meadow that's great that you helped out at the homeless charity. That must make you feel really good to be helping less fortunate people, even when the government are being so rubbish about helping you. We have a lot of homeless people around here.

I'm sorry to hear that TB is such an issue now. That's very bad news indeed, as I know antibiotic resistance is also a problem in TB.

btw I've been reading the Explosive Child book and it's incredibly helpful just for dealing with people generally in a positive way. Thanks to whoever recommended it.

SnugglySnerd · 17/02/2017 12:54

Thanks, Mammy, I think I might get one!
I've done bugger all so far today, went back to sleep until about 9 and have been watching crap tv. Have just managed to get showered and dressed, empty dishwasher and put some washing on.
I really, really, really want to buy some new spring clothes but I'm resisting as I don't know what size I'll be post-partum. Expect I'll be in my maternity leggings for a while longer yet!

WreckTangled · 17/02/2017 14:21

Meadow it's lovely you did that.

£20 fuel.

HR want a proper reference and my employers won't give me one Hmm my manager said she will do one but it won't be on headed paper...

Anyway half term now so no school runs woo hoo!

SnugglySnerd · 17/02/2017 14:43

That's awful, Wreck. Can they do that??

ChristmasSeacow · 17/02/2017 14:47

That's irritating Wreck. Just make sure they know it is company policy only to give factual references as standard. Fwiw that is becoming fairly common these days - most of the large London NHS trusts will only do that now (so confirming employment dates, job title /grade and sickness absence). They shouldn't get too sticky about it. Will probably help if your direct manager can write something though.

Meadow I am glad you had the confidence to do that and found it rewarding too. Win win!

I'd love some new clothes too Snuggly but it ain't happening.

I am really annoyed with DS's nursery. They sent out their parents' newsletter yesterday and announced that my son's 1:1 support worker was leaving. And they hadn't actually bothered to tell me it DH directly. Nor when she is going, whether and when they will replace her... there was a period of several weeks before they managed to organise this lady. (And I know IABU because she has a perfect right to leave her job but I am a bit disappointed in the 1:1, who knows DS best, leaving just as we need the nursery's input into the EHCP process.). It just seems so hard to get things moving for him and keep them that way!

On the plus side the potential project people have agreed to pay my juicy day rate so I think it will happen... will just take a couple of weeks to get me set up on the system. I just need to steel myself to start working again just as DS's EHCP process kicks off, which will be a fair bit of work and stress too. No more leisure time for me! first world problem I know

WreckTangled · 17/02/2017 15:35

Apparently so snuggly my sister works for a public sector company and she said they don't even bother asking for references anymore just check the details with hmrc.

AdoraBell · 17/02/2017 15:57

I was told a few years ago that the WHO has changed the advice/policy to BCG being done before age 2. Mine had it at that age due to travelling to Latin America. Even though we didn't officially move until we had to decide on schools, they still needed it to visit.

Needastrongone · 17/02/2017 16:32

Just a skim read, sorry.

Great news about the day rate Seacow. I love DH for having the balls to price high, based on quality and holding out. Go you!

Wreck Hope the referece issue works out.

Lovely Meadow, good for you.

Spends.
£25 cleaner. These cleaners are truly the dogs bollox and I would happily pay more.

The DC are looking after dogs, ponies and guinea pigs all half term and earning a fortune for it, I might charge board Grin.

SnugglySnerd · 17/02/2017 16:49

NSD but that's because I've done nothing all day! It's a lovely sunny day here with, dare I say it, a hint of spring being just around the corner! Feel like I've wasted it.

CremeEggThief · 17/02/2017 17:34

Spends: £7 bus fare; £6.80 café, meeting a friend (2 lattes and a flapjack; 82 pence vegetables from the greengrocer (broccoli, 2 carrots and 1 parsnip for that, so a good deal); £1.30 Tesco, on tiger bread and a cookie for DS and £3.20 on an emergency lunch (a wrap and a bottle of water) from the Co-op, as I was unexpectedly asked to work this afternoon! Total: £19.12.

I'm coming down with a really bad cold or possibly tonsillitis, as my throat hurts on one side and my whole body aches.Sad I don't think I am up to cooking and washing up tonight, so contemplating take away pizza. I've brought a duvet down from upstairs, as my usual throw isn't quite warm and comforting enough, and I've taken 2 Ibuprofen, which I don't like taking, as it gives me heartburn, but paracetamol won't cut it against these aches.

AdoraBell · 17/02/2017 17:38

Does anyone know, please, if having a Basic bank account has an adverse affect on credit rating?

