lifelongfrugaleer · 01/01/2017 19:59

That's great all.

thewaitresses · 01/01/2017 20:23

Thank you cath. I've adamantly stayed away from a tumble dryer for years as at heart I'm a frugaleer and I always imagine coming on here to say 'forgive me I have sinned...I bought a TD!!' admittedly I haven't had a fuel bill yet but life seems so much easier already!

All really looking forward to reading the blog!

Taytocrisps · 01/01/2017 21:02

I had a quick look all and I liked it. Easy to read and I liked the idea of one resolution a month (even though I don't really do resolutions).

PixieMiss · 01/01/2017 22:18

Thanks for all the welcomes!

Mummyreindeerlegz I use the word "re-training" lightly! I am getting my Level 3 certificate in Human Resource Practise at college, I have some recruitment qualifications under my belt so want to spend my time as a SAHM wisely.
The £80 a week spend includes roughly £12 on cat food and litter, though we are trialing him with some cheaper litter as we speak. The rest is just bad planning and too much fizzy pop/junk food which is getting cut out! Doing a food shop over the next few days so will keep track online and try to plan better!

Fluffy Good luck on the Shellac course!

Not a bad day for spending - £1.09 on pop, 60p on cous cous and DH spent 79p on a mobile phone game Hmm I may need to get him more on board! My lovely DGrandad offered to pay for the 2 baby gates that I need so that saves £40.

Tomorrow we are going to empty a change tub we have and route for £1 coins, they will expire in October but I want to double check the ones we have stashed before I forget!

mammymammyIRL · 01/01/2017 22:19

Blog is greatSmile look forward to reading more.

Tryingtosaveup · 01/01/2017 23:05

Like the blog, All.
Well written and easy to read. Stick with it.

Cagliostro · 02/01/2017 00:31

Not even 30 hours away from MN and I am 5 pages behind! Shock :o

Happy new year to you all.

ememem84 · 02/01/2017 08:12

Great bLog all

I didn't watch Sherlock. I fell asleep. That's today's plan.

I made about £47 on eBay last night. Money has been transferred from PayPal to my account. And £20 sent to credit card. The rest will be used for postage with and remainders sent to credit card too.

Penny account now sits at £0.73. Grin

Other balances haven't changed.

Washing machine is on and I'm in bed with a cup of tea Brew

Today will be spent washing de Christmasing and I need to do a trip to the shop. We need washing up liquid.

8FencingWire · 02/01/2017 08:25

Happy new year one and all!
Back on the frugaleer wagon.
So far, LSD yesterday on some chips at the seaside and just over £1 on amazon on two kindl books.
It's been a spendy year, 2016, but I did buy and furnished a home.
I will do a financial review, I have some debt, but it is manageable so far.

Needastrongone · 02/01/2017 08:31

Bounces into thread. Bounce. Bounce. Bounce.

Went to be at 8.30pm, slept until 8am. Hardly moved. Refreshed and recovered. Just about to do dogs but DD doing the pony.

Life. The pie and peas were the best choice and amongst anything else, I would do again. The pies themselves were absolutely delicious, being 'home made' (or at least not your supermarket sort). So easy to cook, all 45 went into my oven on low in one batch. Pea in SC. Used paper bowls and plastic cutlery, just provided ketchup, brown sauce and mint sauce. Folk were over the moon. Also, I served, then collected plates, then it was done, no mass clear up of food.

And so frugal, £50 to feed effectively 50 people. You couldn't buy buffet food for that.

Fluffy, they took their shoes off before going on the sofa Grin. I told the teenagers off, but knew I was in trouble when the adults started ha ha.

I love the All, great photo and very easy to read and not patronising.

Welcome Pixie.

Roast chicken dinner tonight, using a reduced chicken from M&S, reduced stuffing from M&S too, and gravy frozen from Christmas, veggies that need using. So all frugal there.

I've also worked out a list of meals to have in the next few weeks with stuff I have in the freezer, I'll post later.

Plan today is to do a huge tip run, clear out a bed linen basket we have and clear out freezer in the garage.

I'm back at work tomorrow.

WreckTangled · 02/01/2017 08:32

Missing for today is to apply for that job I saw. Hope it's still open.

Need to renew my roadside cover think it's £49 not got any spare money right now...

Ds wants to go for a walk so we will probably go to the local NT place. Will avoid going in to the house as then I will be tempted to buy coffee!

