Out today meeting a friend. Somehow think it will be a bit spendy Blush

SnugglySnerd · 17/01/2017 08:05

BF triplets! Now that's impressive!!
I've been meaning to join TAMBA I don't think it costs much and apparently members get discounts in many places as well as twin advice and support.

Needastrongone · 17/01/2017 08:57

DMiL breastfed twins (DH is one of said twins), but she had 2 small DC to care for in addition and obviously no mod cons such as the like of which we have today; she said it was very very hard. Do what you need to do to get by I say Snuggly.

Spends today.
£5 class.
£?? Sainsburys.

frazzled74 · 17/01/2017 10:02

Not a good start to the day, a forgotten bill/debt (old mobile company) £56 and 2 school trips (letters home yesterday, money needed today) £85. But on a happier front, my Jamie Oliver book has arrivedSmile.
I've decided to apply for a new job that could potentially mean a loss of £100 ish a month, in the short term but hopefully open up more doors, this means that my £100 a week budget must be kept to , and whereas I had thought of setting aside £200 a month for extras, this won't be happening now as I need to save ,save ,save as id like a back up fund in case of emergency.( like sudden school trips)

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 17/01/2017 10:06

snuggly I think it seems daunting beforehand, but once they're here, it will be all hands on deck and no time to fret. Will you mix feed? It's so much easier to bf second time round I found, and if you had a good milk supply last time (I think I could have fed about 12 babies, truly ridiculous oversupply), the a mix from the start could work. diclaimer I had my babies one at a time and might be talking crap.

Has anyone tried the 'subscribe and save' thing on amazon? My 16yr old moggie really likes the tiny tins of gourmet gold, and I'm wondering if it will be easier to get them this way, he ususlly gets felix, but is getting very huffy about it, so I want him to have the stuff he really likes. Have shopped around, but it's about the same price when on offer - and at least we won't run out this way and need emergency expensive food from the village (like today).

Have sodding toothache. And need Dd2 seen as her asthma is playing up and now she's coughing too.

mammymammyIRL · 17/01/2017 11:41

These are the notes from nutritional therapist talk need uploading from my phone. I'll explain on PC soon

It's looking after/playing with DD1 that I'm worried about really, if it was just me and 2 babies I'd make the most of the excuse to watch loads of tv and mainline biscuits like I did when feeding DD. Maybe mixed feeding would work. I definitely don't fancy tandem feeding whilst out and about!

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/01/2017 12:51

Trying Voluntary Termination, little known get out of car finance when you've paid enough on the finance. Happy Birthday! Cake

Snuggly Teachers can join Costco, they sell formula. And nappies.

£2.37 post office.

Washed car, scrubbed drive with bleach & washing up liquid.

Taytocrisps · 17/01/2017 13:01

I'm planning a nice holiday abroad this year so that's an incentive to save hard and make every cent count.

Once the holiday is out of the way, I'm going to turn my attention to my credit card and get that paid off. Someone here (is it em?) does a monthly financial statement so I'm aiming to do that too. It will be interesting to see how things compare this time next year. I hope to see a higher savings balance and a lower cc balance.

mammy I think you switched to Airtricity last year? We've switched recently too. I put it off for ages because I didn't like the fact you had to pay it by direct debit but actually, I don't know why I was being so silly. It's just another dd same as our mortgage or life insurance. And it's actually easier having a smaller bill every month rather than a larger bill every two months.

CathodeRayTube · 17/01/2017 13:51

Trying I'm right with you on the handbags, the shopping and the toiletries, and so so much on car shopping.

That's great about the tooth Brighter. That's what I'm hoping for too.

Em I'm so pleased that you've found the time to do bugger all for a while. I think you could do with a good deal more of that.

Snuggly in our local area you can hire a specialist twins doula who can help teach the skills for managing two at once, and especially for bf two at once. The person can be found through the leche league. Maybe there is one near you too? I agree about doing what you need to do though. A friend of mine bf twins and got really very very unwell after 5 months of sleep deprivation. Definitely good to care for yourself too.

Italian that's hilarious about bf triplets. I can't even begin to imagine that.

Knitting I've done subscribe and save and it's fine. You can turn it on and off as often as you want.

I had a lovely morning again. I chucked myself out in the sunshine and got perked up so much that I went down to the place where I have voluntary work and had a lovely chat with an actual person Woohoo! I even told her a useful factoid that helped her research and now I feel quite useful. Yay!

I was nearly a NSD until I bought something in the sales and blew £40 on tasty foods for dh in M&S.

WreckTangled · 17/01/2017 16:21

MeadowHay · 17/01/2017 16:31

I joined a frugaleer thread months ago but didn't stick around long, we were struggling money wise and I was dejected, lol. But now that the new year has come around things are improving and I feel like getting back on track!! DH started work at the beginning of December so we've had one pay check so far but he is still in his overdraft. My overdraft is now paid off as got my student loans & grants at the beginning of this month. Also successfully applied for an MBNA credit card but this is just for small spends to improve my credit rating as I don't have much of a credit rating as all direct debits etc for bills come out of DH's account. Going back to work tomorrow (work in my SU term-time only) after the Xmas break so looking forward to earning again Grin.

Today was a NSD, I only went out the house to uni for an exam. It went ok although was harder than I expected lol. Our food shopping is getting delivered tonight by Asda that I did yesterday though.

