Hi again, all.
This is an inspiring thread.
I like the Pontins idea! Might research a trip for the autumn maybe.
Also like the veggie meatball idea from further up the thread.
My first week as a frugal person has gone pretty well. I cooked a really nice chana masala which was so tasty and pretty cheap to make.
Today I'm going to do my meal plan for the week, continuing to use up stuff from the cupboards and freezer. On Wednesday morning I'll go to our ace local market and get fruit and veg, I think.
Realising how little money we have to chuck around at the moment so this week I am also going to be getting ruthless with our subscriptions etc.
Have a good week, everyone.
FF

I passed woohoo!
Now I need to sort out insurance and I had to pay my driving instructor the rest of what I owed her so today might end up being quite expensive.

Well done max! £0.60p sending a letter to grandma. Lunch from home was (I think) a tomato chilli and peanut butter soup. Tasty.

£4.05 in pound shop on two huge. Age of dried fruit (one tropical and one raisins) for adding to my special k cereal in the mornings, a bag of haribo strawbs and some takeaway cartons with lids for batch cooking and freezing.

Paid £10 off my credit card today. I'm trying to get into the habit of making a payment a week. (I read somewhere that a payment a day is useful but I can't be arsed with that).

Am going to spend this evening digging out my suitcase early I know and seeing what outfits I can take to nz and working out whether I need anything new. I'm currently wearing a red 3/4 sleeve shirt dress which will (I hope) look awesome as with a pair of flip flops and a tan.

Must also tan leggies tonight. They are pale as.

Ooh tomato and peanut butter! There's an idea.

max I think that's what's in it - dh made it.

I've made a spicy carrot and peanut soup before. Super tasty though. (Roast carrots and garlic and chilli, fry onions, add peanut butter, add carrots garlic and chilli add chicken stock and whizz - toast peanuts and throw on top when serving).

We need suitcases for NZ. I want ones with four wheels that you can wheel upright. Don't know how much to spend though.

Congrats Maxwell ! Defo with a wee celebration!

Wreck I bought one of those for DS from John Kewis (own brand) last year. Was middling price and am very pleased with it. I was shocked how much a big branded one can cost!

Am now quite jealous as DS has the best suitcase and the only one with 4 wheels. They are soooo much easier. But ours haven't died yet so I couldn't really justify replacing them.

wreck ours are Delsey ones I think. Not the huge ones but the middle size. I think dh paid £80 each for them in the sale. They've done us well though. Loads of short trips and a few long haulers. And the 4 wheels are the best.

Best of luck this afternoon, North. Cut the visit short if your dad isn't nice.

NSD so far, but I'll need to pay for my bus fare home after Pilates.

It's restaurant week in my town so I've managed to get a two course lunch in the new posh Thai place that I've been desperate to try for my £10 budget.

Wreck I find that with ebay too. The postage costs take away any thought of reasonable returns. I've reached the conclusion that ebay is great for buying at bargain prices, but not so great for selling, really.

£4.69. Tesco meal deal, tomatoes & Haslet.

I had workmen in today, kitchen out of action & couldn't go out earlier for food. Just had "lunch". I have Haslet for tomorrow's lunch while he finishes up.

Congratulations maxwell - it is a fantastic feeling to pass.

Wandered around Tesco slowly and spent only £25.63, I usually speed around throwing all sorts in the trolley. So I did 'mindful shopping' and got fresh trout for dinner tomorrow plus veges, yoghurts, pate, cooked meat, bread and rolls. Was very pleased with that.

Congratulations Max must feel an amazing achievement.

Well done Cag on battling your way through those forms.

£2.50 in Greggs on a rare lunch treat, and £9 in Holland & Barrett - the penny sale is on and I couldn't resist!

Spendy day here, as I spent £56 in Travis Perkins on wood and screws. This is for hiding the cheap kitchen carcass end, and kick boards. Never got as far as kickboards before, so the end is nigh (of a half finished crap kitchen)! Plus, frugally I have reused 15yr old ikea pine unit doors as kitchen cupboard doors! Dp routered 5mm off and they fit like a glove. It will all be painted, eventually. And for a wee triangular set of shelves for the hall where the stairs come down. We have had the top half of a dresser there for years, which looked bloody awful.

Did most of the weeks shop in Aldi for £19, will need to top up at the end of the week. Plus £9 in b&q, but got £5 back for some returned plumbing bits.

Italian where are you (I'm an old newbie)? I'm guessing from your name, Italy or Norway! You're babies are very cute.

Max super well done. Single most scariest thing I've ever done, professional oral exams were a doddle in comparison.

Cag well done for getting through the forms. Do make a list of all the wonderful things you can/do do. I bailed on the 30 page form for the council tax poor people get it free thing. We qualify, but I gave in. So £106 gets paid each month. Maybe I'll tackle it now.

NSD - hooray!

Congrats on the driving test, Maxwell and on the form filling, Cag.

Pleased baby DD is doing ok, Italian. Sorry I completely missed your lovely photos yesterday. DD is desperate for it to snow here so she can play in it! I've got about 7-8 weeks to go but only 2 more at work including this week.

Been writing a list of what we need to buy today and also researching how to end the PCP agreement on our car as we need a bigger one, ideally a second hand one that would cost less per month.
