look out for that one. Anything is worth a shot. I'm back on the vitamin D as well, the super high strength prescribed ones.

Welcome back rafa!

Need to go meet the others in a bit, they're at trampolining but DH has to go to work. No St. John tonight which is a relief as I'm knackered. Might follow suggestion upthread and visit chocolate shops on the way through town in hope of cheap valentines chocolate 😂

I need to buy a big matchbox as well, biggest I can find. We are participating in something called a Matchbox Swap for the first time. Basically there's a topic each month and you get partnered with another home ed family. You have to fit as much stuff in the box as you can on the topic - puzzles, facts etc - and mail it to your partner. I love all the weird projects we get to do now 😍
We don't use matches much (hence buying one as the box of matches we have is sooo old and embarrassingly manky) so I may get a nice scented candle or two to use them up. 😇

My compression gloves arrived yesterday. #sexy

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 16/02/2017 10:39

Thank you.

Just come back from the dentist and fortunately it'll still need 1 more appointment, which is after payday so don't have to pay til then. Which helps.

Cancelled a couple of subscriptions I don't really need and Netflix too so that should save about £35 a month.

Only thing left is to try and sort out the swimming membership which I still seem to be paying for despite them sending me a letter saying it had ended.