WreckTangled · 02/01/2017 08:32

Mission not missing Hmm

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/01/2017 08:37

Spendy day for us, ice skating and Newcastle for the Christmas window at Fenwick.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/01/2017 08:38

Have you tried go compare for roadside assistance wreck?

WreckTangled · 02/01/2017 08:41

I use auto aid fluffy, they're really good Smile

ememem84 · 02/01/2017 08:48

I also need to meal plan for the week.

We have a ton of veggies and cheese and booze not sure what's in the freezer apart from vodka and I'm going to try for the following:

Three (at least) meat free meals a week - my cousin is one of those preachy vegans who like to tell people they're vegan and has repeatedly told me my health would be better if I go vegan and that I'm a bad persons for not being vegan. But I can't do it. So will just reduce my meat intake.

Three (at least) packed lunches a week

A food shop every two weeks

WreckTangled · 02/01/2017 08:48

Haha em is your cousin my sister?!

ChristmasSeacow · 02/01/2017 09:17

Happy New Year all!

NYE went well but we still have a houseguest, hence not ignoring each other and spending evenings online in the usual manner Grin. Have been reading but not had time to post, will catch up later.

Need to de-Christmas later, DH back at work tomorrow. I shall be writing lists and getting paperwork together for the dreaded tax return! And laundry, laundry, laundry. But first today off to meet some friends.

Welcome to the new people!

ememem84 · 02/01/2017 09:20

wreck oh you poor thing. Grin shes so preachy about everything. Can't buy her dd shoes because they're not vegan. Can't buy Easter eggs unless they're vegan. Can't do this can't do that. Can't possibly send her dd to school because the pencils may not be vegan and she may see other children eating non vegan lunches so she's planning on home educating. ive asked her about home ed. she's planning on just letting her explore and not following any sort of curriculum. Because it's vegan and she wants dd to be a "free range free thinking" child.

I know nothing about home ed but did think that you had to follow some sort of curriculum. Not just art and the occasional museum visit? But then maybe it's different for vegans.....Hmm

I Instagram a lot. Mostly food. She generally comments "that'd be better vegan" even if something probably is (Kerala chickpea and butternut curry with homemade naan???). It annoys me.
I may just start using the tag #vegan for everything or #isthisvegan when posting pics of bacon.

Incidentally I have no issue with home edders or vegans. Just issues with people who preach that I'm wrong because I make different choices.

#rantover

WreckTangled · 02/01/2017 09:29

Oh she's not quite that bad but does think that she's soooo healthy and fit. Argh. Mmm bacon.

allthebestplease · 02/01/2017 09:30

Thanks about the blog, I will keep working on it and then you can all subscribe Smile.
Cant remember who...but congrats to getting married.
Its finally not raining today so will go to the park.
We need to do a food shop too.

Needastrongone · 02/01/2017 09:35

Grin at Em.

SnugglySnerd · 02/01/2017 09:57

I just had a look at the blog, All, it's really good.
£19 on takeaway last night. Hoping for NSD today and I want to clear out some kitchen cupboards.
DD has slept until at least 7.30 the last few mornings, it's been bliss. Dreading the alarm and work tomorrow. I am totally unprepared for the new term.

northender · 02/01/2017 10:02

Welcome all newbies, loads of advice & support here.
Your party sounds great need, your energy is astounding!
Hats off to all doing the dry January. I won't be joining but don't drink too much anyway.
Good luck to all those with exciting hopes/plans for the New Year. I look forward to hearing of new frugal romances, babies and pregnancies!,

Posting on here while I really ought to be packing for our Devon trip later today. I've worked 7 out of the last 10 days but now have 7 days off & feel like I need it. It has been good for keeping spending down though. We've managed to live off Christmas meat and the leftovers in various different guises until today so only a couple of v small top up shops (less than £10) and no takeaways or meals out. We went to my parents one night and entertained my cousin and her family another night (Turkey fajitas!!) so I'm pleased with how we've done overall.
Although we spent more than planned on the dc, they have presents that they love, are quite practical in the main and will get lots of use from. Dd's Cotton Ball Lights were a total hit and I would definitely recommend the website. Her other main present was a Buddha and it seems I chose well there too.

Anyway after all that looking back my next post will be more forward looking! For now though I'm off to pack and put together a lasagne to eat before we leave. See you later.
