Ha ha, I'd love to have you all round for scones! As long as you are all Team Cornwall, not Team Devon

Cagliostro · 05/02/2017 18:18

Cream then jam for me I'm afraid. Cream is instead of butter. So it has to be spread first.

Bollocks now I want scones.

WreckTangled · 05/02/2017 18:19

I don't like cream so just jam please BlushGrin

FoolandFitz · 05/02/2017 18:21

I dropped out of the January thread. I'm going to try really hard to stick around for this month.

£12 chq for DC school trip.

ChristmasSeacow · 05/02/2017 18:30

Wreck your position is reasonable. You are in.

Cag we were getting on so well but now I am not sure... I will think about it. I married someone from Team Devon - I haven't decided whether I am keeping him yet either.

SnugglySnerd · 05/02/2017 18:55

Those scones look amazing! Jam first then cream for me. We have some jam, I might make scones with DD this week she loves them.

Lots of DIY jobs finally done today - hooray!

Em there's no need to buy tonnes of baby stuff or necessarily the most expensive. Especially baby clothes, they keep getting covered in sick and they need a bigger size every few weeks so not worth spending a fortune!

allthebestplease · 05/02/2017 19:11

em do you really need to move house? As you may enjoy being somewhere you know when you have a new baby. Maybe just a big declutter would work. But of course what's best for baby is what's important.
Had the in-laws over today so lots of cups of teas.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/02/2017 19:13

Em noooo. Babies don't need very much at all regardless of what the shops say. Sleep suits, wipes and nappies for the first few weeks as people tend to be very generous with new babies. Somewhere to sleep, car seat and a mode of transport. Muslim squares, sheets, blankets and a coat and hat, That's about it.

Well done need on the time.
Nice scones

Which Jo books are you using for the lovely sounding recipe

CremeEggThief · 05/02/2017 19:15

Jam on the Scone, then the cream on the jam for me, please.Grin

Cagliostro · 05/02/2017 19:24

Oh no I seem to be in the minority with my scone habits.

I finally booked the Pontins thing today as I spoke to them about where on the site I'd be - they've put a note on asking them to put us near as possible to the complex due to walking difficulties.

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/02/2017 19:49

At the risk of being thrown off the thread. Don't warm my scone and I'll have butter first then jam. No cream

Beeneatingburnttoast · 05/02/2017 19:54

I eat my scones plain Blush

NSD

SnugglySnerd · 05/02/2017 20:10

I don't like butter on a scone I'm afraid.
It's the Superfoods Family Classics book, Lifelong.

mammymammyIRL · 05/02/2017 20:33

Butter then jam for me please Smile real butter no spreadshit Smile

Need these are my stats in miles Smile
Can't upload until tomo, I've used my pics for today Sad

blueteapot · 05/02/2017 20:46

Going to throw in another - perhaps an NI thing - a treacle scone with butter on. Failing that a plain one with jam first then clotted cream. Food of the gods.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 05/02/2017 20:49

£18 on lunch out in pub.
Managed to put away some money into house fund, for first time ever. Excited. Hoping to buy in August/September with any luck, but definitely by Christmas. Just need to keep costs down and keep saving.
Really busy week at work this week and just realised my school and DH school half terms are completely different which is so rubbish as we barely see each other in termtime Sad

Tryingtosaveup · 05/02/2017 20:49

Come on Christmas, share.
Em, I am laughing at the thought of all those crisps. But you have definitely got a good DH there. Bet he'll make a great Dad.
I love all the good advice. They are right of course but I bet you don't worry about exercise. You may just want to cuddle miniEm.
I had all sorts of plans before mine were born. What I didn't realise was that once they were born, tiny though they were, they were in charge. Loved it though.
And I reckon you only need a quarter of what you think you need.
Snuggly, when are you two baby frugaleer said due? Can't be long now?
Girlie hope DD enjoys her party. Did she like her pressies?

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 05/02/2017 20:50

blue I'm from NI but live in England, came for uni and never went home!

Tryingtosaveup · 05/02/2017 20:57

Real butter (thickly spread) then jam, then cream please. I am being very care to eat healthily so can you just reassure me that they are healthy and calorie free.
Sorry Need, forgot to say, your result was brilliant. And you have only just started your real training.

Tryingtosaveup · 05/02/2017 21:02

Tomorrow I am going to make scones and I will blame Christmas.
And I have to finish repotting all the little plug plants DP bought me last week, buy another 180 tiles( last lot 😀), Hoover the house and write a power point presentation.,
I haven't got time to make scones but now I HAVE to!

ememem84 · 05/02/2017 21:06

christmas here they serve a cream tea with scone then butter then jam then cream.

This was my tea yesterday trying for reference this was at the grand hotel jersey. We had scones with cream and jam and black butter. It's a local speciality (like an appley cinamony jam). It's amazing. On scones crumpets toast...with cheese....

Just back from parents. Dm said that on the subject of help shes more than happy to just pop in so I can have a shower and wash my hair. she said for her that made her feel normal.

to answer a few questions. No we don't need to move house. We have space for a baby. Our deadline for moving is the end of July. If we can find somewhere and sell our flat by then we should be ok. If not it can wait until next year. Our flat is big. We are up two flights of stairs (no lift) but it's doable..

Make porridge scones trying healthier & no need for extrasWink

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 05/02/2017 21:15

How lovely, actually been busy today, so had 3 pages to catch up on.

Grew up in Cornwall, so I really have to make some scones now. Jam then clotted cream for me please.

need well done, fab time!

em great advice as always, my little bit is accept help! If your mum wants to take your baby for a walk so you can have a few minutes, I recommend saying yes please! Dd1 wouldn't be put down long enough for me to shower... dd2 would wait to be fed (quietly) while dd1 had epic tantrums...they are all different. If you are going to move, get your skates on, I moved when dd3 was 3 days old. I put myself into labour taking my greenhouse down. It wad an odd time I can barely remember. But either get moved and settled well before, or wait for a bit after. Moving with a newborn is not ideal!

Nsd for me, dp bought fuel and got us a costa, there is a garge nearby with a machine. We had been to the tip, so another load gone from the garden. I did 5k steps moving rubble from the bottom to the top of the garden. Big plans to get on with out there. Turkey leg for tea that I found lurking in the freezer, enough left for turkey and leek pie (a jamie oliver recipie) tomorrow.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 05/02/2017 21:18

X posted with you about moving em thats very sensible. You and your dh sound like you've both got your heads screwed on. You'll make great parents Grin

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/02/2017 21:36