Daydreamer2017 · 17/01/2017 16:43

Hi everyone, newbie here!

I'm in a lot of debt and DH and I have finally got our heads out of the sand to chip away at it. We're making payments each month but we've either nothing left at the end of the month or we use a credit card to get us through. It can't go on any longer!! We have a little one and we have to get ourselves straight so we can stop stressing and set a good example.

I'm hoping this thread will keep me on track. I'm sitting down tonight to go through our accounts and set a firm budget. Not going to lie, I'm nervous... but really want to change things now x

mammymammyIRL · 17/01/2017 17:05

place marking, just haven't had time for this fast moving thread lately, hopefully tomorrow I'll get to catch up with everyone.

I spent €36 on my night out Sat night, and used a €40 voucher towards the meal. On Sunday I resisted the not very tempting food at soft play and just had a can of diet coke €1.60, I'll bring one in my handbag next time Grin

Monday was a NSD and this morning I spent 70c on a microwave porridge as I didn't have time to make my own pot this morning, dd was up during the night with d&v and ds was awake this morning.

Tonight I've an impromptu trip to cinema with a group of ladies from our village. I'm driving it's €5 tues at cinema and the kids tray with popcorn, haribo and a drink is €4.80. The group was set up late last year and I've not managed to go to any of their outings yet. We're going to see La La Land and I hope this will build some friendships too as I don't know all the ladies going.

Tayto It's energia I've moved to, you've reminded me to check my meter to see how I'm going with putting money away for when direct debit is due.

mammymammyIRL · 17/01/2017 17:08

meadowhay hi I remember you from before
daydreamer hi if we can be of any help let us know here

Got refund from sky today for broadband charged for in Dec over and above our notice period €29.48. They were quite prompt with payment once they had established that we didn't use the service. New internet installed in October, no payment taken from our account yet, I've contacted them numerous times, service is good but I wish they'd just take the payment monthly.

CremeEggThief · 17/01/2017 17:40

Enjoy, Mammy. I want to see that movie too.

Fluffy, there's nothing more irritating than beeping smoke alarms, especially in the night.Angry

Welcome back MeadowHay and welcome to Daydreamer too.

£7, travel to work and 40p, collecting a reserved book from the library. Such a great service!

mammymammyIRL · 17/01/2017 17:47

Having ynab with fun money category made it easier to agree to go. I've 19.36 in mine & tonight will cost €10

Daydreamer2017 · 17/01/2017 17:53

Thank you!

Today I had to spend £30 on the dog groomer. Dog was so overgrown we couldn't let him go any longer without his haircut. Won't need doing for another 3 months now.

Went to local garden centre and had my complimentary cup of tea (I have a membership card that costs £6 a yr)

Got Virgin to cut bill by £8 per month. Using basic service now.

Planning a NSD tomorrow.

Reading through this thread is already giving me a lot of motivation!

CathodeRayTube · 17/01/2017 17:56

Welcome Meadowhay and daydreamer

Have you watched the YNAB tutorials? That's how a lot of us start out and it really helps.

CremeEggThief · 17/01/2017 18:20

There are also some threads on the Money Matters section on here, specifically supporting posters in debt. There are some very knowledgeable posters, such as Tip, Daydreamer.

MeadowHay · 17/01/2017 18:27

What is YNAB Blush?

ememem84 · 17/01/2017 18:37

id I use subscribe and save for catfaces food. Quick delivery and much cheaper than the shops.

mammy let us know how the movie is. It's on my list to see.

Horrible day here.

Had to have an awkward conversation about someone in the wider team with their manager. Basically they're on their phone all the time, are not doing things properly and have lied about doing things ie is the bookkeeping up to date, they tell me yes. Then I find out it's. It when we go to ask for the accounts to be prepared. I've had enough. Aaaah.

I've also just seen the biggest gushiest most vomit inducing pregnancy announcement in fb ever. It's someone who I kept as a fb friend because she wined a lot and moaned and was an "eeyore" my first reaction was "seriously?? Her and not me???" were not even friends second reaction is do. Or get pregnant this year as id have to spend all my Mat leave with her. She's engineer it. Somehow. Aaaah.

But to announce it on fb she must be more than 12 weeks though right??? So even if I did get pg she'd be back at work by the time I was on mat leave....

Ignore all that.

The important thing to note is that I've had a horrible day. And it's been topped off by eating felix cod and tuna cat food. I had a cracker with marmite. And saw that I'd dropped some on my top. Turns out it was splatter from catfaces dinner. FML.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 17/01/2017 19:13

Oh em sorry that did make me laugh! The fishy ones are the worst. You can smell it for days if it gets on your hands.

Have ordered my cat the food on subscribe thingy, will see if it works out well.

The tea (pork casserole) caught in the pressure cooker, and I had a moan to dp, he's just ordered a 6l slow cooker - yay! Bonus is he bought it, not me! He's been able to a lot more hours lately as he's finally had his gallbladder out and is off most of the painkillers. It's very nice to have 'him' back, had been living with a bit of a zombie for a while there.

Dd2 on steroids and antibiotics in the hope of staving off another huge asthma attack. By chance saw the same gp who admitted her to hospital before, so he took it seriously.

Spent just £7 in the coop.