NSD

ememem84 · 17/02/2017 17:39

£17 in m&s on dinner.

Lovely tomatoes, falafel's, cold meats, some smoked cheese, empanadas and tortillas and humous. Le yum.

And some fancy ginger beer.

Went to work today. It was an effort but I did it. And now it's the weekend. Woop!!

We're are fogged in today. No planes landing or leaving. No post. No newspapers. It's eerie.

WreckTangled · 17/02/2017 17:47

Don't blame you creme hope you feel better

Yum em I love m&s food.

We're just at swimming lessons Dh on his way home to cook pizza.

Ipsomatic · 17/02/2017 17:49

Sorry to hear that Creme. Does it help if you drink very hot tea or water and wear lots of layers and a thick scarf? I used to get tonsilitis but I find a good scalding of the throat and a thick scarf can work wonders. If you have aches all over, is it possible that it's flu rather than tonsilitis? I've never had aches with tonsil stuff, but it's very much a standard part of the flu.

Ds's friend from two doors down just resurfaced after we hadn't seen him at all since the week after the EU Referendum. That was a nice surprise. Apparently he's been swotting for the private school entrance exam and has passed so he's allowed out again. Ds was very pleased.

Beeneatingburnttoast · 17/02/2017 17:54

Just a quick read as half term busy

£46 Tesco

creme recently I've found nurofen express gives me indigestion, but Tesco own brand don't

mammymammyIRL · 17/02/2017 17:57

Creme does sound more like flu Sad
Ipso that's great for your ds to have his buddy back.

I'm about to start a four hour drive up the country. Hope the rain stays away driving in the rain makes me sleepy Hmm

CremeEggThief · 17/02/2017 18:02

Unfortunately, it's all Ibuprofen with me, as I usually get own brands . Horrible stuff.

I have had aches with tonsillitis before, Ipsos, so not sure yet what it is. I don't have any lemons or Lemsip in, so I'll have to make do with tea tonight. It's incredibly irritating, as I've only recently got over a bad cold/flu. I was ill with a bad cold and laryngitis last February (1st time I lost my voice completely) and I managed to get through to January without anything major, and now it looks like 2 illnesses in 2 months.Sad

Ipsomatic · 17/02/2017 18:04

Mammy I find the sound of rain very soothing too. I love listening to it as I drift off to sleep. It doesn't happen often here as we're technically an arid area.

That gluten-free cooking book that someone recommended is very good btw. It has a lot of interesting recipe ideas in it, and I'm looking forward to having a go. Thanks for that.

OP posts:
allthebestplease · 17/02/2017 18:10

Does anyone know if it costs more to wash a load in the washing machine at 40 but on a quick 60min cycle. Or do an ecco wash so at 0 but for 2 and a half hours?

I don't think a basic acct will impact on your credit score. But I think they like you to have a credit card just to show you can pay off debt. They don't like you to apply for lots if accts literally just before you apply for a mortgage, as you look dodgy.

SnugglySnerd · 17/02/2017 18:41

Hope you feel better soon, Creme, tonsilitis is vile. Gargling with salt water or soluble aspirin helps a lot of you can stand it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/02/2017 18:58

all Download the manual it should tell you, every washers different.

AdoraBell · 17/02/2017 19:15

Creme do you eat with the ibuprofen? I try to avoid as I get heartburn with stress and reflux. If I have to use it I time it with meals in mind, or have something like cheese and crackers/toast.

That's annoying seacow

Well done meadow 👍

Wreck I'd tell them what boss has said. I know it's stressful. Last time I changed jobs the new company didn't request reference until after I'd started working for them Shock

FoolandFitz · 17/02/2017 19:45

It's half term. Yay! Smile

This week has mostly been NSD apart from the following spends:

£1.75 for lunch on Thursday (left my lunch in the fridge at home)
£16.40 for 6 pairs of pants and 3 pyjamas for DS

I will now try to catch up with the thread.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/02/2017 21:12

It's a wire/ sensor in the door that connects to the air bag and deploys it in a crash

Tryingtosaveup · 17/02/2017 21:16

Hope you feel better soon Creme.
Well done Seacow for getting the contract at your price. Now you will get mat pay as well.
Meadow I think what hounded was brilliant, especially as you suffer from anxiety and had had terrible news about your PIP application. You were very kind to do something for others.
NSD today.
I barrowed 14 full loads of my home made compost up the garden to my new raised beds because it was such a beautiful spring day. The crocuses were open fully. And the compost has rotten down very quickly as I am pleased.
Soup from freezer for lunch.
